Fall Out
By the bestselling author of All Out War, shortlisted for the Orwell Prize 2017
The unmissable account of politics covering Theresa May’s time as PM through to the end of the election campaign. Stuffed to the brim with revelation and explanation of political debates and arguments and a superb follow-up to All Out War
‘May you live in interesting times’ says the proverbial Chinese curse. And it is difficult to think of a recent period in which politics have been so unpredictable and fast-changing. As Political Editor of the Sunday Times, Tim Shipman has been at the forefront of it all. His book of last year, All Out War has become the book on the 2016 Referendum campaign. With unprecedented access to all key players on all sides, the book was hailed on publication as ‘unquestionably, the book of the year’ and ‘stonkingly good’, it is ‘hard to imagine a better first draft of history’. Shipman’s writing is noted for its grasp of human drama as well as his intimate understanding of the political arguments and differences at stake.
Fall Out continues the story of British politics from the entry of Theresa May into Downing Street as Prime Minister through to the end of the general election campaign – and its aftermath. Written with his trademark wit and access to sources no one else has, this book takes all who read it to the heart of the political drama that is unravelling every day before us as Britain tries to work out its new place in the world post Brexit.

A visszatért Erdély 2. kiadás
1940. szeptember 5-én reggel a második bécsi döntés értelmében a magyar honvédség átlépte a trianoni békeszerződésben megállapított magyar-román határt, és ezzel Észak-Erdély 50 hónapra ismét Magyarország része lett.

Silent House
In an old mansion in Cennethisar, a former fishing village near Istanbul, an old widow Fatma awaits the annual summer visit of her grandchildren. She has lived in the village for decades, ever since her husband, an idealistic young doctor, first arrived to serve the poor fishermen. Now mostly bedridden, she is attended by her faithful servant Recep, a dwarf and the doctor's illegitimate son. They share memories, and grievances, of the early years, before Cennethisar became a high-class resort. Her visiting grandchildren are Faruk, a dissipated failed historian; his sensitive leftist sister, Nilgun; and Metin, a high school student drawn to the fast life of the nouveaux riches, who dreams of going to America. But it is Recep's nephew Hassan, a high-school dropout, lately fallen in with right-wing nationalists, who will draw the visiting family into the growing political cataclysm issuing from Turkey's tumultuous century-long struggle for modernity.

Varju nemzetség
Kós Károly 1925-ben írt balladai hangvételű történelmi regénye - vagy ahogy ő nevezi: krónikája - a XVII. századi Erdély, azon belül is Kalotaszeg forrongó, lázongó világába vezet. Bethlen Gábor halála után öccse, István, kérész életű fejedelemségét a Rákóczi család uralkodása követi. Erdély megosztott: a régi "bethleniánusok" közé tartozik a családjával együtt kissé bolondnak tartott Varju Gáspár, a szerényen élő kisnemes, míg fő ellenlábasa, Maksai László I. Rákóczi György porkolábja. Mindketten egy leány, Basa Anna szívéért versengenek, mígnem szembenállásuk egy táncmulatságon majdnem végzetes fordulatot vesz.
Varju Gáspár visszavonul családjuk ősi birtokára, a havasok közti Pojánára, ami a Bethlen-pártiak fészkévé válik. A szóbeszéd úgy tartja, hogy ide rejtették el a mesés kincset, a Zólyomi harácsot. E kincs megkaparintása miatt indul medvevadászatra Rákóczi fejedelem, katonáit pedig Maksai vezeti. A csapat végül a Varju-nemzetség uradalmán száll meg, ahol Maksai László és Varju Gáspár tragikus kimenetelű találkozása immáron elkerülhetetlen...
A három nemzedék életét átfogó erdélyi krónika a két ellenség halála utáni megbékélés jegyében zárul: Varju Jankó és Maksai Katka sorsa összefonódik.

Az azeri baltás
Harald Haasky professzor, a tromsoi egyetem Számi Intézetének vezetője 2004. február 19-én szokatlanul véres eseményről értesült az internet egyik magyar nyelvű honlapjáról.
"Gyilkos azeri-örmény konfliktus a Nemzetvédelmi Egyetemen.
A szálak a magyar Szent Koronáig vezetnek...

