This work explores a Christian understanding of God's presence in the world. As the Creator of all that exists, the Creator-Trinity is mysteriously present to all things, and truly but imperfectly knowable as such. In addition to this creative presence, however, there is also the manifestation of God's presence as a gift of grace. By supernatural faith, the trinitarian life of God is made known to us as an object of the Christian mystical life. This life is centered especially upon God's unique presence by way of Incarnation, human life, death, and resurrection, in the person of Jesus of Nazareth. This work explores these notions in comparison with other religious traditions, in a Catholic as well as ecumenical perspective. Original considerations are offered regarding the nature of scriptural inspiration, the Church as the mystical body of Christ, and the sacraments as instrumental expressions of the Incarnation, all with a view to the notion of mystical experience, and union with God. Principles of Catholic Theology, Book 5 is a continuation of Fr. Thomas Joseph White's collection of essays, extending over a range of fundamental topics in Catholic dogmatic theology.

Církevní otcové vždy zaujímali v křesťanské teologii mimořádné místo. Samozřejmě jako první po apoštolech vykládali evangelium. Z jejich slov často dýchá svěžest a opravdovost evangelia, snad díky tomu, jak blízko měli k událostem, jež nám přinesly spásu. Navíc to byli myslitelé, kteří se jako první dobrali plného významu toho, co Písmo říká o Trojici a o Kristově osobě. Některé základní pravdy, které formulovali, byly později vloženy do velkých vyznání víry rané církve.

Skutočný Ježiš
Tretí knižný titul „biblickej edície“ vydavateľstva Minor nesie titul „Skutočný Ježiš. Mylné hľadanie historického Ježiša a pravdivosť tradičných evanjelií“. Jeho autorom je významný americký odborník na Nový Zákon a historik raného kresťanstva Luke Timothy Johnson, ktorý je v našom jazykovom prostredí známy vďaka českej edícii Sacra Pagina. Johnson v knihe reaguje na fenomén tzv. „Ježišovho seminára“, ktorý sa síce odohrával v americkom prostredí, no jeho východiská a prístupy pri skúmaní dostupných kánonických i mimo-kánonických svedectiev v snahe o uchopenie historickej osoby Ježiša zostávajú trvalým kameňom úrazu pre porozumenie tomu, kto Ježiš bol a aký dopad má jeho „historickosť“ na človeka. Ak totiž máme vôbec používať vyjadrenie „skutočný Ježiš“, nemalo by sa vzťahovať na historicky rekonštruovaného Ježiša. Takýto žid by nebol „skutočný“ v žiadnom zmysle, iba ak v rovine produktu vedeckej predstavivosti... To v textoch Nového zákona, dodnes odovzdávaných, je v súlade s kresťanským nárokom prítomný „skutočný Ježiš“, Ježiš literárne vpísaný do novozákonných kompozícií ako kompozícií, Ježiš ako konkrétna, špecifická osoba, ktorá svojím životom a smrťou definuje model ľudskej existencie. Knihu z anglického originálu preložil slovenský biblista Pavel Prihatný.
V „biblickej edícii“ vydavateľstva Minor doposiaľ vyšla kniha Paola Merla, „Náboženstvo antického Izraela“ (2023), odborníka na antický Blízky východ, a kniha novozákonného biblistu Romana Pennu, „Pavol. Z Tarzu do Ríma: cesta veľkého inovátora“ (2024). V rámci edície vydavateľstvo pripravuje aj ďalšie dva tituly, ktoré sa budú venovať vzniku evanjelií a Skutkom apoštolov.

Zároveň chce sprostredkovať nadobudnutú skúsenosť pastoračného kňaza, že bez viery v Boha je ľudský život chudobnejší a bez finálneho zmyslu života i jeho aspektov aj prázdnejší. Jeho dobre mienené rady vyúsťujú do najpodstatnejšieho, čo napísal v závere knihy: 'Láska bola, je a vždy bude najväčším zmyslom života a najvzácnejším zdrojom všetkej krásy. Jej inšpiráciu vidíme na stavbách, obrazoch, sochách, čítame v knihách, či počúvame v krásnej hudbe. Jej najkrajšie prejavy sú však v srdciach ľudí.' Túto skúsenosť a vzácnu vedomosť chce autor s pastoračnou láskou a duchovným zanietením odovzdať ako vzácne dedičstvo a posolstvo i mladej generácii.
Samotné dielo sa venuje veľmi dôležitej a prepotrebnej tematike. Tou je príprava mládeže na prijatie sviatosti birmovania, ktorá sa každoročne uskutočňuje v stovkách farností po celom Slovensku. Hľadať najvhodnejší a najlepší spôsob, ako sa mladým ľuďom priblížiť a odovzdať im poklad katolíckej viery, je čoraz naliehavejší a náročnejší. Každá takáto publikácia je teda prínosom, nakolko ponúka viaceré pohľady a možnosti ako odovzdanie náboženských poznatkov aplikovať.

