Monumenta mortis et memoriae
Kniha je věnovaná sepulkrálnímu sochařství českého středověku v rozmezí šesti staletí. Hlavní devíza spočívá v komplexnosti pohledu a v interdisciplinárním přístupu ke studovanému materiálu. Text knihy sestává ze dvou základních částí – z úvodních studií a podrobného katalogu. Úvodní části zaměřují pozornost zejména na význam sepulkrálního sochařství v životě středověké společnosti, na typy nekropolí (královské, církevní, šlechtické), zkoumají vliv husitství a utrakvismu na výtvarnou stránku náhrobků a analyzují kritické výhrady předních husitských a utrakvistických ideologů, které měly negativní vliv na rozvoj náhrobní skulptury, zkoumají typy náhrobků a ikonografickou stránku jejich výzdoby, umístění náhrobků v sakrálním prostoru a jejich sémantický vztah k ostatní chrámové výzdobě, proměny výtvarného ztvárnění i epigrafické stránky v průběhu staletí.
Druhou částí knihy je vědecký katalog prací. Katalogová část zahrnuje 260 katalogových hesel náhrobků s kompletní fotodokumentací, přepisem a analýzou náhrobních nápisů a s popisem různých druhů materiálů, z nichž jsou náhrobky vytvořeny. Téma má výrazný mezinárodní aspekt – kniha se zapojí do mezinárodního bádání o evropské sepulkrální skulptuře a seznamuje odbornou veřejnost s dosud neznámými díly této oblasti.

Kateřina Kuthanová, NG v Praze) a nově uvedené souvislosti s evropským pomníkem (PhDr. Martin Krummholz, Ph.D., Ústav dějin umění AV ČR). Nechybí charakteristika reprezentativního sbírkového souboru, jehož většinu galerie získala v osmdesátých letech 20. století ze sochařovy pozůstalosti (Mgr. Adriana Primusová, GASK), ani popis jeho restaurování (Mgr. art. Jakub Ďoubal, Ph.D., Fakulta restaurování Univerzity Pardubice). Katalogová část přináší nové určení jednotlivých sbírkových děl (Mgr. Adriana Primusová a Mgr. Kateřina Kuthanová).
This publication accompanies an exhibition of the same name, organised by the Gallery of the Central Bohemian Region to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Czechoslovak Republic. It presents a previously unexhibited set of works from the sculptural legacy of one of the founders of modern Czech sculpture, Ladislav Šaloun (18701946), which the gallery maintains in its collections.
Texts by leading art historians interpret Ladislav Šalouns character and the importance of his work (Prof. PhDr. Petr Wittlich, CSc., Institute of Art History at Charles University), with an emphasis on Šalouns partially-realised monument work (Mgr. Kateřina Kuthanová, National Gallery in Prague), and newly introduced context with European monuments (PhDr. Martin Krummholz, Ph.D., Institute of Art History of the Czech Academy of Sciences). The characteristics of the representative collection are included; the gallery acquired the majority of it in the 1980s from the sculptors estate (Mgr. Adriana Primusová, GASK), as well as a description of its restoration (Mgr. art. Jakub Ďoubal, Ph.D, Faculty of Restoration at University Pardubice). The catalog section brings new designations for individual works in the collection (Mgr. Adriana Primusová and Mgr. Kateřina Kuthanová).

Henry Moore
Henry Moore has influenced the history of twentieth - century sculpture more decisively than anyone else. He was one of the first contemporary sculptors to realise his ideas in the public space throughout the world. His oeuvre was a lasting source of inspiration for an entire generation of artists – from Hans Arp, Alberto Giacometti and Pablo Picasso to the younger generation of German sculptors. Henry Moore (1898 – 1 986), known as the “Picasso of Sculpture”, is regarded as one of the most important sculptors of the twentieth century and the epitome of the modern artist. Typical of his work is the interrelationship between nature and abstraction. He discovered the “voi ds“, so - called openings and holes which heighten the sculptural, three - dimensional effect of his works. With this new approach Moore exercised a strong influence on younger sculptors, who gained decisive impulses from his sculptures. This volume presents M oore as the dominant personality of modern sculpture in collaboration with the members of the younger generation of artists.

Human Playground: Why We Play
Why do we play games? That is the question Belgian photographer Hannelore Vandenbussche decided to explore, travelling to numerous countries to roam the world of sports, passion, athletic competition, transition, and emancipation. The athletes she portrays keep old traditions alive or carve out new territory, perform rituals, and celebrate with boisterous parties centred around their games.
Meet Buzkashi players astride their horses in Central Asia, Donga stick fighters in Ethiopia, Tarahumara runners in Mexico, big wave surfers in Nazare, and many other athletes in these unusual sports. These unique photographs capture athletes from both indigenous cultures in remote parts of the globe and from familiar, Western cultures. They poignantly convey how old traditions are kept alive and new ones are carved out, how rites of passage, ritual, and celebration are all part of the culture of play.
Human Playground showcases a hugely diverse range of sports from places as far-flung as Mongolia and Madagascar, from jockeys in Dubai to land divers in Vanuatu. This extraordinary book of photographs is dedicated to a subject that is being presented in an entirely new way.

With expert texts on her work by Martina Pachmanová and Otta M. Urban.

Men in the city, Longo
For his famous "Men in the Cities" series, drawings of sharply dressed businesspeople writhing in contortion, a sort of death dance of the modern man, Longo used his friends as models. He'd bring them up on the roof of his loft, rope them, yank them, throw rubber balls at them to make them jerk, fling, and fall, and take their pictures. They recall both stills from violent movie scenes and sculptures of man in agony from the history of art.

Packed with beautiful images taken from the extensive Sottsass archives and including drawings and sketches from the designer's countless sketchbooks, the book explores his entire career from the 1940s to the 2000s, covering everything from his architectural projects and product design to his ceramics, sculpture, and graphics.

But every hour, three species disappear.
Our incredible world is at risk.
Megan McCubbin reveals the stories of the scientists, rangers and conservationists who are fighting to save these extraordinary creatures from extinction. An Atlas of Endangered Species shows us that the battle is on for their survival - and we all have a part to play.
