Desátý svazek Korespondence Jakuba Demla Tento dopis spalte hned po přečtení! obsahuje dopisy Václavu Maršíkovi (1914 až 2011) z let 1950 až 1960. Maršík se nepohyboval v uměleckých kruzích, s Demlem se seznámil v roce 1950 při návštěvě Tasova. Přestože se básník v té době nacházel v nové situaci, poznamenané obecnou nesvobodou a nedůvěrou, s Maršíkem ihned navázal vřelý vztah, který byl především vztahem kněze a hledajícího věřícího. Jeho nový přítel, zaměstnanec spořitelny a milovník hor, též sehrál důležitou roli jakožto Demlův podporovatel a uchovatel jeho díla. Korespondenční soubor uzavírá jediný známý Maršíkův dopis z roku 1960 adresovaný Demlovi, ostatní jeho listy se nedochovaly. Básník s nimi nejspíše naložil způsobem, k němuž jednou sám nabádal Maršíka: „Tento dopis pro jistotu spalte hned po přečtení!“
Kniha obsahuje též opisy dedikací Jakuba Demla Václavu Maršíkovi, fotografie z první cesty do Tasova v roce 1950 a Maršíkovy Vzpomínky na P. Jakuba Demla (1997). Edici doplňuje komentář, rozsáhlé vysvětlivky, jmenný heslář, ediční poznámka, soupis korespondence a reprodukce rukopisů a strojopisů.
Václav Maršík (17. 9. 1914 Havlovice – 12. 12. 2011 Praha), pracovník spořitelny, odborník na automatizaci bankovních systémů a podporovatel básníka Jakuba Demla. Vystudoval Obchodní akademii v Hradci Králové, kde maturoval v roce 1933. Absolvoval též čtyři semestry na Vysoké škole obchodní v Praze, studium však nedokončil. Od roku 1934 pobýval v Praze. Byl dlouholetým zaměstnancem spořitelny, kde vystřídal mnoho pozic od řadového úředníka až po odborného poradce generálního ředitele. V roce 1960 se oženil s Annou Strakovou (1927–2018), s níž měl dceru Marii (1963–2024) a syna Václava (1964). V roce 1950 s přítelem Josefem Styborem poprvé navštívil Jakuba Demla. Tím započalo desetileté přátelství, které přetrvalo až do básníkovy smrti. Ihned po seznámení si začali dopisovat a Maršík sehrál důležitou roli básníkova důvěrníka i příjemce jeho rukopisů. V jeho těžké existenční situaci mu pomáhal rozprodávat knihy nebo mu sám daroval peníze.
Maršíka pojila s Demlem katolická víra. Rád chodil po slovenských horách a zejména při návratu z těchto cest Demla v Tasově navštěvoval. Celý život si také vedl deník a diáře, kam si věcně zapisoval důležité události ze života, aniž by je komentoval. Tyto zápisky posloužily jako předobraz k rukopisu Vzpomínky na P. Jakuba Demla, v němž Maršík v roce 1997 soustředil poznámky o průběhu svých návštěv v Tasově. Jeho záznamy spolu s vzácnými fotografiemi přinášejí svědectví o Demlově každodennosti, atmosféře tasovské ho domu a tématech, která básník na konci života považoval za důležitá.
