Saab Cars 1949 to 2011
More than a dozen years after the last cars rolled off the production lines in Trollhättan, Saab still commands a keen following among car enthusiasts around the world. During the 60 years of its existence, Saab became renowned for the aerodynamic design, technical innovation and sturdy construction of its cars, which famously appealed to individualists and creative thinkers. This handy full-colour guide covers the complete history of Saab?s cars. The story begins with the ?Ursaab? prototype and the original 92, which went into production in 1949 as the company branched out from aircraft manufacture after the war; it continues through to the final second-generation 9-5 models in 2011, launched when the company was struggling to stay afloat.Individual chapters are devoted to each of Saab?s models, including the 93 and 96 saloons, which enjoyed much success in rallying, the 95 station wagon and the striking Sonett sports cars. The SaabO caravan and the Formula Junior racing car that Saab built during this period are also presented. These early models were followed by the larger 99 and the much-loved and highly successful 900 range. The book features detailed specifications for each version of these two models, including the first turbocharged variants, with which Saab has become synonymous. In 1985, the 9000 took the marque further upmarket and into partnership with Fiat, Lancia and Alfa Romeo. The guide continues into the 1990s and 2000s, when General Motors progressively took control of Saab?s automotive division. Its bestsellers during this period were its 9-3 and 9-5 ranges, based on GM platforms. Less well-known, especially in Europe, are its 9-4X and 9-7X all-wheel-drive models, not forgetting the 9-2X, a badge-engineered version of the Subaru Impreza. All these models are also presented. Each chapter provides an introduction to the development and evolution of each model, as well as comprehensive technical information. Production numbers and dates are given, as well as details of limited editions. The book is extensively illustrated in full colour, with many archive photographs from Saab Automobile and the Saab Car Museum showing the cars? interior and exterior design.

Trans-Am Challengers
Trans-Am Challengers: The Story Behind Detroit''s Racing RevolutionIn April 1964, Ford?s Mustang pony car stormed onto the scene, igniting a sales phenomenon that forced Detroit?s other automakers to scramble to create their own competitors. Around the same time, the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) was transforming from a purely amateur organisation into a professional racing powerhouse, introducing prize-money championships.By 1966, the SCCA launched two landmark series: the Canadian-American Challenge Cup (Can-Am) and the Trans-American Sedan Championship (Trans-Am). While Can-Am focused on unlimited FIA Group 7 sports cars, Trans-Am catered to FIA Group 2 touring cars, with classes divided by engine sizes: up to 2000cc and 2001-5000cc. The Over-2000cc class was crafted specifically with the Mustang in mind, ensuring Ford?s interest and leveraging the growing pony car wars.Chevrolet answered Ford?s Mustang with the launch of the Camaro in September 1966, sparking fierce competition on the track and in showrooms. Soon, Mercury, Pontiac, Dodge, Plymouth, and AMC joined the fray, turning the Trans-Am series into a battleground for Detroit?s ?Big Four?. Manufacturers saw Trans-Am success as a path to dominance, investing heavily in developing race-ready cars and unleashing low-production homologation specials like the Mustang Boss 302, Camaro Z28, Pontiac Firebird Trans-Am, AMC Javelin Mark Donohue Edition, Dodge Challenger T/A, and Plymouth ?Cuda AAR?now some of the rarest and most valuable classic American cars.Beyond the famous Mustang and Camaro rivalry, this book uncovers the untold stories of their challengers and the relentless pursuit of sales glory. Mercury nearly claimed the championship in 1967, and AMC triumphed in 1971 and 1972 with Penske Racing. The fierce competition left an indelible mark on American motorsport history.A chapter also explores lesser-known contenders from outside the U.S., such as Ford Falcon Sprints in the British Saloon Car Championship and the powerful Holden Monaros and Ford Falcons that dominated Australian circuits. This is more than just a tale of Mustang versus Camaro?it?s the story of an era when Detroit?s finest fought to conquer the track and the showroom floor, leaving a legacy of engineering brilliance and motorsport passion.

Hormone Goddess
Hormone Goddess is the definitive guide to understanding ? and supporting ? the female hormone cycle. Written by Samantha Hadadi ? @the_hormone_goddess on Instagram ? it explores the four stages of the female hormone cycle, and shares how to embrace each stage and work with, not against, the hormonal changes that occur naturally, celebrating it for the power it has in connecting women to, and rooting them in, the natural world. The Hormone Goddess wants to help women to feel empowered and enchanted by this connection to the rhythm of their bodies, and not ashamed, frightened, or even just annoyed by it.The messaging around periods and female hormones can often be quite negative ? they are something to be ?managed?, denied or hidden, making this natural process seem like another burden women have to bear. While a lot of work has been done in the last few years to destigmatize periods, many women still have huge gaps in their knowledge of how their own bodies work. Hormone Goddess fills those gaps.In Hormone Goddess the negative narrative is swept away as the magic of the menstrual cycle, and how understanding and working with it can make life easier, takes centre stage. Following the hormone cycle through a month, the power of each stage is covered, as well as tips and recipes for self care in that stage. Incredibly supportive, the magic of the human body is explored in all its majesty, as the ways we can embrace the female hormone cycle are celebrated.

Folklore of the Sea
Filled with the myths and legends of the deep, this new illustrated edition of the cult classic folklore collection reveals the stories that swirled on the open seas, and the customs that remain part of maritime life. The vivid, often eerie, superstitions, tales and rituals of the sea were the sailors ?response to danger ? immediate and uncontrolled. As a sailing-ship beat for weeks across the Southern Ocean, domain of the albatross, meeting no one in the lonely wastes, her crew felt an urgent need to appease the sea-gods. Even today, with engines, iron or fibreglass hulls, and less credulous seamen, much traditional sea lore has survived, especially in the fishing fleets.Stories of phantom ships and crews (from the Flying Dutchman onwards), of the perennial sea-serpent, of lonely lighthouses; rituals such as the crossing-the-line ceremonies or blessing the fishing fleet; old weather lore, sailors? chanties and sea language, taboos and talismans, precautions taken at keel-laying or launching ? all these are recorded and interpreted here. For everyone who enjoys strange stories and the chilly fascination of the unconquered sea, or thrills to watch man pitting himself against merciless elements, this book is a delight and a mine of information. Margaret Baker is unrivalled at collecting traditions of the past and showing the part they have played for generations of men in their daily lives. With brand new illustrations by Philip Harris.
