Andy Warhol a Československo
. Často velmi překvapivé a úplně nové otázky i odpovědi přináší kniha nazvaná právě Andy Warhol a Československo autorů Ruda Prekopa a Michala Cihláře. Kniha reflektující silný vztah Československa k Warholovi si především klade za cíl dohledat i vzt

A Coloring Book - Drawings by Andy Warhol
It was 1953 when, not long after arriving in New York City, a young artist named Andy Warhol had begun to make his way in the world of commercial illustration. As Arthur Edelman, his former employer, relates in his introductory note, "In a hallway of the Empire State Building, outside a shoe manufacturer's office, stood a young man with Jackson Pollock shoes, a rumpled black suit, a portfolio, and a shock of white hair." Over the next decade, Warhol created scores of whimsical advertisements for the Edelmans, including a coloring book that could have only come from the mind of Warhol, created especially for clients' children for Christmas in 1961, and somewhat of a cause celebre when it was published in 1990. Now in a revised edition, A Coloring Book: Drawings by Andy Warhol will amuse and charm a new audience with its delightfully carefree menagerie.

Warhol - The Textiles
The first publication devoted to the textile designs of one of the twentieth century’s greatest artists, showcasing a rarely discussed aspect of the Pop Art superstar’s career.
Andy Warhol (1928–1987), a giant of twentieth century art, is known to most people for his iconic images of soup cans, Coke bottles, and Marilyn Monroe. Before his meteoric rise to fame in the early 1960s as a Pop Art superstar, Warhol was a highly successful commercial artist in New York.
The late Matt Wrbican, former chief archivist of the Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh, once said “there are very few stories left to tell about Warhol, but textiles is one of them”. This is the first book devoted to the commercial textile designs of this leading figure in the history of art. With stunning new photography throughout, including unpublished images of newly discovered textiles, the book sheds new light on a previously undocumented but important aspect of Warhol’s oeuvre.
Featuring over 30 different textiles, from ice cream sundaes to acrobatic clowns, Warhol: The Textiles offers a unique record of the beginnings of one of the twentieth century’s greatest artists.

'Properly analytical ... always entertaining' TIME OUT
'Should tempt both those generally familiar with Andy Warhol and, even more, young people who have trouble imagining how popular art can challenge the status quo' L A TIMES
Painter, filmmaker, photographer, philosopher, all-round celebrity, Andy Warhol is an outstanding cultural icon. He revolutionised art by bringing to it images from popular culture - such as the Campbell's soup can and Marilyn Monroe's face - while his studio, the Factory, where his free-spirited cast of 'superstars' mingled with the rich and famous, became the place of origin for every groundswell shaping American culture.
In many ways he can be seen as the precursor to today's 'celebrity artists' such as Tracey Emin and Damian Hirst. But what of the man behind the white wig and dark glasses? Koestenbaum gives a fascinating, revealing and thought-provoking picture of pop art's greatest icon.

Warhol: A Celebration of Life and Death
Andy Warhol (1928-1987) is one of the seminal artists of the twentieth century. The twin themes of life and death are central to an understanding of his work. In his art he celebrated the richness of modern life, from everyday consumer products to iconic images of celebrities and movie stars. He was equally fascinated by death in all guises: the high profile death of Marilyn Monroe; the political assassination of President Kennedy and its effect on the widow; the gruesome death of car crashes and suicides; and death as a universal symbol in his paintings of skulls. This book, which marks the eightieth anniversary of Andy Warhol's birth and the twentieth anniversary of his death, covers the whole spectrum of his work and includes the early drawings produced when he was a graphic artist; his celebrity portraits of the 1960s onwards; his films and installations; and his most iconic work such as Campbell's Soup Cans, Brillo Boxes and his screenprints of Marilyn Monroe, Liz Taylor and Elvis Presley.

