Liga výjimečných omnibus (základní verze)
Londýn, rok 1898. Viktoriánská éra se pomalu uzavírá, nadchází dvacáté století. Po stagnaci přichází čas velkých změn, doba cudného pořádku i sprostého chaosu. Doba si žádá hrdinů. Těmi není nikdo jiný než Wilhelmina Murrayová, Allan Quatermain, kapitán Nemo, Hawley Griffin, doktor Jekyll a pan Hyde.

Anna Karenina
Love... it means too much to me, far more than you can understand. At its simplest, Anna Karenina is a love story. It is a portrait of a beautiful and intelligent woman whose passionate love for a handsome officer sweeps aside all other ties - to her marriage and to the network of relationships and moral values that bind the society around her. The love affair of Anna and Vronsky is played out alongside the developing romance of Kitty and Levin, and in the character of Levin, closely based on Tolstoy himself, the search for happiness takes on a deeper philosophical significance. One of the greatest novels ever written, Anna Karenina combines penetrating psychological insight with an encyclopedic depiction of Russian life in the 1870s. The novel takes us from high society St Petersburg to the threshing fields on Levin''s estate, with unforgettable scenes at a Moscow ballroom, the skating rink, a race course, a railway station. It creates an intricate labyrinth of connections that is profoundly satisfying, and deeply moving. Rosamund Bartlett''s translation conveys Tolstoy''s precision of meaning and emotional accuracy in an English version that is highly readable and stylistically faithful. Like her acclaimed biography of Tolstoy, it is vivid, nuanced, and compelling.

Masque of Honor
From the bestselling author of Veil of Doubt and The Grays of Truth comes a riveting tale of political intrigue, romance, and betrayal set in antebellum Virginia. John "Jack" Mason McCarty and his second cousin Armistead Mason are proud sons of the Virginia aristocracy-and as different as two men can be. Deeply ambitious and politically minded, Armistead has his sights on Congress and demands a level of respect he may not deserve. Jack, too, longs to make a name for himself, if he can stop gambling and drinking long enough to use his considerable wit to his advantage. Jack has little patience for Armistead's arrogance, while Armistead views Jack as a debaucherous adolescent unworthy of honor or respect-and neither is afraid to voice his opinion of the other. A poisonous animosity begins to fester between the two men, fueled by political schemes, illicit affairs, and scandalous reports in the press. Though the women who love them urge restraint, their bitter dispute nevertheless sets into motion a devastating chain of events that risks much more than their honor. The first book in the Fields of Honor series and based on the true events behind the 1819 MasonMcCarty duel, Masque of Honor is a story of valor, conviction, and the cost of sacrificing one life to forge another.
On the Altar
How Christianity both abolished and absorbed sacrificeFrom the beginning, sacrifice lived a double life in Christianity, both abandoned and essential. Christ’s death on the cross was the sacrifice to end all sacrifice, eclipsing the temple sacrifices of Judaism and paganism. And yet at the center of the lived faith was the repetition of sacrifice: the offering of Christ’s body, the sacrifices of ancient patriarchs, and the sacrifices of martyrs woven through liturgy, theology, and popular devotion. But this double life collapsed in the Reformation. Quarreling heirs to Christian truth discovered that the sacrifices they once called Christian might be nothing of the sort. To build their new faiths—to discover the truth of Christian sacrifice—they turned to the past, learning from Christianity as it was how Christianity ought to be.In On the Altar, Jonathan Sheehan offers a new account of sacrifice both sacred and secular. His story is in part a history of the Christian imagination across the centuries of the Reformation, when new martyrs and holy warriors fought for the truth of their sacrifices, when the empire of New World sacrifice was recruited to settle Christian conflicts, and when the sacrifices of the ancient Hebrews were weaponized for orthodoxy. But it is a history of the secular imagination as well, as the vast archive of Christian sacrifice was dispersed and applied to things that humans make, their religions, politics, and societies. With On the Altar, Sheehan reveals a new history of both Christianity and the secular world in which we still live.
Enemy of My Enemy: A Daredevil Marvel Crime Novel
Los Angeles Times Book Prize winner Alex Segura (Secret Identity) pens an all-new streets-to-courtroom noir tale of the Punisher on trial for the murder of the Kingpin?with Matt Murdock as his defense attorney. Book two in the Marvel Crime series of thrillers for adult readers. When reports come in that the Kingpin and a police officer have been killed and that Frank Castle (aka the Punisher) has turned himself in for it, Matt Murdock senses holes in the narratives the media and the streets are quick to run with. Both criminals have been Matt?s nemeses when he dons the cowl of the Daredevil, and there?s no denying that New York is better off without its Kingpin and with the Punisher behind bars. And yet . . . while the Punisher is a murderous vigilante, he doesn?t kill cops. And he doesn?t turn himself in.Castle certainly deserves prison for all of the other crimes he has committed in the past. However, Matt?s indominable sense of justice insists that nobody should be locked away for crimes they didn?t actually commit. Representing the vigilante in court, Matt enters a contest of wills and guile with Castle to try and uncover the game beneath the game. And when Matt?s girlfriend takes the stand and complicates matters, there?s truly no rest for the wicked or the just. As the Kingpin?s absence causes passion and ambitions to run hot in Hell?s Kitchen, Matt must decide if justice means the letter of the law, what?s best for the citizen on the streets, or where his heart leading him.Enemy of My Enemy continues the Marvel Crime series that began with Lisa Jewell?s Breaking the Dark, and brings fans into a grittier, street-level side of the Marvel Universe. Marvel Crime novels build on one another but do not require in-depth familiarity with Marvel or the other books in the series.

