"A közgazdaságtani gondolkodás mai fő áramlatai sok szempontból a felvilágosodás univerzalista tudományeszményének örökösei. Olyan "általános" összefüggéseket és törvényszerűségéket hirdetnek, melyek az ígéret szerint minden emberi közösségben egyformán érvényesek és alkalmazhatók. A geopolitikai gondolkodásmód segít felismerni az ilyen univerzális (egész pontosan: univerzalista) eszmények mögött megbúvó rejtett hatalmi érdekeket, dominanciaviszonyokat. A közgazdasági modellek univerzális érvényességébe vetett hit tehát a globalizáció egyik legfontosabb hajtóereje, ideológiai muníciója. Ezzel szemben a következetes geopolitikai gondolkodás rávilágít arra, hogy ezek az elképzelések többé-kevésbé maguk is adott történelmi és társadalmi szituációk derivátumai.
Az Oikumené Könyvekkel a hazai közgazdasági gondolkodás és szaknyelv fejlődéséhez szeretnénk hozzájárulni. Tudománypolitikai (és ezen keresztül geopolitikai) érdekünk fűződik ahhoz, hogy magyar nyelven is hozzáférhetővé váljanak a legnépszerűbb angolszász közgazdasági szerzők művei. Ezáltal mintegy belülről tanulmányozhatjuk ezeket a közgazdasági elméleteket. Megértjük, hogy pontosan milyen problémákra adnak választ, milyen társadalmi igények hívták életre őket. Az így felismert társadalmi- gazdasági mintákat lehetőségünk nyílik összevetni a saját társadalmi valóságunkkal, és ezáltal jobban látjuk azt is, hogy mit vegyünk, és mit ne vegyünk át ezekből az elméletekből. Nem mindegy az sem, hogy amit végül átveszünk, azt hogyan alkalmazzuk a saját társadalmunkban, figyelembe véve a saját hagyományainkat és geopolitikai helyzetünket is. Sylvia Nasar neve a magyar olvasóközönség előtt sem ismeretlen: ő a szerzője az Egy csodálatos elme című bestsellernek is, amely a zseniális matematikus, John Nash (a játékelmélet kidolgozója) viszontagságos életútját mutatja be a Nobel-díj átvételéig. The influx of African migrants into Europe in recent years has raised important issues about changing labor economies, new technologies of border control, and the effects of armed conflict. But attention to such broad questions often obscures a fundamental fact of migration: its effects on ordinary life. A magyar turanizmus jellegzetesen magyar és teljességgel elhallgatott eszmeáramlat: akik benne voltak, igyekeztek ennek még a nyomait is eltüntetni, akik meg csak hallottak róla, szent borzadállyal emlegették. Fehérlóáldozást idéz és habókos praktikákat. Pedig a magyar közvéleményt a 19. század eleje óta izgatta a magyarság keleti eredete és nyugati mintakövetése közti ellentmondás.
Vissza kell-e fordulnunk keletre? Létrejöhet-e a "turáni népek" összefogása? Van-e a magyaroknak küldetésük Keleten? Vagy éppen Nyugaton?
Száz évvel ezelőtt, a világháború alatt magyar expedíciók rótták Anatólia, a Balkán és Dél-Oroszország útjait, a magyar kormány hatalmas összegeket áldozott, hogy keleti ösztöndíjasokat hozzon Magyarországra, magyar üzletemberek próbáltak piacot találni a Közel-Keleten és a turanizmus divatjának köszönhető az első külföldi magyar intézet megnyitása is. Felbukkan benne a turáni egyistenhívő rádióműszerész, a feministából lett vércsoportkutató földbirtokosleány, a monoklis múzeumalapító, aki egyszerre találta ki a világbékét és a lövészárokásó gépet, néhány pénzhamisító, illetve a mérnök, aki megalapította a magyar-maori rokonságot. Turanista emlékek között élünk - csak nem tudunk róla.
Ablonczy Balázs (1974) történész, az ELTE BTK oktatója és az MTA BTK Történettudományi Intézetének tudományos főmunkatársa. Doktori címét 2004-ben szerezte, tanított és kutatott Londonban, Párizsban, Berlinben és az Egyesült Államokbeli Bloomingtonban. 2011 és 2015 között a Párizsi Magyar Intézet igazgatója volt. Jelenleg az MTA Lendület-pályázatán támogatott Trianon 100 nevű kutatócsoport vezetője, Budapesten él.
Konfrontace hodnot v pozdní modernitě
Kniha se zabývá působením modernizačních a globalizačních trendů na hodnotové orientace, normy a klíčové aspekty životního způsobu české a hlučínské populace v evropském kontextu. Autoři vycházejí z teoretické koncepce S. H. Schwartze a analyzují rozsáhlé empirické zdroje vlastního šetření (2014) a mezinárodních šetření (European Social Survey 2012, European Values Study 2008). Práce je zaměřena především na projevy modernizace dotýkající se hodnotové orientace obyvatel a způsobu jejich myšlení ve vztahu k sekularizaci současné společnosti, uspořádání mezilidských vztahů v rodině, podobě sociálního kapitálu a proměnám způsobu života. Poznatky z lokálního výzkumu na Hlučínsku jsou porovnávány s modernizací v ČR i dalších evropských zemích a umožňují autorům klást otázky po povaze univerzalizace současného způsobu života. Autoři a autorky se snaží hlouběji pochopit také roli regionálních společenství v průběhu modernizačních a globalizačních procesů.
Environmentální spolupráce jako nástroj řešení konfliktů
Šest případových studií, na nichž je testována koexistence environmentální spolupráce s politickým konfliktem (Indie-Pákistán, Korea-Korea, Arménie-Ázerbájdžán, Čína-Taiwan, Thajsko-Kambodža a Palestina-Izrael). Navzdory rostoucímu počtu projektů deklarujících využití environmentální spolupráce jako nástroje transformace a řešení konfliktů se autorky domnívají, že podmínky vzniku environmentální spolupráce a jejího fungování v konfliktních oblastech jsou značně nejasné. Ačkoliv existují mnohé studie konkrétních případů, chybí systematická analýza a výzkum prostřednictvím jednotného analytického rámce či testování konkrétních hypotéz u více případů. Tuto mezeru zaplňuje předkládaná kniha, která nabízí analýzu vzniku a fungování environmentální spolupráce v oblastech politických konfliktů. Vychází ve spolupráci se Západočeskou univerzitou v Plzni.
