Bratři Youngové
Australský publicista Jesse Fink (43) se pouští do nesnadného úkolu – napsat neotřelou biografii proslulé hardrockové skupiny, která se svými životopisci zásadně nekomunikuje. Autor se přitom soustředí na trojici bratrů Youngových, kteří v příběhu AC/DC představují ústřední postavy. Jedná se o zakládající členy kapely Malcolma s Angusem, které doplňuje jejich starší bratr George, působící jako šedá eminence v pozadí. Fink nezapírá, že je nadšeným fanouškem skupiny, ale zároveň si dokáže zachovat kritický odstup. Místo běžných biografických dat, která jsou snadno dostupná, se autor zajímá spíše o skryté části příběhu AC/DC, které mapuje prostřednictvím rozhovorů s bývalými členy skupiny a také s lidmi, kteří měli v historii skupiny klíčovou roli, ale často se nedočkali zaslouženého ocenění. Řada těchto osob tak dostává vůbec poprvé příležitost vydat své svědectví. Na základě své osobní zkušenosti, kdy mu hudba AC/DC pomohla překonat životní krizi, si Fink také klade otázku, v čem tkví tajemství obrovského úspěchu této skupiny, která má na kontě více než 200 milionů prodaných nosičů. Čím je tato kapela tak zvláštní a podmanivá, že si dokáže získat srdce milionů fanoušků po celém světě?
Autor dochází k závěru, že přímočará a poctivá muzika AC/DC je univerzálně srozumitelná a dotýká se čehosi niterného a prapůvodního, co je skryto v každém z nás.
Ještě to neskončilo
Vladimír Veit ve své knize s výstižným podtitulem Ze života jednoho českého písničkáře nabízí čtenáři koláž svých písňových textů a vzpomínek na dětství, mládí a vlastní písničkářské začátky. Jako člen volného sdružení Šafrán zažil jeho zrod, vrcholná léta i pád, řízený komunistickou policií. Cudně a bez emocí popisuje též léta strávená ve vídeňském exilu, kam odešel po podpisu Charty 77. Knihu uzavírá vyprávění z let devadesátých, kdy se v éře začínajícího kapitalismu věnoval vydávání vlastní tvorby. Mozaiku textů doplňuje bohatá dobová dokumentace, diskografie a glosy Veitových kolegů a přátel. Vladimír Veit patří k první generaci našich městských písničkářů, ovlivněné zejména poezií beatniků, Donovanem a Bobem Dylanem, kteří začali veřejně vystupovat v druhé polovině 60. let. Jako křehký lyrik a výborný skladatel melodických písní býval zastíněn svými slavnějšími a výrazově suverénnějšími kolegy Vladimírem Mertou, Vlastimilem Třešňákem či Jaroslavem Hutkou. Patrně jen znalci vědí, že Veit je autorem hudby mnoha zásadních písní z Hutkova repertoáru. Asi nejvíce se však proslavil svým nevšedním a naléhavým zhudebňováním pestré palety autorů naší i světové poezie 19. a 20. století. Pro svou nenápadnou autorskou a interpretační sílu je již několik desetiletí považován za neopakovatelnou osobnost české folkové scény.
Životaběh
O svém kostrbatém životě a lidech zajímavých i zlých vypráví výtvarník, textař, enfant terrible českého folku, písničkář i rocker, zakladatel a dosud frontman kapely Extempore, která se v 70. letech snažila posunout český rock trochu jinam. Jeho životaběh sahá od dětství v eroticky dusném ghettu špitálu v Motole přes objevování světa v letech 1968 a 1969 a přes osobní i umělecké prohry a radosti, exil ve Vídni, návraty a útěky až po dnešek. Který, jak autor doufá, není ještě závěrem, ale nadějí na to, co by ještě rád dokončil, nakreslil, zahrál, napsal, ale i viděl a zažil. Pestrá a obsáhlá vzpomínková kniha popisuje setkání s mnohými - skvělými i ohavnými - lidmi za sedmdesát let života, přibližuje dobrodružství i nudnou bídu normalizace a líčí nekonečný boj s hloupostí a zlem - před sametem i po něm. Publikace je doplněna množstvím unikátních dobových dokumentů, diskografií a rejstříkem.
Mozartovy Pražské noci
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart a Praha, to je poměrně často probírané téma. Co když to ale bylo s Mozartem a zlatým městem na Vltavě trochu jinak?
