Kniha spomienok významného slovenského lekára - gastroenterológa a vedca. Do roku 1968 pracoval na Slovensku v oblasti výskumu a po sovietskej okupácii odišiel s rodinou do USA. Vlado Šimko pútavo píše o živote doma, dôvodoch odchodu, ale najmä pôsobení v USA, kde prednášal na univerzite, venoval sa výskumu a pracoval v nemocnici. Píše však nielen o práci, ale približuje svoj rodinný príbeh: ťažké začiatky, spoznávanie nového domova a úspechy, priateľstvá, rodinné tragédie a nezlomnú vôľu nevzdať sa, ísť ďalej. Značnú časť textu venuje svojej veľkej záľube: cestovaniu po svete. Významná je najmä záverečná časť knihy, kde približuje svoju prácu a pôsobenie v krajanských organizáciách a spolkoch USA, v ktorých hral a dosiaľ hrá významnú úlohu. Po revolúcii roku 1989 bol napr. v poradnom zbore prezidenta Havla. V súčasnosti má autor dva domovy. Časť roku žije v New Yorku a druhú časť v Bratislave. Knihu dopĺňajú fotografie z archívu autora a jeho perokresby – karikatúry. Publikácia vychádza v edícii Efigies.
The First Nazi
General Erich Ludendorff was one of the most important military individuals of the last century, yet today, he is one of the least known. One of the top two German generals of World War I, Ludendorff dominated not only his superior-General Paul von Hindenburg-but also Germany's head of state, Kaiser Wilhelm II. For years, Ludendorff was the military dictator of Germany. He not only commanded all aspects of World War I, he refused every opportunity to make peace; he antagonised the Americans until they declared war; he sent Lenin into Russia to forge a revolution to shut down the Russian front; and pushed for total military victory in 1918 in a rabid slaughter known as "The Ludendorff Offensive." He soon forged an alliance with Hitler, endorsed the Nazis, and wrote maniacally about how Germans needed a new world war to redeem the Fatherland. This savage man had staggering designs to build a gigantic state that would dwarf even the British Empire. Quite simply, Ludendorff wanted the world and was instrumental in both world wars and the Russian Revolution, changing the 20th century beyond recognition.

Hana Heřmánková, autorka rozmarného cestopisu Cestování v nejlepších letech a a sarkastické knihy Naše povedená mamička, je spontánní vypravěčka skutečných situací a příběhů. Dominuje v nich pozorovací talent, který preferuje humorné stránky života, drobných absurdit. Je sice schopna i dojetí, zvlášť když píše o dětech, ale vždy v drsnějším zarámování a v přímočarém jazyce. The real Fidel This is a telling portrait of Cuba and its enigmatic leader. In December of 1958, Lee Lockwood, then a young photojournalist, went to Cuba to cover what looked to be the end of Batista's regime. He arrived the day before Fidel Castro took power and spent a week canvassing the island before finally coming into contact with his subject.
