Elin Anna Labba skúma osudy severných Sámov, ktorým do cesty vstúpili nové hranice, a narušili ich prirodzené migračné koridory.
– prečo mnohí Sámovia o tejto temnej histórii dlhé roky mlčali a až ich potomkovia sarozhodli rozprávať
Preto v roku 1919 Švédsko a Nórsko uzavreli dohodu o obmedzení migrácie zvierat a ľudí medzi oboma krajinami. Takto vyzerá pozadie jednej z temnejších kapitol moderných severských dejín. S cieľom vykoreniť kočovné zvyky Sámov nariadili švédske úrady v rámci „dislokácie“ premiestnenie chovateľov sobov z ďalekého severu do južnejších oblastí.
Elin Anna Labba zozbierala spomienky, fotografie, listy i úryvky z tradičných piesní – jojkov, aby skúsila vyrozprávať hlboký a osobný príbeh ľudí, ktorí prišli o všetko, no napriek tomu neprestali veriť, že raz znovu uvidia svoj domov.
Kniha Páni nás sem presídlili vychádza v preklade Adriany Gondárovej.
Wild Reverence
Blockbuster bestseller Rebecca Ross returns to the world of international sensation Divine Rivals with her most epic story yet.
Before Iris sat at her typewriter and before Enva sang her song, a young goddess wandered dreams…
Born to the firelit domain of the underworld, Matilda is the youngest goddess of her clan, blessed with humble messenger magic. But in a land where gods kill each other for magic, Matilda must come of age sooner than most. She may be known to carry letters through the realms, but she also carries secrets of her own: one of them deadly, the other a mortal boy who dreams of her, despite the fact they have never met…
Ten years ago, Vincent of Beckett wrote to Matilda on the darkest night of his life - begging the goddess he befriended in dreams for aid. But his prayer went unanswered, forever hardening his heart against the gods. That is until the same goddess comes tumbling through his window, bearing a letter to change both their destinies. For Matilda and Vincent are tangled together by threads of fate and the promise of a future beyond dreams, one that might rewrite the dark, blood-soaked ways of the gods…or end them.

Wings to Fly: Frida Kahlo
'I am not sick. I am broken. But I am happy to be alive as long as I can paint.'
For many she represents triumph over suffering, but to Frida Kahlo, life, body and art were entirely intertwined.
Kahlo – friend, lover, teacher, patient, survivor, revolutionary – endured polio and scoliosis as a child, and then, at the age of 18, survived a catastrophic bus accident. Over the next 19 years she was to undergo over thirty surgeries. Yet her work, her magical, jewel-coloured paintings, her heartfelt, visceral art, continued to flow.
Using new translations from her diary, letters and interviews, Wings to Fly juxtaposes Kahlo’s paintings with her writings, and illuminates links between the personal and universal, the physical and imaginative, the pain and resolve – to truly inspire.
'Feet what do I need them for, if I have wings to fly?'

The Path of Light
Praise for The Path of Peace:'A formidable achievement' Rory Stewart'Thoughtful [and] heartfelt' Observer'Profound [and] compelling' Spectator'A noble endeavour' New StatesmanIn 2021, Anthony Seldon, inspired by a fallen First World War soldier who dreamed of a 'Via Sacra' to commemorate the war dead and stand as a marker for the triumph of peace, set out on a 1,000km walk tracing the historic route of the Western Front. He went on to recount that story in the widely acclaimed The Path of Peace. But there wasn't to be lasting peace, with the continent falling into an even more horrific war two decades later. In The Path of Light, Seldon sets out to walk a new 1,300 km route from the same starting point at Kilometre Zero toAuschwitz, discovering in the towns and villages through which he walks stories of women and men who bravely protected the vulnerable and stood up to evil in the face of unimaginable brutality during the Second World War. As he ruminates on these 'figures of light', whose uplifting stories he encounters along his path, a pattern begins to emerge about how we can draw on their lives to build a better and more peaceful world, never more needed than now, with the ominous and increasing drumbeat of belligerence globally that month by month is the constant backdrop of his walk between 2023 and 2025. It proved a harder book to write than The Path of Peace. But it was a project he knew he had to complete, whatever the cost.
