Az olvasó, ha kezébe veszi Fitzgerald novelláit, rögtön rájön, mit is akar mondani velük. Még ha vannak is hibái, gyengéi az egyes történeteknek, de mindegyik jó, sõt nagyszerû, és a legtöbb a mûfaját tekintve is remekmû. Élvezetes olvasmány már csak azért is, mert az író tükröt tart elénk, emberek elé, s ebben a tükörben azt látjuk, hogy vannak emberi hibáink, gyengeségeink, de az ember mégis csak jó, vagy igyekszik az lenni, mert hát? végül is ember.
