Publikace se věnuje méně známému řemeslnému fenoménu, jehož minulosti, sociálním a kulturním souvislostem existence byla doposud věnována jen malá pozornost. Kniha zpřístupňuje výsledky několikaletého historicko-etnologického výzkumu realizovaného Václavem Michaličkou. Autor se svém textu věnuje nejen historickým okolnostem uplatnění této rukodělné výroby v českém prostředí. Svoji pozornost zaměřil také k tomu, nakolik tato specifická výroba ovlivnila život lokálního společenství i jednotlivých rodin pilníkářů na pomezí Moravy a Čech.
Yayoi Kusama - All About My Love
Avant-garde artist Yayoi Kusama's matchless creativity and originality have been captivating the world since she moved from Matsumoto, her hometown in Nagano, Japan, to the USA in 1958. In the last ten years alone, her retrospective exhibitions in four major European and American museums, including Tate Modern, London, and the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, have seen record attendance.
Kusama has continuously innovated and re-invented her style. Well-known for her repeating dot patterns, her art encompasses an astonishing variety of media, including painting, drawing, sculpture, film, performance and immersive installation. This comprehensive publication, originally published to accompany a sell-out exhibition at Matsumoto City Museum of Art, offers a comprehensive overview of Kusama's entire career, including works from her youth, when she indulged in drawing in order to escape from her hallucinations; paintings made when she was based in New York, including 'Infinity Nets' and 'Polka Dots'; works from the1980s and 1990s, when she participated in the Venice Biennale; and last but not least, the ongoing large-scale series 'My Eternal Soul'. The plates are in chronological order and followed by detailed captions.

Kulmenie si televízni diváci veľmi obľúbili. Rozhodli sme sa vám teda to najlepšie z neho priniesť aj v knižnej podobe. Texty vznikali na základe rešeršov článkov, vyhľadávania na internete i osobných poznatkov odborníkov z rôznych oblastí umenia. Az Országház üvegművészete
Aki valaha meglátogatta az Országházat, annak nem kell sokat mesélni az épület különleges hangulatáról. Az itt dolgozók is napról napra szembesülhetnek azzal, hogy az Országház folyton új köntösbe öltözik. A színeváltozásért leginkább az ólomkeretbe foglalt díszüvegezés a felelős: borús, őszi estéken fényt és derengést hoz a folyosókra; vidám, tavaszi reggeleken pedig játékos motívumai kelnek életre. A dunai oldal folyosóinak ablakai a látkép tökéletesen rejtőzködő kiegészítői, ugyanakkor a főbejárati keresztfolyosó körablakai az épület igazi gyöngyszemei, melyek dolgos órákban gyönyörködtetik a szemet - lévén, hogy megvilágításukhoz az irodai folyosók fénye szükséges. Cílem této publikace je pokusit se alespoň parciálně zmapovat probíhající proměnu institucionálního přístupu k divákům a zaměřit se na postoje současných uměleckých institucí, jako jsou muzea umění, galerie, nebo centra pro současné umění. Ústředním tématem knihy je divácký prožitek umění, jeho podoba a závažnost v kontextu uměleckého provozu. Autorku zajímá, jak se proměny v institucionálním myšlení promítly do skutečného vnímání a postojů diváků, jaké jsou charakteristiky dnešní divačky a diváka, jaká mají očekávání a jak lze se znalostí těchto informací pracovat v konkrétní institucionální praxi. Culled and assembled by Romeyn Beck Hough between 1888 and 1913 in what still remains a stunning and unparalleled achievement, American Woods-originally published in 14 volumes, with actual specimens mounted on card stock-is a work of breathtaking beauty that has set the standard for the study of trees and wood.The Woodbook reproduces, in painstaking facsimile, all of the specimen pages from the original volumes; for this purpose, TASCHEN obtained an extremely rare original set of volumes in very good condition, with minimal damage to the wood cuts.
Arranged in alphabetical order, each tree is broken down into three different cross-section cuts of wood (radial, horizontal, and tangential), demonstrating the particular characteristics of the grain and the wealth of colors and textures to be found among the many different wood types.
Also included in this special edition are lithographs by Charles Sprague Sargent of the leaves and nuts of most trees, as well as texts explaining each tree's geographical origins and physical characteristics.
Basquiat by Himself
Jean-Michel Basquiat's self-portraits are regarded as being among the most important of his radical creative works. In addition to some 50 specific portraits of himself, we can also see his series of likenesses of African-American men as concealed reproductions of the artist. Not least because Basquiat, who was affected himself by everyday racism, identified with his heroes, saints and martyrs as he portrayed them. Thus his major topics from identity, discrimination and prejudice to capitalism, the market and oppression are all to be found in these key works.
Lucian Freud - The Self-portraits
In 1964 Lucian Freud set his students at the Norwich College of Art an assignment: to paint naked self-portraits and to make them 'revealing, telling, believable... really shameless'. It was advice that the artist was often to follow himself. Visceral, unflinching and often nude, Freud's self-portraits give us an insight into the development of his style as a painter. The works provide the viewer with a constant reminder of the artist's overwhelming presence, whether he is confronting the viewer directly or only present as a shadow or in a reflection.
