Mere Anarchy
'I am greatly relieved that the universe is finally explainable. I was beginning to think it was me.' Thus begins 'Strung Out', Woody Allen's hilarious application of the laws of the universe to daily life. Mere Anarchy", Woody Allen's first new collection in over 25 years, features eighteen witty, wild and intelligent comic pieces - eight of which have never been in print before. Surreal, absurd, rich in verbal play, bitingly satirical and just plan daft in the mode we have grown to love from his finest films, this flight-of-fancy collection includes tales of a body double who, mistaken for the film's star, is kidnapped by outlaws; a pretentious novelist forced to work on the novelisation of a Three Stooges film; a nanny secretly writing an expose of her Manhattan employers; crooks selling bespoke prayers on eBay; and how to react when you're asked to finance a Broadway play about the invention and manufacture of the adjustable showerhead."

S most először könyvben is.

Fans and friends of the Megatokyo web comic have come to love the characters and their offbeat adventures. Touch This
In today's high-tech, virtual world, where things exist, but then again they don't, people are drawn irresistibly to "touch-friendly" designs. It's little wonder that graphic design using unusual materials that call out to be touched get noticed and build image like no others. Design on nontraditional materials attracts both designers and consumers. The subject fascinates consumers because they recognize that unique materials can be difficult to engineer and incorporate, and thus tactile design nearly always becomes coveted and collectible. Moreover, the designer who can get a consumer to interact with a product, whether it's a brochure or a package, increases the chance of making a memorable connection and, even better yet, a sale. This book features intriguing projects that incorporate a gamut of "you can't print on that" materials, including pleated, Issey Miyake type forms and razor-thin metal business cards, X-ray film, heat-sensitive inks, ceramic tiles, and carpet samples. In short, there are design solutions in this book that use any and everything, except plain paper.

All American Ads 1900-1919
A far cry from the aggressive ads we’ve become used to, American print advertisements from the first two decades of the 20th century were almost shockingly pleasant. Intricately designed and beautifully illustrated, often in the art nouveau style popular at the time, four-color, full-page magazine advertisements were welcome respites from the bland, text-filled pages among which they appeared. Sales pitches were earnest and friendly&894 beer, for example, was billed as “The Evening Glass of Cheer” and toothpaste was described as “Delicious Ribbon Dental Cream”—perhaps not the catchiest slogans, but they were on to something. The American consumerist boom of the 20th century was just beginning and advertising was getting its sea legs. From motorcars to hair tonics to steamship cruises to Coca-Cola (“After the theatre drink a glass… it relieves fatigue”), America was peddling its wares in style and setting an example of how to advertise in the modern age. This exhaustive compendium of ads from the period—many of which haven’t been seen for over eight decades—is a fascinating reminder of surprisingly simpler times and a rediscovery of a forgotten age in advertising history.

Anybody Can Do Anything
You know how sometimes friendship blossoms in the Þrst few moments of meeting? “Something clicked,” we say. Well, that’s what discovering Betty MacDonald was like for me: I happened to read a couple of pages of one of her books and — click — knew right away that here was a vivacious writer whose friendly, funny, and Þery company I was really going to enjoy. Although MacDonald’s Þrst and most popular book, The Egg and I, has remained in print since its original publication, her three other volumes have been unavailable for decades. The Plague and I recounts MacDonald’s experiences in a Seattle sanitarium, where the author spent almost a year (1938-39) battling tuberculosis. The White Plague was no laughing matter, but MacDonald nonetheless makes a sprightly tale of her brush with something deadly. Anybody Can Do Anything is a high-spirited, hilarious celebration of how “the warmth and loyalty and laughter of a big family” brightened their weathering of The Great Depression. In Onions in the Stew, MacDonald is in unbuttonedly frolicsome form as she describes how, with husband and daughters, she set to work making a life on a rough-and-tumble island in Puget Sound, a ferry-ride from Seattle.

Záveračná časť trilógie o dojemnom priateľstve mladučkého faraóna a jeho pisára, ktorý svojou múdrosťou a šikovnosťou ochránil svojho priateľa a vládcu.V paláci Amenofida III. Vládne veľká radosť. Práve sa narodil malý Thutmose, následník a dedičný
princ.
Zapojí všetky čary a mágie, využíva ch
amtivosť a závisť nečestných ľudí, len aby o pisárovi začali všetci pochybovať.
a neskrýva podlý zločinec.

Until the advent of digital photography at the end of the twentieth century, all of these methods required three elements: light-sensitive materials that behave predictably in response to light, chemicals that control and fix the action of light to create an image, and a support upon which the image rests. Photographers and others have continually explored and refined these basic requirements in their quest to expand the artistic and technological possibilities of photography. This book describes in a clear, accessible manner the main photographic and photomechanical processes (some still in practice) from the origins of the medium up to the time when the use of chemicals and a darkened room in which to process photographs was gradually superseded by the advent of digital photography. This elegant guide will prove invaluable to students, photographers, museum visitors, collectors, and anyone interested in the rich and fascinating history of photography. The book includes work by EugeĚ€ne Atget, Robert Frank, Laura Gilpin, AndreĚ KerteĚsz, Helen Levitt, Robert Mapplethorpe, Eadweard Muybridge, Edward Steichen, Alfred Stieglitz, William Henry Fox Talbot, Andy Warhol, Edward Weston. 84 color photographs and illustrations

Revolution On Paper
Between 1910 and 1920, Mexico was convulsed by socialist revolution, from which emerged a strong left-wing government that laid great stress on art as a vehicle for promoting revolutionary values. This led to a pioneering programme to cover the walls of public buildings with vast murals and, later, to setting up print workshops to produce works for mass distribution and education. This book is published to accompany the first ever exhibition on this period to be held in Europe, on view at the British Museum from 27 October 28 February 2010. It will feature approximately 130 prints by over 40 artists, including the three great men of Mexican art of the period: Diego Rivera, Jose Clemente Orozco and David Alfaro Siqueiros. In this title, a fascinating range of material includes not only single-sheet artists prints but also large posters with designs in woodcut or lithography, as well as illustrated books on many different themes. Also included are earlier works by the popular engraver Jose Guadalupe Posada, adopted by the revolutionaries as the archetypal printmaker working for the people, and whose macabre dances of skeletons have always fascinated Europeans. Essays by Alison McClean and Dawn Ades will set Mexican printmaking in its artistic and political context. The book will also contain concise biographies of all the artists featured.
