History of the Child
History of the Child is a highly evocative exploration of childhood, memory, and imagination, blending personal and historical perspectives. The book’s themes include parenting, grief, nature, emotional recovery and connections to the past, guided by the idea of childhood as a transformative and rebellious space. The first of its four sections features poems about Katherine of Aragon, the Vestal Virgins, Stanley Spencer and Wallace Stevens, with a focus on grief, nature, and animals. ?The second, Book of Lullabies, steps closer to the theme of the child, with poems about memory, inwardness, climate change, sexuality in older age, and the natural world. ?The third part, History of the Child, is a journey back to Penelope Shuttle's own childhood, blending personal memories with imagined perspectives to explore psychological crises, emotional recovery, and the traumas of childhood. ? It introduces an ‘alternative girl child self’, inspired by Persian legends, by her late husband Peter Redgrove’s dream of such a girl (‘my death, and she is my soul’), and by a friend’s fanciful wish. The culminating fourth section is a playful sequence about a little table, inspired by her mother and her childhood. ? The table symbolises connection to her mother, who lived to be 100 years old, and their shared history. ?Penelope Shuttle's History of the Child is guided by themes of memory, imagination, foreboding, magic, history and humour, and seeks to articulate the essence of ‘being’ through fiery language and elemental imagery. ? Afterlife
Polly Clark’s poetry inhabits a world that is strange, unsettling, and edged with danger. The poems grapple with the inexplicable nature of some experience, suggesting that we are most real in that mysterious space between living and dying. Polly Clark is an award-winning poet and novelist. Her first collection, Kiss, was a Poetry Book Society Recommendation. I Have a Home, There Is a We, whose original Swahili edition was in 2015 the first book of poetry to win the Safal-Cornell Kiswahili Prize for African Literature, brings the acclaimed verse of prolific Zanzibari poet, journalist, and cultural changemaker Mohammed Khelef Ghassani to English-language readers for the first time. The book explores the poet's life as a migrant in Germany: linguistic and cultural alienation, nostalgia, and longing for his homeland on the island of Pemba. These poems form a catalog of sorrow and love addressed to the family he left behind, to the children whose roots "he tore forcefully from the ground" in hopes of offering them a better life, and above all to the country he calls home, using the deeply resonant Swahili term "kwetu"—our place—named over and over again as Zanzibar. Utilizing the structured verse forms of traditional Swahili prosody, the collection is modern, unique, and innovative, speaking to a global diasporic experience even as it draws deeply on an idiom specific to the poet's tiny island home. A ripple of political defiance suffuses the poems as Ghassani positions himself against layered forms of oppression and marginalization both at home and abroad in this synthesis of love song, lamentation, and freedom declaration.

Francouzské básně
První ucelený český překlad Rilkeho francouzských básní doplněný vysvětlivkami a komentáři v synoptickém vydání. Přeložil a komentáři vybavil Miloš Kučera, obraz na obálce Vladimír Véla.
Rilke je výsostně básníkem německého jazyka. Složil stovky německých básní a jaksi mimo i přes čtyři sta básní ve francouzštině. Část z nich přeložil například Vladimír Holan. Náš překlad vychází ze Sämtliche Werke (Bd. II), které opakovaně vydával Rilke-Archiv pod vedením Ernsta Zinna (konkrétně z vydání Insel Verlag, 1987). Rilkovy francouzské básně nejsou žádným rozmarem, ale svého druhu jeho dalším, už posledním vrcholem, či alespoň stoupáním k němu. Pro veřejnost i většinu fanoušků, rilkologů a badatelů jsou současně ale neznámým dílem.

Beletria je často nazývaná aj krásnou, alebo umeleckou literatúrou. Toto označenie pochádza z francúzskeho názvu belles lettres (krásna literatúra). Výrazom beletria sa súhrnne označujú umelecké prozaické diela. K najznámejším beletristickým žánrom patrí poviedka, novela, román, črta či umelecká reportáž.
Romány, poviedky a novely ponúkajú pútavé príbehy s výraznými postavami a atmosférou. Divadelné hry zase slúžia ako materiál pre divadelné predstavenia a prinášajú konverzácie, dramatické situácie a komediálne alebo tragické prvky.
