Země Lhostejnost
Kniha Země Lhostejnost přináší úplný soubor politických komentářů Karla Kryla z let 1990-93. Je nejen splátkou jednoho z výrazných dluhů, které máme vůči jejímu autorovi, ale i překvapivě aktuálním a výrazným hlasem do diskuse o přítomnosti a budoucnosti české společnosti, politiky a kultury. Krylovy články ukazují, jak mimořádného a vskutku nezávislého politického komentátora v něm česká a slovenská společnost ztratila. Vzhledem k nepřízni rozhlasových a novinových redaktorů na počátku devadesátých let neměl Karel Kryl možnost své publicistické texty představit širší čtenářské a posluchačské obci. I proto jeho komentářů vzniklo mezi léty 1990 a 1993 jen dvacet osm. Dosah regionálních periodik Moravskoslezský den a Znojemsko, v nichž většina těchto textů vyšla, byl minimální. Kniha Země Lhostejnost zásadním způsobem doplňuje obraz zpěváka, skladatele a básníka Karla Kryla. Ukazuje jej jako výsostně politického člověka se širokým vzděláním, záběrem zájmů a tvořivě blízkým vztahem k českému jazyku, který ve své publicistice rozvinul jako málokdo z jeho generace.

Co vypovídají zemětřesení o Bohu? Jsou pouze slepou, byť tvůrčí přírodní silou utvářející celá pohoří, která má však v případě zasažení obydlených oblastí ničivé následky, nebo nesou hlubší význam? Ukazuje tak, že v dnešním světě více než otázka „Kde je v tom Bůh?“ nabývá na naléhavosti otázka „Kde je v tom člověk?“ – tedy naše odpovědnost za důsledky přírodních katastrof, kterým lze často předcházet či je mírnit. Závěrem nabízí inspirativní úvahu o Boží „stopě“ v zemětřesení: o moci, slávě, řádu i kráse Stvořitele, které se v tomto přírodním jevu odrážejí, a zároveň o možném postoji křesťana k utrpení – v podobě sebereflexe, solidarity a konkrétní pomoci. Kniha tak nabízí čtenáři jedinečný pohled na zemětřesení nejen jako na přírodní proces, ale i jako na prostor setkání s Bohem a výzvu k lidské odpovědnosti.