Death Comes to Pemberley
The year is 1803, and Darcy and Elizabeth have been married for six years. There are now two handsome and healthy sons in the nursery, Elizabeth's beloved sister Jane and her husband Bingley live nearby and the orderly world of Pemberley seems unassailable. But all this is threatened when, on the eve of the annual autumn ball, the guests are preparing to retire for the night when a chaise appears, rocking down the path from Pemberley's wild woodland. As it pulls up, Lydia Wickham - Elizabeth's younger, unreliable sister - stumbles out screaming that her husband has been murdered. Inspired by a lifelong passion for the work of Jane Austen, PD James masterfully recreates the world of "Pride and Prejudice", and combines it with the excitement and suspense of a brilliantly-crafted crime story. "Death Comes to Pemberley" is a distinguished work of fiction, from one of the best-loved, most-read writers of our time.

Lacná kniha Seherezádé rejtélye (-90%)
A kötet ott kezdődik, ahol Edgar Allan Poe befejezte híres-nevezetes művét, a Seherezádé ezerkettedik meséjét.

If Only They Didn't Speak English
As the BBC's North America Editor, Jon Sopel has had a pretty busy time of it lately. In the 18 months it's taken for a reality star to go from laughingstock to leader of the free world, Jon has travelled the length and breadth of the United States, experiencing it from a perspective that most of us could only dream of: he has flown aboard Air Force One, interviewed President Obama and has even been described as `a beauty' by none other than Donald Trump. Through music, film, literature, TV and even through the food we eat and the clothes that we wear we all have a highly developed sense of what America is and through our shared, tangled history we claim a special relationship. But America today feels about as alien a country as you could imagine. It is fearful, angry and impatient for change. Reflecting on his journey across the continent to cover the most turbulent race in recent history, Jon Sopel lifts a lid on the seething resentments, profound anxieties and sheer rage that found its embodiment in a brash, unpredictable and seemingly unstoppable figure. In this fascinating, insightful portrait of American life and politics, Jon sets out to answer our questions about a country that once stood for the grandest of dreams but which is now mired in a storm of political extremism, racial division and increasingly perverse beliefs.

My Name Is Venus Black
In this stirring, life-affirming debut novel, a young woman must reconcile her past with its far-reaching consequences on her quest for redemption.
I think about this a lot lately, trying to figure out how I got here. I trace my life back in time, looking for all those places in the past where, if I could change one key detail, I would never have seen what I saw or done what I did that terrible February night.
Venus Black is a straitlaced, straight-A student obsessed with the phenomena of astronomy—until the night she commits a shocking crime that tears her family apart and ignites a media firestorm. Venus refuses to talk about what happened or why, except to blame her mother. Adding to the mystery, Venus’s developmentally challenged younger brother, Leo, suddenly goes missing.
Five years later, Venus emerges from prison with a suitcase of used clothes, a fake identity, and a determination to escape her painful past. Estranged from her mother, and with her brother still missing, she sets out to make a fresh start, skittish and alone. But as new people enter her orbit—including a romantic interest and a young girl who seems like a mirror image of her former lost self—old wounds resurface, and Venus realizes that she can’t find a future while she’s running from her past.
In this gripping story, debut novelist Heather Lloyd brilliantly captures ordinary lives upended by extraordinary circumstances. Told through a constellation of captivating voices, My Name Is Venus Black explores the fluidity of right and wrong, the meaning of love and family, and the nature of forgiveness.

Most mondjuk a jó hírt: mindezekről, és sok egyéb agyi jelenség okairól is olvashatnak ebben a könyvben!

Unfinished Business
Longlisted for the Orwell Prize for Books 2016 Shortlisted for the Financial Times and McKinsey Business Book of the Year Award 2015 When Anne-Marie Slaughter's Atlantic article, "Why Women Still Can't Have it All" first appeared, it immediately went viral, sparking a firestorm of debate across countries and continents. Within four days, it had become the most-read article in the history of the magazine. In the following months, Slaughter became a leading voice in the discussion on work-life balance and on women's changing role in the workplace. Now, Slaughter is here with her eagerly anticipated take on the problems we still face, and how we can finally get past them. In her pragmatic, down-to-earth style, Slaughter bursts the bubble on all the "half-truths" we tell young women about "having it all", and explains what is really necessary to get true gender equality, both in the workplace and at home. Deeply researched, and filled with all the warm, wise and funny anecdotes that first made her the most trusted and admired voice on the issue, Anne-Marie Slaughter's book is sure to change minds, ignite debate and be the topic of conversation.

Ha polip szuszog Kolozsvárott I. kötet
