The Cat Who Saved the Library
The instant Sunday Times bestseller.
The must-have sequel to Sosuke Natsukawa's bestselling The Cat Who Saved Books - an uplifting tale from Japan about a talking cat and the power of books to make a difference in the world.
Thirteen-year-old Nanami Kosaki loves reading. The local library has become a home from home and books are her friends. When Nanami notices that some of her favourite books are disappearing from the library shelves, she becomes suspicious of a man in a grey suit whose furtive behaviour doesn't feel right.
Should she follow him to see what he's up to? It wouldn't be dangerous . . . would it?
When a smart-talking tabby cat called Tiger appears and issues a grave warning about how dangerous that would be, they decide to team up and investigate. Where have all the books gone? And can the unlikely duo overcome the challenges ahead?
Warm, wonderful and wise, The Cat Who Saved the Library is a powerful lesson never to underestimate the value of great literature, and a reminder to always think for ourselves.

This book provides yoga therapists with the resources they need to make their services accessible to autistic adults without intellectual disability. Elizabeth Walen Walunas, an experienced autistic yoga therapist, examines the social and medical contexts of autism and explores ways of integrating this knowledge into yogic practices. The Unsinkable Titanic
In this unparalleled investigation that deconstructs the modern hindsight that has tainted Titanic’s legacy, Allen Gibson presents a comprehensive history with a refreshing argument, that Titanic represented a considerable achievement in maritime architecture. Telling the story of the ‘unsinkable’ ship against a backdrop of a tumultuous and rapidly emerging technological world, he exposes the people and the circumstances that contributed to the disaster, and the blame that went on in its aftermath. This updated and expanded edition further unravels the mindset that wilfully dispatched the world’s largest ship out to sea with a famously deficient supply of lifeboats, and lays bare the technology so dramatically destroyed.

My Father and the Silver King
Ambrose Erswell ran away from home in London’s East End when he was seven years old, lived on the streets and joined a gang of child pickpockets. At nine he signed on as a “ship’s boy” on a clipper ship sailing to South America — an experience so grim he vowed never to go to sea again. In a bicycle shop, where he found a job, he saw his first automobile. It was the beginning of a lifelong passion for cars. By twelve years of age he’d become a chauffeur. When he saw The Silver King, a melodrama in which the wronged hero is redeemed after making a fortune in a silvermine in South America, he decided that his life must follow a similar trajectory. Like the hero of the play, this cockney lad, who would eventually (in his mid-fifties) become the author’s father, left England and made a fortune in an unlikely business in Australia. The author traces her attraction to the music of the Piraeus underworld and the men who sang the rembetika to her father and to the Music Hall songs she was raised on.

Unity through Particularism
Why do supposedly accountability-enhancing electoral reforms often fail in young democracies? How can legislators serve their constituents when parties control the necessary resources? Unity through Particularism sheds light on these questions and more by explaining how parties can use personal vote-seeking incentives in order to decrease intra-party dissent. Studying a unique electoral reform in Mexico, the book provides a detailed description of how institutional incentives can conflict. It draws on a variety of rich, original data sources on legislative behavior and organization in 20 Mexican states to develop a novel explanation of how electoral reforms can amplify competing institutional incentives. In settings where legislative rules and candidate selection procedures favor parties, legislators may lack the resources necessary to build voter support. If this is the case, party leaders can condition access to these resources on loyalty to the party's political agenda.

Chain of Ideas
A revelatory account of the racist conspiracy theory that now pervades global politics – from the prize-winning author of the million-copy bestseller How To Be an Antiracist‘An essential framework for parsing current events . . . meticulously researched . . . worthwhile and accessible . . . also offers a modicum of hope’ Arwa Mahdawi, GuardianThroughout the world, authoritarian movements are radically reshaping our politics and our lives. At the heart of them all lies ‘great replacement theory’, which insists that peoples of colour, migrants and minorities are being deliberately empowered to displace white majorities. In Chain of Ideas, Ibram X. Kendi shows how this conspiracy theory has mutated from the extremist fringe into a global ideology, embraced by leaders as varied as Marine Le Pen, Viktor Orbán, Narendra Modi, Jair Bolsonaro, Nigel Farage, Benjamin Netanyahu and Donald Trump. He traces its historic roots in slavery, segregation, colonialism and Nazism, and shows how these age-old prejudices have been dressed in new language for a digital age. But this is not a book about extremists on the margins. From Anders Breivik’s massacre to the chants of the Charlottesville marchers, from Brexit slogans to the Christchurch shooting, Kendi shows how these ideas have crossed borders, inspired terror and are now re-shaping parties of government. Chain of Ideas is a penetrating history of how reactionary ideas have been repackaged as common sense, and how they shape the globe today. PRAISE FOR IBRAM X.