Víťazstvo nad hriešnym strachom
John Flavel (1627 – 1691) bol anglický presbyteriánsky kazateľ a jeden z najobľúbenejších autorov duchovnej literatúry v ére puritánov. Po ukončení štúdia na University College v Oxforde slúžil ako pastor v meste Dartmouth v čase intenzívnych náboženských nepokojov. V roku 1662 bol vylúčený z úradu kazateľa, no pokračoval v kazateľskej a pastoračnej službe tajne, čím preukázal obdivuhodnú odvahu a oddanosť.
Flavelove diela boli známe svojou vrúcnosťou, jasnosťou, hlbokým duchovným poznaním a schopnosťou sprístupniť komplexné teologické pravdy bežným čitateľom. Jeho diela sa zameriavajú na kresťanský život, pričom zdôrazňujú dôveru v Božiu prozreteľnosť, pestovanie vnútornej viery a vytrvanie v skúškach. Aj storočia po Flavelovej smrti patria jeho diela k obľúbenému čítaniu a sú cenené pre svoju precítenú zbožnosť a praktickú múdrosť, a naďalej inšpirujú čitateľov k úsiliu o získanie hlbšej, vytrvalejšej viery.
Dielo Víťazstvo nad hriešnym strachom ponúka liek na emóciu strachu, ktorá je prirodzene prítomná u všetkých ľudí, no ktorá môže svojou intenzitou a tendenciou spochybňovať Boží charakter a Jeho Slovo prerásť do hriešnej neviery a malomyseľnosti.
Mystik hmoty
Jezuita a paleontolog Pierre Teilhard de Chardin je autorem jedné z nejodvážnějších křesťanských vizí 20. století. Po většinu života narážel na odpor církevních autorit a značná část jeho díla mohla vyjít teprve posmrtně. Teilhard chápe svět jako otevřený proces, do něhož je člověk plně vtažen a za jehož další podobu nese spoluodpovědnost. Evoluce pro něj není jen vesmírný děj, ale také pohyb dějin a ducha, jehož osobním středem je Kristus. Jeho představa sjednocování v různosti je naléhavým odkazem pro dobu válek a rozdělených společností.
Land Is Kin
Honorable Mention: Best First book in the History of Religions Responding to Vine Deloria, Jr.’s call for all people to “become involved” in the struggle to protect Indigenous sacred sites, Dana Lloyd’s Land Is Kin proposes a rethinking of sacred sites, and a rethinking of even land itself. Deloria suggested using the principle of religious freedom, but this principle has failed Indigenous peoples for decades. Lloyd argues that religious freedom fails Indigenous claimants because settler law creates a tension between two competing rights—one party’s religious freedom and another party’s property rights. In this contest, the right of property will always win. Through an analysis of the 1988 US Supreme Court case Lyng v. Northwest Indian Cemetery Protective Association, which she interprets as a case about sovereignty and the meaning of land, Lloyd proposes a multilayered understanding of land and the different roles it can simultaneously play. Rejecting the binary logic of sacred religion versus secular property, Lloyd uses the legal dispute over the High Country—an area of the Six Rivers National Forest in Northern California sacred to the Yurok, Karuk, and Tolowa Indigenous nations—to show that there are at least five different, but not equally valid, ways to understand land in the Lyng case: home, property, sacred site, wilderness, and kin. To protect the High Country, the Yurok filed a religious freedom lawsuit but then proceeded to describe the land as their home in court. They lobbied for protecting the High Country through a wilderness designation even as they continued to argue that they had been managing it for centuries. They have purchased large parcels of ancestral land and also declare the land their kin, a relationship that ostensibly excludes the possibility of ownership. Land Is Kin demonstrates the complexity of land in contemporary religious, political, and legal discourse. By drawing on Indigenous perspectives on the land as kin, Lloyd points toward a framework that shifts sovereignty away from binary oppositions—between property and sacred site, between the federal government and Native nations—towards seeing the land itself as sovereign.

Berie do úvahy náukové vyhlásenia, ktoré Duch Svätý v priebehu stáročí vnukol Cirkvi, a pomáha osvecovať nové situácie a problémy, ktoré sa v minulosti neobjavili. KKC, podobne ako Tridentský katechizmus, sa delí na štyri časti, ktoré Ján Pavol II. prirovnal „k štyrom vetám veľkej symfónie“: 1. Vyznanie viery (v čo Cirkev verí), 2. Slávenie kresťanského tajomstva (sviatosti), 3. Život v Kristovi (život v Duchu a Božie prikázania), 4. Kresťanská modlitba (čo a ako sa Cirkev modlí). Impulz na jeho zostavenie vznikol pri príležitosti spomienky na 20. výročie skončenia koncilu, keď Ján Pavol II. dňa 25. januára 1985 zvolal mimoriadne zasadnutie Biskupskej synody, kde synodálni otcovia vyjadrili želanie, aby sa pripravil koncept katechizmu katolíckeho učenia, ktorý by bol orientačným bodom pre miestne katechizmy. Kompendium katolíckej viery, ktoré vzniklo na základe požiadavky biskupov na ich mimoriadnom zhromaždení, Ján Pavol II. považoval za najzrelšie a najbohatšie ovocie koncilového učenia.
