Podľa Mojžišovej knihy Genezis boli to prví ľudia. Predstavujú biblický príbeh ich prvého hriechu a následne vyhnanie z Raja, čím skončil zároveň ich spoločný život s Bohom.Pre Adama a Evu začal reálny a krutý život s prírodou, ale zároveň aj symbióza s ňou.Zjednodušene povedané, tu vlastne začala ľudská civilizácia.
Obsah knihy je zameraný nielen na Adama, ktorý v hebrejčine znamená človek - ľudská bytosť, ale aj na Evu, ktorá rovnako je človekom a ľudskou bytosťou. A kniha zdôrazňuje, že tento človek je aj jediným tvorcom ľudskej civilizácie. Autor analyzuje človeka z hľadiska psychologického, filozofického a gnozeologického. Vychádza z nesporného a nemenného faktu, ktorý hovorí, že táto ľudská bytosť od samého počiatku ako sa objavila na našej planéte Zem, mala vo vienku, geneticky daný tvorivý potenciál, ktorý uplatňovala v podmienkach života s krutou prírodou tvorbou takých hodnôt akými boli pracovné nástroje, reč, písmo, architektúra, umenie, ale a poznávanie prírody a Vesmíru. A toto všetko sa dialo pradávno pred naším letopočtom. Autor takúto bytosť nazval ľudským géniom. A takýto stav existuje napriek tomu, že tohto génia nepoznáme, nevieme si ho vysvetliť. Na základe tejto skutočnosti autor knihy uzatvára, že tieto tvorivé schopnosti sú u človeka prítomné aj v súčasnosti a budú aj v budúcnosti. Čo je však najdôležitejšie povedať, že k takto prejavovanej tvorbe civilizácie nie je vôbec potrebné formálne vzdelanie vo formálnych inštitúciách. Je to zároveň kritický pohľad autora na naše súčasné školstvo, ktoré nedokáže ponúknuť svojich absolventov požiadavkám praxe. Znamená to zároveň, že sa nedostatočne, alebo vôbec nevyužíva v školstve tento stále existujúci zázračný potenciál tvorivosti v človeku.
V knihe sú v podstatnej miere uvádzané dôkazy o platnosti tohto vzťahu, ktorý existuje medzi ľudskou bytosťou a civilizáciu. Čitateľ sa dozvie informácie o civilizácii starovekého Egypta, starovekého Ríma,Gréckej civilizácii, Čínskej a Indickej, ale aj civilizácii Nabatejskej a Mayskej. Autor knihy porovnáva a interpretuje niektoré archeologické nálezy práve z hľadiska vzťahu ľudský génius a civilizácia. Kniha obsahuje aj bohatý obrazový materiál týkajúci sa rôznych civilizácií, ale aj príklady ľudských géniov, ktorí pozoruhodnou mierou prispeli k civilizácii.

Jiří Pelcl patří k našim předním designérům. Zakladatel známé designérské skupiny Atika (1987–1992) žije a pracuje v Praze, zabývá se návrhy nábytku a interiérů, navrhuje sklo, porcelán, spolupracuje s řadou českých výrobců. Systematicky se věnuje teorii designu, publikuje v odborném tisku a přednáší na mnoha odborných školách doma i v zahraničí. Od roku 1997 vede ateliér Architektura a design na Vysoké škole uměleckoprůmyslové, v letech 2002–2005 zde působil ve funkci rektora. Za významný přínos pro mezinárodní design a vzdělávání v oblasti designu získal v roce 2006 Čestný doktorát University of Brighton. V témže roce mu byla za nápojový soubor Vicenza udělena Národní cena za design 2006. Jiří Pelcl ranks among the leading Czech designers. A founder of the well-known Atika design group (1987–1992), he lives and works in Prague. He designs furniture and interiors, glass and porcelain, collaborating with a series of Czech manufacturers. He focuses on the theory of design, publishing in the specialist press and lecturing at many colleges in the Czech Republic and other countries. Since 1997 he has been in charge of the Studio of Architecture and Design at the Prague Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design from 2002 to 2005 he was also Rector of the Academy. In 2006 he was given an Honorary Doctorate by the University of Brighton for his major contribution to international design and design education. The same year he was awarded the National Design Prize 2006 for his Vicenza drinking glass set.
