Petr Pokorný látku zcela nově. Strukturou zůstává sice kniha blízká žánru literárních úvodů, přesahuje je však důsledným pojednáním teologie jednotlivých spisů a vrstev Nového zákona a přináší též náčrt celkové koncepce novozákonního kánonu.
