Vo veku štrnástich rokov odišiel do Prahy študovať na Priemyselnú školu jadrovej techniky a po jej ukončení pokračoval v štúdiu na Fakulte technickej a jadrovej fyziky Českého vysokého učenia technického v Prahe v špecializácii jadrová chémia. Autor zaujímavým spôsobom vykresľuje svoje životné peripetie počas štúdia i po ňom, ako aj cestu, ktorá ho priviedla k splneniu sna stať sa vedcom. Jeho túžby sa začali plniť nástupom na vedeckú ašpirantúru v Chemickom ústave Slovenskej akadémie vied v Bratislave, kde je činný doteraz. The Auschwitz Photographer
When Germany invaded Wilhelm Brasse's native Poland in 1939, he was asked to swear allegiance to Hitler and join the Wehrmacht. He refused. He was deported to Auschwitz concentration camp as political prisoner number 3444. A trained portrait photographer, he was ordered by the SS to record the inner workings of the camp. He began by taking identification photographs of the prisoners as they entered the camp, went on to capture the criminal medical experiments of Josef Mengele, and also recorded executions. Between 1940 and 1945, Brasse took around 50,000 photographs of the horror around him. He took them because he had no choice.
Eventually, Brasse's conscience wouldn't allow him to hide behind his camera. First he risked his life by joining the camp's Resistance movement, faking documents for prisoners, trying to smuggle images to the outside world to reveal what was happening. Then, when Soviet troops finally advanced on the camp to liberate it, Brasse refused SS orders to destroy his photographs. 'Because the world must know,' he said.

Brezhnev
Leonid Brezhnev was leader of the Soviet Union for eighteen years, a term of leadership second only in length to that of Stalin. He presided over the Brezhnev Doctrine, which accelerated the Cold War, and led the Soviet Union through catastrophic foreign policy decisions such as the invasion of Afghanistan. To many in the West, he is responsible for the stagnation (and to some even collapse) of the Soviet Union. But much of this history has been based on the only two English-language biographies (both published before Brezhnev's death and without access to archival sources) and Brezhnev's own astonishingly untrue memoirs - written for propaganda purposes.

Naše rodina
9. dubna 1952 měl můj děda Antonín Šikula oslavit šedesáté narozeniny a odchod do důchodu. Místo oslavy v rodinném kruhu skončil na více než čtyři roky v komunistickém vězení. O svém zatčení, odsouzení a pobytu ve vězení naštěstí všechno sepsal. To, co prožíval zbytek rodiny, když byl děda zatčen a odsouzen, sepsala jeho dcera a moje teta Vlasta.
Jejich zápisky byly pro mne hlavní motivací k napsání knihy o životě naší rodiny za totality.
Můj příběh však začíná za války, kdy se moji rodiče poznali a domnívám se, že po konci války očekávali, že se jejich život bude odvíjet úplně jinak.
Nástup komunistů a totalitního režimu však jejich představy o budoucnosti změnil. Stejně tak jako osudy a životní cesty mých příbuzných a známých, o nichž se také v knize zmiňuji.
Dovolila jsem si sepsat i příběh o pátrání po ostatcích Dr. Milady Horákové, popravené komunisty v roce 1950, kterého jsem se zúčastnila.
Nebyli jsme hrdiny ani jsme neměli příležitost a odvahu opustit republiku.
Proto jsme zde museli žít a být součástí nesvobodných čtyřiceti let naší historie. Domnívám se, že když si knihu přečtete, pochopíte, proč komunisty nemusím.
Nemohu odpustit
Útek z Osvetimi, duben 1944
7. dubna 1944 Poplachové sirény oznamují útek dvou slovenských veznu z prísne streženého tábora v nacistickém Nemecku. Rudolfu Vrbovi a Alfredu Wetzlerovi se podarilo uprchnout a prekonali vzdálenost 160 kilometru, aby svetu podali první realistický a presný popis toho, co se deje v Osvetimi. O událostech v tomto koncentracním tábore do té doby kolovaly jen nepotvrzené fámy. Jejich Zpráva, nejprve publikovaná ve Švýcarsku a poté v západním tisku, jednoznacne a otevrene odhalila realitu nacistických vyhlazovacích táboru papeži Piovi XII., Winstonu Churchillovi a Franklinu D. Rooseveltovi.
Kniha Nemohu odpustit je mistrovským vyobrazením lidských charakteru, které stály za první zprávou o hruzách v Osvetimi. Jen málokdo dokáže císt o této gigantické a nelidské mašinerii smrti, kterou vybudovala nemecká ríše, aniž by pocítil silné a hluboké emoce. Mnozí v knize najdou pozoruhodný, hluboce osobní príbeh hrdinství a odhodlání, navzdory zdánlive beznadejným vyhlídkám.
Vzpomínky Čechokanaďana
Kniha zachycuje životní příběh Miloše Šuchmy (*1940), který v roce 1968 spolu zakládal Klub angažovaných nestraníků a po své emigraci do Kanady, kde se stal šéfredaktorem časopisu Západ a předsedou Českého a Slovenského národního sdružení v Kanadě, patřil ke stěžejním osobnostem československého exilu. Autor ve svých memoárech seznamuje čtenáře se svými valašskými kořeny i dětstvím a jinošstvím na pražských Vinohradech, jež bylo po znamenáno osudovými zvraty československých dějin německou okupací a komunistickým pučem. Popisuje zatčení a uvěznění svého otce, obchodníka se zlatem, a provází nás svými dalšími osudy až do období pražského jara a následujících desetiletí svého kanadského života. Předmluvu napsal Petr Blažek. V příloze jsou publikovány vybrané články a rozhovory z časopisu Západ.
