Yulu's Linen
A talented young artist battles with the linen she’s trying to paint on in this inspiring picture book about the power of perseverance from two Hans Christian Andersen Award–winning creators.Yulu has all the makings of a great artist, her teachers and parents agree. But can she paint a self-portrait? Yulu isn’t sure, even when she finds the perfect canvas made of special linen. She summons her courage and paints. But the next day, the paint has run and oozed and dripped—the painting is ruined! Yulu picks her brush back up, but day after day, the linen of her canvas itself seems to be rebuffing her attempts. Yulu, undeterred, works on and on. More than a battle with the opinionated linen, this artistic battle is one Yulu wages with herself. Through determination and hard work, can she grow past her natural talent and prove herself worthy of the task before her?
Keshed
In the derelict shell of what was once his family home, a dying man surveys the wreckage of his former life and drinks himself senseless, haunted by the chain of events that led him there. Dark, complex, and visceral, Keshed is an unflinching character study exploring class, belonging, fatherhood, and conflicting ideals of modern masculinity. At heart, it's the story of a relationship struggling to cope with the impossible pressures of raising a child under late-stage capitalism; but it's also a love letter to the working-class North, from the grinding poverty of Thatcher's '80s to the present day.
Chicken Hill
Welcome to Chicken Hill: join Ferdy, Gripper and Tink as they investigate all things strange in their seriously weird town.
Three hilarious and off-the-wall stories in one full-colour graphic novel, perfect for fans of Dog Man and Bunny vs Monkey.
Chicken Hill: Just your average, everyday, run-of-the-mill small town, where the pets can talk, the frogs rule over a secret underwater empire and you're only ever one day away from an alien invasion.
Chicken Hill is home to Ferdy, a tech wiz with a knack for invention and a habit of running into trouble. Always with him is Gripper, his farty and self-obsessed pug, and Tink, his brother's forever-tired cat. Together, they investigate the many wild and weird happenings in town…
And whether fending off an invasion of zombie cactuses, or trying to keep an army of cloned conspiracy theorist cats out of office, there's no shortage of things to keep them busy. Because in Chicken Hill, there's only one rule: if you think things can't get weirder, they always can.
Lessons from a Default Parent
What nobody tells you about parenthood, from one of the ‘silent partners’ behind the Parenting Hell podcast.
School-run coordinator, party planner, clubs organiser, laundry sorter… and maybe even a ‘real’ job on top! Sound exhaustingly familiar?
From assumptions surrounding who is going to stay at home with the kids to the never-ending list of school admin, being ‘the default parent’ rears its head in a plethora of ways.
This book is for all the defaults out there – bored out of their eyeballs or so overwhelmed they could scream expletives into the wind for a solid hour – to know their invisible labour is seen and valued.
With heartfelt and hilarious advice, Lou Beckett provides much-needed comfort and community for the one who is depended on the most (and often feels appreciated the least), and maybe – just maybe – how we can begin to rebalance the parenting scales and muddle through a little better, together.

The Zen Parent
Zen philosophy has largely been associated with finding peace within ourselves, but in this brilliant new book, East Asian scholar Dr Yen Ooi shows how ancient Zen wisdom can be used to explore how we can practice Zen while being a parent by improving our relationships with our children and finding harmony within parenting.
In Zen texts, the concept of Sottaku Douji is exemplified by the moment when a chick is hatching out of its egg. At the moment the chick is ready to emerge, it will begin pecking at the shell around it, and the mother hen will then begin pecking from the outside too. In order for the chick to hatch, the two must delicately work together.
Using Sottaku Douji and other insights from ancient philosophy, Ooi shows how we can apply these ideas to our own lives, from working collaboratively with our children more and priming them for the future to building patience and letting go of anxiety.
And through these concepts, she shows us the steps towards practising Zen as a parent.
How to Kill a Guy in Ten Dates
This is one killer love story ...
For fans of Love in the Time of Serial Killers and Butcher & Blackbird, a horror movie fanatic gets caught in the middle of a murder spree and must use her encyclopedic knowledge of the romance and horror genres to escape a killer and become the Final Girl.

Knowing there's strength in numbers, she pulls together a band of would-be survivors to escape.
Armed with makeshift weapons and Jamie's extensive knowledge of what NOT to do in a slasher movie - starting with not splitting up - the group try to find a way out whilst the killer stalks them. Nothing speeds up love like fighting for your life and Jamie somehow finds herself in a love triangle despite the potentially deadly consequences. Has she finally found true love or does the prospect of death via machete-wielding psychopath mean she's already met her match?
Opera Wars
Blunt, irreverent, and at times wittily subversive, Opera Wars spotlights opera's colorful and sometimes warring personalities, increasingly fierce controversies over content, and the battles being waged for its economic future.
Drawing on interviews with dozens of opera insiders-as well as her own experience as an award-winning librettist, trained vocalist, opera company director, and arts commentator-Caitlin Vincent deftly unravels clichés and presumptions, exposing such debates as how much fidelity is owed to long-dead opera composers whose plots often stir racial and gender sensitivities, whether there's any cure for typecasting that leaves talented performers out of work and other performers chained to the same roles, and what explains the bizarre kowtowing of opera companies to the demands of traditionalist patrons.
Vincent never shrinks from depicting the industry's top-to-bottom messiness and its stubborn resistance to change. Yet, like a lover who can't quite break away, she always comes back to her veneration for the artform and in these pages stirringly evokes those moments on stage that can be counted on to make ardent fans of the most skeptical.
The Shape of Things Unseen
A compelling insight into how our imagination works, based on the latest scientific research.
People often think of imagination as something used only in creative endeavours. In fact, we use imagination constantly as we reminisce, anticipate, plan, daydream, read, create imagined worlds. The truth is we live in the here and now much less than we tend to think.
Imagination isn’t the exception in our daily lives; it’s our default setting. Yet only now are we beginning to understand exactly how it works. From hallucination to sleepwalking, from REM sleep to delusions, neurologist Adam Zeman brilliantly guides us through the latest scientific studies in the world of the imagination.
He draws on research in neuroscience, the study of human origins and child development to show how the human brain is above all else a creative, imaginative organ – and that we have evolved to share what we imagine. Our brains behave in strikingly similar ways when we observe, remember, imagine or act. Imagine looking at a cube and your eye will trace the contours of the cube as if you were actually seeing it.
Yet it turns out that people differ hugely in their imaginative experience. Some people lack sensory imagery altogether – they would be unable to picture their family if asked to – but still lead fulfilling, even highly creative, lives. From how we visualise to how we understand the minds of others, from the benefits of play to mental disorders, The Shape of Things Unseen dazzles and delights.
It is an essential guide to the latest discoveries about the workings of the human mind.

Ha Oroszország győz - Szcenárió
Megszoktuk, hogy végül minden jól alakul. De mi van, ha most nem így lesz? Carlo Masala különösen drámai módon mutatja be, mi forog kockán.
Egy lehetséges forgatókönyv szerint 2028 márciusában az orosz csapatok elfoglalják az észt kisvárost, Narvát és a Balti-tengeren fekvő Hiiumaa-szigetet. Megkezdődik a balti államok elleni támadás. Az a tény, hogy Európa az ukrajnai háború befejezése után nem fegyverkezett fel újra, most visszaüt. Alkalmazható-e a NATO 5-ös cikkelye? Hogyan dönt a szövetség? Kockáztatják-e a nukleáris háborút?
