Roald Dahl

V roku 1953 sa v New Yorku oženil s herečkou Patriciou Nealovou, boli svoji 30 rokov a mali päť detí: Oliviu (zomrela v siedmich rokoch), Tessu, Thea, Opheliu a Lucy.

Zomrel 23. novembra v roku 1990 na leukémiu vo svojom dome v Great Missendene, Buckinghamshire. Jeho vdova pokračovala v jeho neúnavnej charitatívnej činnosti prostredníctvom nadácie nesúcej jeho meno.

Switch Bitch

Topping and tailing this collection are "The Visitor and "Bitch", stories featuring Dahl's notorious hedonist Oswald Hendryks Cornelius (or plain old Uncle Oswald) whose exploits are frequently as extraordinary as they are scandalous. In the middle, meanwhile, are "The Great Switcheroo" and "The Last Act", two stories exploring a darker side of desire and pleasure. In the black comedies of "Switch Bitch", Roald Dahl brilliantly captures the ins and outs, highs and lows of sex. Boy

An autobiography is a book a person writes about his own life and it is usually full of all sorts of boring details. This is not an autobiography. I would never write a history of myself. On the other hand, throughout my young days at school and just afterwards a number of things happened to me that I have never forgotten...' "Boy" is a funny, insightful and at times grotesque glimpse into the early life of Roald Dahl, one of the world's favourite authors. We discover his experiences of the Engl ish public school system, the idyllic paradise of summer holidays in Norway, the pleasures (and pains) of the sweetshop, and how it is that he avoided being a Boazer. This is the unadulterated childhood - sad and funny, macabre and delightful - that inspired Britain's favourite storyteller and also speaks of an age which vanished with the coming of the Second World War.
