Hard Times

As their father watches their plight, he realises that his own principles may have led to their downfall.

Nehéz idők
Dickens utolsó nagy alkotói korszakában, 1854-ben jelentette meg a Nehéz idok-et. Részben hagyományos dickensi mu ez: társadalomjobbító harcának eredményes, tényleges változásokat hozó állomásai, a dologház, az adósok börtöne, a jogszolgáltatás, a kíméletlen iskolarendszer leleplezése közül most az ipari forradalom utáni munkássors sivárságának, kilátástalanságának bemutatása került sorra. A Pickwick Klub II. kötet
A Pickwick Klub Charles Dickens első regénye. A történet eredetileg a grafikus Robert Seymour ötlete volt, aminek megírásához Dickens segítségét kérte. Dickens azután kezdett a témával foglalkozni miután Seymour öngyilkosságot követett el.
