Lacná kniha The Dark River (Fourth Realm Trilogy)
Fear stalks our lives. In the press. On the television. Over the airwaves. Across the internet. Everywhere we go, someone somewhere is always watching. Waiting for the mistake that will reveal secrets, truths, lies, the real story or what they want to believe. No longer is anonymity a given right. We are being controlled without our knowledge and we don't appear to care. Daily we sacrifice little freedoms that will never be returned. We are all victims. They are some who will fight to the death to protect those freedoms. They will not allow the forces of commerce and ideology to dictate their lives. They are off the grid. Gabriel Corrigan is one such man. The system doesn't like it. It says that you cannot opt out, that you have to participate. And it will do whatever it takes to return Gabriel to the fold - alive or dead. He can run but he can't hide - forever...

Klus, dnes celkovým výrazem poněkud jiný než Karel Kryl či Jaromír Nohavica, s nimiž ovšem Tomáše často a svéhlavě srovnávají, se spíše podobá jakémusi mladému českému Bobu Dylanovi, nepochybně nejpozoruhodnějšímu písničkáři všech dob. A vůbec s ním nemá společné jen květnové zrození.
Tomáš Klus podobně jako Dylan, rebel s kytarou a tvůrce velkých myšlenek, vyzve symbolicky hned zpočátku tvůrčí cesty své vrstevníky, aby se nestali "generací bezejmenných". Mladý zpěvák postupně dosahuje úspěchu docela fantastického, a hlavně šokujícího pro zaručené experty.

The Lives of Brian
"It wasn't me. I didn't do it. And I'll never do it again!" says Brian Johnson of The Lives of Brian. That AC/DC's legendary frontman got to do it all is one of the most cheering and entertaining stories in rock'n'roll history.
The son of a British army sergeant major and Italian mother, Brian grew up in Dunston, Tyne and Wear, as it emerged from the shadow of the Second World War. Then he saw Little Richard on the BBC and it changed the course of his life.
The choir boy and sea scout was going to be a singer.
For over a decade he tried to make his mark with a succession of bands. He appeared frequently on TV and toured Europe and Australia with Geordie, yet real success slipped out of reach. Brian had a family to support and a mortgage to pay, so was forced to take a succession of jobs eventually leading to him running his own business. But if fate had a plan for Brian . . . fate didn't stand a chance.
Out of the blue, he was invited to London for an audition for one of the world's best up-and-coming acts. AC/DC were a band in crisis following the tragic death of their lead singer, Bon Scott, but with Brian on board they would record their masterpiece: Back in Black. It became the biggest-selling rock album of all time. The tour that followed played to packed-out arenas and Brian was embraced by their fans. But there was to be a twist in the tale. In 2016, Brian was forced to quit the band after being diagnosed with hearing loss, only to make a triumphant return to the band he loved with the release of 2020's smash hit album Power Up. Brian has lived many lives within his lifetime, but somehow he's kept his feet on the ground, never losing touch with his roots.
Touching, personal, indomitable, but always laugh-out-loud funny, The Lives of Brian is the story of one of the world's best-loved performers, told in his own inimitable and unique voice. 'Nine lives, Cat's Eyes. Abusing every one of them, and running wild.'

Exposed
The Greek and Roman body is often seen as flawless - cast from life in buff bronze and white marble, to sit upon a pedestal. But this, of course, is a lie.
Here, classicist Caroline Vout reaches beyond texts and galleries to expose Greek and Roman bodies for what they truly were: anxious, ailing, imperfect, diverse, and responsible for a legacy as lasting as their statues. Taking us on a gruesome, thrilling journey, she taps into the questions that those in the Greek and Roman worlds asked about their bodies - where do we come from? What makes us different from gods and animals? What happens to our bodies, and the forces that govern them, when we die? Vout also reveals the surprising actions people often took to transform their bodies - from sophisticated surgery and contraception to body oils, cosmetics and early gym memberships.
You've seen the paintings, read the philosophers and heard the myths - now here's the classical body in all its flesh and blood glory.

Rule of Laws
'A fascinating, comprehensive study that forces us to think again about what law is, and why it matters ... For those who want to understand why human society has emerged as it has, this is essential reading' Rana Mitter, author of China's Good War
The laws now enforced throughout the world are almost all modelled on systems developed in Europe in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. During two hundred years of colonial rule, Europeans exported their laws everywhere they could. But they weren't filling a void: in many places, they displaced traditions that were already ancient when Vasco Da Gama first arrived in India.
Where, then, did it all begin? And what has law been and done over the course of human history? In The Rule of Laws, pioneering anthropologist Fernanda Pirie traces the development of the world's great legal systems - Chinese, Indian, Roman, and Islamic - and the innumerable smaller traditions they inspired.