Chaos Man
A blackout, a derailment, a flood—when disasters align with a mysterious countdown, Theo Cray, Jessica Blackwood, Brad Trasker, and Sloan McPherson hunt the engineer who scripts chaos. A train derails in Idaho, nearly causing a nuclear disaster. An inferno at a battery facility in Florida disrupts the electrical grid for days. A potentially devastating failure is discovered at Virginia’s Mud River Dam. To computational biologist Theo Cray, these aren’t mere infrastructure accidents. They are virtually undetectable acts of sabotage. Theo sees a mathematical pattern to the madness that few others can comprehend—except for his associates: rogue FBI agent Jessica Blackwood, private security specialist Brad Trasker, and Florida underwater investigator Sloan McPherson. If Theo’s intuition and calculations are correct, the disasters are just a warm-up. The worst is yet to come—a catastrophe that could trigger the deaths of millions across the country. Now Theo and his team are on the hunt for a mysterious saboteur whose only motive is to spread panic and chaos. And with every tick of the clock, his unthinkable endgame is getting closer to becoming a terrifying reality.
Blainville Testament
This grand collection of poetic narratives by a versatile New England poet/novelist/naturalist demonstrates that his muscular meditative line can be potently adapted to telling the stories we most hope to hear. These poems form a vivid portrait of a compelling region and salt-of-the-earth characters that moves in step with the work of other Vermont poets, such as David Budbill and Hayden Carruth.
The Anatomy of Awakening
NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER The author of The Energy Codes combines quantum science and cosmic principles with practical tools to awaken your high brain centers and access your capacity to embody divine love—right now, just as you are. In a world that feels faster, louder, and more uncertain than ever, many of us are searching for something steady to stand on. We want clarity, peace, and a sense of who we truly are, without feeling lost in the chaos. In The Anatomy of Awakening, Dr. Sue Morter, best-selling author of The Energy Codes, changes the narrative of how we understand human potential, perceive ourselves and others, and manifest the visions for our lives by learning the deeper language of the authentic self. Using this deeper language, we recover suppressed aspects of ourselves to heal completely and create the lives we are meant to live. Dr. Sue reveals a deeper inner design that underlies the human body and nervous system, helping us reconnect with a steadier, more authentic way of being. She introduces us to a Greater Love—moving beyond stress-driven reactions to feel steady, clear, and connected, even in the midst of life’s challenges. How we see ourselves changes, with an unconditionality that we’ve likely never known. Our purpose becomes clearer. Peace and healing follow. Our creative nature emerges. “...This book will change the way you see yourself, your purpose, and what is possible for your life. It is far more than a teaching—it is a living blueprint for embodying the highest expression of your soul…” — Anita Moorjani, New York Times best-selling author of Dying to Be Me Using an approach keyed to the higher states of consciousness within all of us, The Anatomy of Awakening opens what Dr. Sue describes as a “vibrational combination lock,” activating deeper levels of awareness and helping us become more masterful in how we live, feel, and respond. We align with five transformative universal principles or quantum “codes” to reveal a greater Truth:· Access our inner guidance and clarity· Move from overthinking into aligned action· Regulate the nervous system and change the way we experience life· See beyond limiting narratives· Integrate light and shadow to empower everyday life “With the precision of a master teacher and the heart of a mystic, Dr. Sue reveals the sacred ‘codes’ that dissolve the illusion of separation and awaken the God Presence in every breath, cell, and choice. This is not just a book you read, it’s an activation you live.” — Michael Bernard Beckwith, founder and CEO, Agape International Spiritual Center; author of Life Visioning and Spiritual Liberation; and host of Take Back Your Mind podcast
Riding Into History
As a member of the integrated Women’s Army Corps, Private First Class Sarah Keys served her country as a receptionist at Fort Dix, New Jersey. When she boarded a bus home to North Carolina in 1952, she never expected to be arrested and charged with disorderly conduct for refusing to move to the rear so a white Marine could take her seat. Her landmark 1955 Civil Rights victory, “Sarah Keys v. Carolina Coach Company” not only desegregated interstate bus travel, it also provided the legal precedent needed during the 1961 Freedom Rides to pressure the Interstate Commerce Commission to properly enforce its Sarah Keys ruling. Often overlooked in many accounts of the Civil Rights era, her arrest and victory are crucial milestones in the fight against segregation. Riding into History draws on years of personal conversations with Sarah Keys Evans as well as extensive research to present a biography of this hero and her role in the struggle for civil rights alongside the long history of many other Black Americans, especially women, who protested racial segregation in interstate travel.

