Ve listopadu 2022 uspořádaly v Praze Filozofická fakulta a Katolická teologická fakulta Univerzity Karlovy mezinárodní konferenci, která nabídla různé pohledy na dění v podunajském dualistickém soustátí v poslední fázi jeho existence a na situaci v českých zemích po roce 1918. Kolektivní monografie předkládá v upravené a vzájemně provázané podobě příspěvky, které na konferenci zazněly, a k nim připojuje ještě několik dalších textů.Literární, společenské a kulturní reflexe tohoto přelomového období umožňují nejen nahlédnout do minulosti, ale rovněž poskytují hlubší porozumění tomu, jak zásadní dějinné zvraty ovlivňují lidské myšlení a tvořivost.
