And when police found performance-enhancing drugs at his house, Vandenbroucke said they were for his dog.
It seemed he had finally learned from his mistakes. Then, on 12 October 2009, aged just 34, Vandenbroucke was found dead in a hotel room in Senegal.

Architekt svitajúcich časov
Zápas o národné prežitie v posledných desaťročiach 19. a prvých desaťročiach 20. storočia je nerozlučne spojený aj s menom Blažeja Félixa Bullu. Keď v roku 1883 prišiel do Martina, kde si otvoril staviteľskú kanceláriu, akoby s ním tam zavial vánok sviežeho vzduchu. Projektoval, staval, spieval v Slovenskom spevokole, písal divadelné hry, hral, zbieral ľudové piesne a nadchýnal sa ľudovou architektúrou.
Historik Peter Huba v bohato ilustrovanej monografii o Blažejovi Félixovi Bullovi sa po prvýkrát snaží vytvoriť celkový obraz o živote a diele tejto významnej osobnosti našich národných dejín. Fenomén Masaryk / Masaryk as Phenomenon
Národní muzeum připomíná v roce 2017 dlouhých osm dekád od smrti jedné z nej významnějších postav našich dějin - Tomáše Garrigua Masaryka. Když se veřejnost dozvěděla 14. září 1937 o smrti Prezidenta Osvoboditele, bez přehánění měli lidé pocit, že se končí jedno historické období. Bohužel, měli vzhledem k dobovým okolnostem pravdu. Následujících osmdesát let zažila tato země mnoho dějinných proměn a proměňoval se v jejich souvislosti i obraz TGM.
Toto kniha vznikla ke stejnojmenné výstavě zahájené 15. 9. 17 v Nové budově NM.

BORSI-KÁLMÁN BÉLA (1948, történész/műfordító/diplomata, az MTA doktora) Az ELTE történelem-román szakán, Eötvös collegistaként szerzett diplomát 1973-ban. Ezt követően volt könyvtári szakozó, szabadúszó tolmács és műfordító, rövid ideig az Európa Kiadó lektoraként dolgozott. 1976. január 1. és 2018. március 22. között az ELTE oktatója volt, tanársegédtől professzorig. Mind a négy tudományos fokozatot megszerezte: egyetemi (kis)doktor, kandidátus, habilitált doktor és az akadémia doktora. 1990 és 2015 között három diplomáciai missziót vállalt (Bukarest és kétszer Párizs). Szakterülete: magyar-francia-román viszony a XVIII-XX. században, nemzettudati- és tipológiai kérdések. "Profi" futballpályafutásának két csúcspontja a Csepel Ifjúsági első csapata (1966), illetve a Ferencváros tartalék együttese (1968-70). (Hajdani játékostársai közül heten jutottak el a nagy válogatottságig.) "Amatőrként" Moldova György Sajtó SK és Esterházy Péter Galambom SC névű alakulataiban játszott, 1985 júniusa óta napjainkig az Újságíró Válogatott edzéseit látogatja.
Deník námořníka Františka Kodeta
František Kodet (narozen 12. 2. 1889 v Horním Starém Městě u Trutnova, zemřel 18. 1. 1973 v Bojkovicích), v mládí sloužil na palubách rakousko-uherských lodí. Několik let strávil na palubě bitevní lodi I. třídy Radetzky, později na minonosce Chamöleon. Odveden byl v roce 1910. Návratu se dočkal až po skončení 1. světové války v roce 1918. Citlivý, vnímavý dvacetiletý mladík si od svého nástupu na vojnu v roce 1910 do roku 1913 psal deník, který se zachoval do dnešních dní.
Přinášíme volně převedený text i faksimile celého rukopisu. V příloze jsou rovněž faksimile některých dopisů, které František Kodet psal příteli, seznam přístavů, které dnes známe pod jiným názvem a seznam lodí, o nichž se autor ve svých vzpomínkách zmiňuje.
Tato kniha byla vydána ke 100. výročí vzniku Československa v říjnu 2018 v edici Lodě v české minulosti.