A gorgeous new edition. L. Frank Baum's work is universally celebrated and The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is known worldwide as a classic, in particular for its 1939 musical film adaptation starring Judy Garland as Dorothy. Published in 1900, the novel depicted the young farm girl Dorothy and her pet dog Toto, who are swept away to the Land of Oz in a cyclone and meet a whole host of characters on their journey to the Emerald City. Baum was inspired by the works of the Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen, focusing on manipulating the fairy tale tradition with an American feel in the Oz series. In addition to The Wonderful Wizard of Oz (the first in the Oz series), this edition also includes the novels The Scarecrow of Oz and The Tin Woodman of Oz, centred around two of the original novel's beloved characters.

Stone
“Invaluable. . . . [What] comes across in these translations is the verve and immediacy of the poems’ occasions.”—Seamus HeaneyA groundbreaking translation of the brilliant first book by one of the twentieth century’s most important poetsStone—Osip Mandelstam’s 1913 debut—marked the arrival of perhaps the greatest Russian poet of the twentieth century, one whose refusal to bow to Soviet political and artistic dictates led to his persecution and eventual death in one of Stalin’s prison camps. Mandelstam spent his early years in St. Petersburg, and many of the poems in Stone depict the city’s vast squares, classical buildings, and Dutch canals. Other poems reflect his hunger for Western European culture, his commitment to humanistic values, and his ambition to become a master of the Russian language. This bilingual edition is based on the final version of Stone, published in 1928, and features a biographical and critical introduction and detailed annotations.
Fantasies of the Body
In this short, masterful gem of a novel, David Plante’s seasoned narrator contemplates the connection between physical beauty and love, drawing on literary references and personal experiences to explore these themes. The unnamed narrator of this brief, urgent novel, a young novelist making his way in the literary world, writes of his fascination with two enigmatic, troubled young men, one a Boston Brahmin and the other a lofty undergraduate at England’s Cambridge University whom the narrator meets during his writer-in-residency. With each young man the narrator engages in a complex relationship filled with intellectual and erotic tension and each relationship leaves him feeling unfulfilled. By contrast, the narrator relates the story of his deep and abiding romantic life with an English poet, who introduces him to the remaining members of The Bloomsbury group as well as E.M. Forster and who guides him toward the publishers who bring out his early work. However, the poet dies young, and the narrator is once against cast adrift and his quest to find new, intimate interactions with the tragic young men he encounters causes him to reflect on the nature of beauty, love, and the intellectual life, emphasizing the transient and often unfulfilled desires that drive human connections.

Unrest in the Nebulae
In unrest in the nebulae, Gitan Djeli wields prose poetry to archive five hundred years of exploitative colonization, ecocide, extinction, militarization and deportation, slavery, indenture, negotiated nationhood, postcolonial plantation structures, and apologist histories. Writing in a queer anticolonial poetics, and using lines of Kreol, Gitan Djeli mines the tension that emerges between colonialism and language, disarticulating the myth-making aesthetics of the colonial world. She tells the story of the ‘other slavery’ in the Indian Ocean and its histories of enslavement and indenture through a subversive, fragmented poetics, and often from the perspective its geologic witnesses – a misnamed ocean or the range of mountains within it or the volcanic idea of islands. In a charge of resistance to the catastrophe of modernity, unrest in the nebulae takes seriously Sylvia Wynter’s invitation to engage “a new science of the word.”
