100 Cult Films
In this follow up to their 100 Cult Films, Ernest Mathijs and Xavier Mendik provide a guide to one hundred more incredible films from the history and present of cult cinema around the world, from the 1911 Italian silent Dante''s Inferno to Jordan Peele''s 2017 horror classic Get Out. Their richly-illustrated guide addresses the work of filmmakers including Stanley Kubrick, Paul Verhoeven, Julien Temple, Ana Lily Amirpour, Lizzie Borden, Rob Reiner and John Carpenter, and movies from countries ranging from Iran to Peru, South Korea to Sweden, Japan to the USA. By presenting 100 films that confirm and interrogate the notion of what makes a film a ‘cult film’, 100 Cult Films Redux reinvigorates the debate about cult cinema while affirming its foundations in today’s volatile and vibrant cultural climate.

The New Flesh
It had taken, at most, three seconds for the elevator to pass downwards from the sixteenth to the twelfth ... Mr Meldrum had ceased to be, and something hideously different took his place. A man convinced that he has developed a phantom beak edges towards a terrible metamorphosis. Interlopers dismissing the superstitions of hare-women in the countryside pay for their scepticism with blood. The cruel jokes of a girl at the village festival of the Green Man lead her to a crueller transfiguring in the woods. Tracing the quintessential horror concept of the strange transformation from the Victorian era through to the modern day, horror writer, expert and enthusiast Mark Morris presents a thrilling selection of metamorphic tales. Including stories of bestial shapeshifters such as the tiger-men, fox spirits and werewolves of world folklore, this collection also presents some of the weirder shifts of the horror genre, where a flatworm masquerades as a boy, a girl becomes one with a bridge, and a babe-in-arms and her beekeeper father come to reflect the creatures of the hives.

Revoluce.
Inspirace k řešení konfliktních situací dětí a dospívajících
Sedem kapitol – Spor s dejinami, Neisté Ja, Nesamozrejmá krajina, Poviedka, Identita, Rodina, Rod, Bilancia a Cudzinec predstavujú tvorbu Jána Roznera, Ivany Dobrakovovej, Richarda Pupalu, Vandy Rozenbergovej, Veroniky Šikulovej, Pavla Vilikovského a Ivana Medešiho.
The Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn
Occultism has long been associated with the visual and literary arts, the wild and the avant-garde, and nowhere was this more embodied than in the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. Founded in London in the 1880s by Freemasons, it was the world's most famous secret society. In this fresh, bracing narrative history, Felix John Taylor recounts its rise and fall through the men and women for whom the Order represented both an alternative to traditional Victorian religious values and a space for imaginative exploration.
Devoted to the study of ceremonial magic, the Order attracted a long list of eminent writers, actors and visual artists to its ranks. It looked towards a 'golden age' of spiritual enlightenment, with progressive ideals - class and gender were no barriers to entry - and teachings from tarot to alchemy and astral projection that were gradually unveiled as members ascended ten 'grades'.
While its temples were formally spaces to practice magic, Taylor finds that the Golden Dawn was at various points more an arts club or society of writers. Political schisms and sex scandals ensured that it was short-lived, yet for many members its occult practices came to shape their work and influence the wider culture over a much longer period.
The Golden Dawn, with its role in the foundation of Wicca and modern developments in magic, is a vital thread connecting Victorian esotericism to the present-day occult revival. This visually arresting, meticulously researched literary history teases out these connections, while offering a compelling account of the Order and its members.
Kéž by to platilo vždy.
A možná zasáhly i vás.
Makary vás provede příběhy výzkumů, lékařských rozhodnutí a pacientů, u nichž zdravotní systém selhal – ne kvůli absenci důkazů, ale navzdory nim.
- Rutinní podávání antibiotik ničí mikrobiom a zvyšuje riziko obezity, astmatu, diabetu i duševních poruch.
