Not another medical scandal This book details the author’s struggle to regain her life after being permanently damaged by the implantation of surgical mesh. Whilst the horrific details of what happened to her will sometimes be distressing, the story is told with humour and disarming candour. After being gaslighted by her implanting surgeon, Louise concludes the Tension-free Vaginal Tape (TVT) used in an operation to treat pelvic organ prolapse and stress urinary incontinence needs removing but only then discovers it is meant to be a permanent device. Further explorations lead to the discovery that the MHRA licensed the implant and NICE gave it a Gold Standard Award, on the back of no long-term trials. She learns there is no set protocol for treating women with mesh complications and most consultants who implanted the devices do not have the experience to remove them. Štyri roky po vzniku Československej republiky bola rozhodnutím Svätej stolice zriadená Trnavská apoštolská administratúra. Do jej čela bol vymenovaný Pavol Jantausch, dovtedajší farár obce Ludanice. Apoštolská administratúra nebola riadnou diecézou, v zmysle cirkevného práva a Jantausch bol prvé tri roky iba v pozícií apoštolského administrátora. Dobrým a spoľahlivým konaním, si zachoval dôveru Svätej stolice, ktorá ho v roku 1925 vybrala za biskupa a ponechala v Trnave. Ako biskup sa musel vysporiadať s nedostatkom kňazov a vysokým počtom neobsadených fár. Najväčšie starosti mu iste robil nevydaný a nevysporiadaný cirkevný majetok po Ostrihomskej arcidiecéze, ktorej majetky sa po rozpade monarchie nachádzali na území Československa.
Pavol Jantausch bol malý vzrastom, ale po dvadsaťdvaročnom pôsobení v úlohe biskupa zanechal po sebe kompletne zariadenú a vybudovanú administratúru so všetkým, čo po cirkevnej stránke pre plnohodnotné fungovanie potrebovala: veľký kňazský seminár, bohosloveckú fakultu, biskupské gymnázium, kapitulu kanonikov, súdny tribunál. Pozval niekoľko mužských a ženských reholí, aby v administratúre pastoračne vypomohli a jednej ženskej reholi sa stal aj duchovným otcom a ochrancom – sestrám premonštrátkam. Všetky tieto vymenované a Jantauschom založené inštitúcie existujú dodnes. Rovnako aj všetky rehoľné komunity, ktoré pozval, sú dodnes na tomto území aktívne.
Aj po sto rokoch od jeho biskupskej vysviacky, osoba takmer zabudnutého „malého biskupa“ dokáže nadchnúť a zaujať svojím príbehom. Pre dnešnú spoločnosť, tak cirkevnú ako aj svetskú, ponúka jeho životný príbeh príklad obľúbeného biskupa, ktorý svedomitou a dôslednou prácou dosiahol úctyhodné výsledky.

On se považoval za rebela a ona za vzorňačku. Na prvním rande Václav Kamilu podrobil vědomostnímu testu, který hravě zvládla. A zvládala i všechno další, co manželství s básníkem, literárním kritikem, filozofem, matematikem, chartistou, kotelníkem, vězněm a politikem Bendou obnášelo: šest dětí, domovní prohlídky, návštěvy manžela v kriminálu, revoluční radost i porevoluční tlak a výhrůžky.
Manželé Bendovi nevyvěšovali praporky, chodili do kostela a v době, kdy vrcholila hysterická kampaň proti Chartě 77, ji Václav Benda podepsal. Bylo mu třicet let a mezi disidenty ho skoro nikdo neznal. To se ale brzy změnilo. Dvakrát se stal mluvčím Charty 77, byl jedním ze zakladatelů Výboru na obranu nespravedlivě stíhaných a Státní bezpečnost ho považovala za jednoho ze svých nejnebezpečnějších protivníků. Potrestali ho tím, že ho poslali na čtyři roky do vězení, kde seděl s dalšími „vonsáky“ Václavem Havlem a Jiřím Dienstbierem.
Kamila s dětmi za ním jezdila na návštěvy, posílala balíčky a dopisy, ale zároveň bez „generála“ Bendy objevila svoji vlastní sílu.

Václav Majer, hlava neústupná, srdce odvážné
Václav Majer (22. 1. 1904 Pochvalov – 26. 1. 1972 Cheverly, Maryland, USA) je známý především z krátkého poválečného období let 1945–1948, tedy takzvané třetí republiky, kdy byl hlavním představitelem „pravicového“ křídla v sociálnědemokratické straně. Kniha se však neomezuje pouze na tuto vrcholnou etapu Majerova politického angažmá, nýbrž sleduje celou jeho kariéru, která započala zkraje dvacátých let na Lounsku a uzavřela se o padesát let později na předměstí Washingtonu. Během půlstoletí zastával Václav Majer různé posty, od regionálního stranického funkcionáře přes ministra až po předsedu exilové sociální demokracie. Kromě analýzy jeho veřejných aktivit a proměn jeho vztahů s ostatními individuálními i kolektivními politickými aktéry publikace rovněž přináší pohled na formování a působení jednoho proudu v sociální demokracii. Proudu, o němž je s ohledem na jeho obezřetný přístup ke KSČ možné hovořit jako o sociálnědemokratické pravici.
Jaroslava Tvrzníková
První autorizovaná monografie divadelní, filmové a televizní herečky Jaroslavy Tvrzníkové (1940). Zachycuje život soukromý, umělecký, ale i občanský. Po první významné filmové roli ve snímku Robinsonka (1956) následovaly i další herecké příležitosti a absolutorium na pražské DAMU. Šestnáct let strávila v angažmá v pražském Národním divadle. Po svatbě s hercem Martinem Štěpánkem ze slavného hereckého rodu však přišla léta, kdy se mladý pár pro své politické názory a postoje dostával do střetů s normalizačním režimem. Mnohaletý nátlak ze strany moci vyústil v rozhodnutí opustit Československo. Jak se coby herci uplatnili v cizím jazykovém prostředí? S jakými pocity se po třinácti letech vraceli do rodné země?