Warhol
Commerce into art. This title deals with a critical observer of American society. Andy Warhol (1928-1987) is recognized today as the most important exponent of the Pop Art movement. He overturned the traditional understanding of art and placed in its stead a concept that retracts the individuality of the artist. Warhol was a critical observer of American society, exposing his compatriots' consumerism in his paintings ("Campbell and Brillo" series), as well as their fascination for sensational journalism. In 1963 Warhol founded his Factory in New York, literally a manufactory of ideas and work, which influenced film in the 1960s, published the influential magazine "Interview" in the late 1970s, and also produced Warhol's own artwork: Warhol conceived the idea, and a worker in his factory carried it out. The work remained (consciously) unsigned - a fact which nevertheless did nothing to diminish Warhol's reputation. He once complained that rich New Yorkers would willingly hang his Electric Chain in their living rooms - as long as its colours co-ordinated with the wallpaper and draperies. About the series: Every book in TASCHEN's "Basic Art Series" features: a detailed chronological summary of the artist's life and work, covering the cultural and historical importance of the artist; approximately 100 color illustrations with explanatory captions; and, a concise biography.
Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat
Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat's complex relationship captivated the art world then and now. At a time when Warhol was already world famous and the elder statesman of New York cool, Basquiat was a downtown talent rising rapidly from the graffiti scene. Together, they forged an electrifying personal and professional partnership.
As a prolific documentarian of his own world, Warhol extensively photographed and wrote of his friendship with Basquiat, all played against the backdrop of 1980s downtown New York City. It reveals not only the emotional depth of their relationship but also its ambiguities, extremities, and complexities.
Produced in collaboration with The Andy Warhol Foundation and Jean-Michel Basquiat's estate, this book chronicles the duo's relationship in hundreds of previously unpublished photographs of Basquiat along with a dynamic cast of characters from Madonna to Grace Jones, Keith Haring to Fela Kuti. The shots are accompanied by entries from the legendary Andy Warhol Diaries, selected collaborative artworks, and extensive ephemera. Touching, intimate, and occasionally sardonic, Warhol on Basquiat is a voyeuristic glimpse into the lives of two of modern art's brightest stars.

Becoming Andy Warhol
Celebrated during his lifetime as much for his personality as for his paintings, Andy Warhol (1928-1987) is the man who invented Pop Art, the notion of 15 minutes of fame, and the idea that an artist could be as illustrious as the work he creates. With a unique, focused look at Warhol's life, this graphic novel biography offers insight into the turning point of Warhol's career and the time leading up to the creation of the Thirteen Most Wanted Men mural for the 1964 World's Fair, when Warhol clashed with urban planner Robert Moses and architect Philip Johnson. In Becoming Andy Warhol, New York Times bestselling writer Nick Bertozzi and artist Pierce Hargan showcase the moment when, by stubborn force of personality and sheer burgeoning talent, Warhol went up against the creative establishment and emerged to become one of the most significant artists of the 20th century.

Andy Warhol. Love, Sex, and Desire. Drawings 1950-1962
Well before Andy Warhol's rise to the pinnacle of Pop Art, he created and exhibited seductive drawings celebrating male beauty. Andy Warhol Love, Sex, & Desire: Drawings 1950-1962 features over three hundred drawings rendered primarily in ink on paper portraying young men, many of them nude, some sexually charged, and occasionally adorned with whimsical black hearts and delightful embellishments. They lounge or preen, proud of or even bored by their beauty, while the artist sketches them, rapt. They rarely engage with their keen observer, and likewise Warhol's focus is on their form, their erotic qualities, and unbridled sexuality. If his subjects are content to revel in their attractiveness, so too is Warhol. His confident hand illustrates a multitude of colorful characters, yet also reveals much about this enigmatic artist.
Warhol was already a booming commercial illustrator when he exhibited studies from this body of work at the Bodley Gallery on New York's Upper East Side in 1956.He mistakenly saw these illustrations as his way of breaking into the New York art scene, underestimating the pervading homophobia of the time. While he never saw through his plan to publish the drawings as a monograph, he did produce more than a thousand elegant, seemingly effortless drawings from life. This volume finally brings his project to fruition by gathering his most striking images, published here for the first time in a comprehensive book and chosen by the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts. Edited and featuring an introduction by the Foundation's Michael Dayton Hermann, and essays by Warhol biographer Blake Gopnik and art critic Drew Zeiba. The inclusion of poems by James Baldwin, Thom Gunn, Harold Norse, Essex Hemphill and Allen Ginsberg create moments of introspection, which expand on the themes and moods present in the drawings.
In style, the drawings evoke the sketches of Jean Cocteau and even Matisse: highly distilled and sure of line, yet loose. The sly voyeurism, meanwhile, is entirely Warhol's own, and even the most risque drawings contain a kind of droll humor-a sense of ironic detachment-that would become a Warhol trademark. His confident hand illustrates a multitude of colorful characters, yet also reveals much about this enigmatic artist.

Lacná kniha Na návšteve u slávneho strýka (-50%)
Otec Jamesa Warholu, drobný obchodník so starým železom, rád vytváral z haraburdia zaujímavé kompozície. So svojimi deťmi chodieval do New Yorku navštíviť svojho brata Andyho.
