Nezapomeňte na mne / Not Forget about Me
Publikace přibližuje pomocí dobových dokumentů a fotografií vykonstruovaný politický proces s JUDr. Miladou Horákovou a dalšími osobnostmi, který se na pokyn vedení Komunistické strany Československa uskutečnil na jaře 1950. Na jeho přípravě se podíleli sovětští poradci vyslaní do Československa na podzim 1949. Doprovázela ho masivní dehonestační a propagandistická kampaň. Katalog vychází ze stejnojmenné výstavy, která byla v červnu 2020 připravena při příležitosti sedmdesátého výročí těchto tragických událostí.
The publication presents, with the help of contemporary documents and photographs, the fabricated political trial with JUDr. Milada Horáková and other co-defendants, which took place in the spring of 1950 upon the instructions of the leadership of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia. In the preparation of this political show-trial, Soviet advisers sent to Czechoslovakia in the autumn of 1949 took active part. The trial was accompanied by a massive defamatory and propaganda campaign. The publication is based on the eponymous exhibition organised in 2020 to commemorate the seventieth anniversary of these tragic events.

You Are Here 2
When it comes to designing effective signages that are also appealing to the eye, a delicate balance needs to be struck. On one hand, a wayfinding system has to avoid confusion and reduce stress for visitors orienting themselves within complex environments such as a healthcare facility. On the other hand, as a big part of many a visual identity design project, it can help a brand stand out by presenting distinct pops of personality.
A follow-up to the first edition that was published in 2013, 'You Are Here 2' showcases a new curation of the best signages and wayfinding systems that enhance spaces and settings around the world today. Whether they serve to simply guide people from point A to point B or elicit curiosity and delight in exploration, these projects reflect the work of designers who are adept at merging form and functionality to demonstrate creative thinking and empathy.

Praise for History is All You Left Me
"History Is All You Left Me overflows with tenderness and heartache. Even when its hero is screwing up royally, maybe especially then, Silvera's humanity and compassion carve out a space where it's not the falling that's important, it's how you pick yourself back up. There isn't a teenager alive who won't find their heart described perfectly on these pages." Patrick Ness
"Adam Silvera is a master at capturing the infinite small heartbreaks of love and loss and grief. History Is All You Left Me is a beautiful meditation on what it means to survive devastating loss. This book will make you cry, think, and then cry some more." Nicola Yoon
Fix the System, Not the Women
10 years after founding the Everyday Sexism Project, feminist writer and activist Laura Bates connects the dots between the 'isolated incidents' of violence against women and the institutional and systemic misogyny that is so deeply ingrained in our society. Every three days in the UK, women are murdered by their current or former partners. 137 women worldwide are killed by a family member every day. These are not isolated incidents. They are part of a devastatingly clear pattern. But it is a pattern we are so used to seeing that we simply don't notice it anymore. These incidents are the product of a society in which misogyny is so deeply ingrained that it has simply become part of our daily lives. This book will lay these patterns bare for everyone to see. Joining the dots from an epidemic of school sexual violence to the failings of the police and CPS, institutional and systemic misogyny, political apathy and media distortion, this will be an examination of how the entire system lets women and girls down, again and again. In Isolated Incidents, Laura puts forward her own bold and ambitious solution for combating misogyny and violence against women - one that includes structural change and tackles institutionalised prejudice. Enough is enough.
Too often, we blame women. For walking home alone at night. For not demanding a seat at the table. For not overcoming the odds that are stacked against them.
This distracts us from the real problem: the failings and biases of a society that was not built for women. In this explosive book, feminist writer and activist Laura Bates exposes the systemic prejudice at the heart of five of our key institutions.
Education
Politics
Media
Policing
Criminal justice
Combining stories with shocking evidence, Fix the System, Not the Women is a blazing examination of sexual injustice and a rallying cry for reform.

I was not Born for Quiet
Thanks to Janko Kráľ, as John Minahane has written, the Váh is Slovakia’s most mystical river. Again and again the poet returns to his community via that flagship poem of Slovak romanticism, The Enchanted Maiden in the Váh and Odd Johnny. Characteristic in Kráľ’s poetry is his focus on the inward side of events and stories, turned inside out, since one has to turn one’s clothing inside out/ and leap in the middle of the Váh. By this means, metaphysical space is opened. There the spirit is so blended together with reality that it becomes possible to break the spell on the maiden (motherland) in the river Lethe, which is life’s inverted clepsydra. Time always freshly poses the question, which young man wants to give body to his thought. And what unwinds from that is not only a defiant faith in the mission of poetry, but also Janko Kráľ’s courage to stand up for the language and national rights of Slovaks in 1848. To give the time a face where our identity is mirrored.
To this day we do not know exactly how Janko Kráľ looked in reality. Using the surviving descriptions of Kráľ’s appearance, he therefore created a metaphysical portrait with the digital tool Metahuman Creator, which is designed for creating figures for video games. Subsequently he placed this virtual figure in a contemporary context, in the form of manipulated photographs from the mass media.

The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck
In this generation-defining self-help guide, a superstar blogger cuts through the crap to show us how to stop trying to be "positive" all the time so that we can truly become better, happier people.
For decades, we?ve been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F**k positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let?s be honest, shit is f**ked and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Mason doesn?t sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is?a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F**k is his antidote to the coddling, let?s-all-feel-good mindset that has infected American society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.
Manson makes the argument, backed both by academic research and well-timed poop jokes, that improving our lives hinges not on our ability to turn lemons into lemonade, but on learning to stomach lemons better. Human beings are flawed and limited?"not everybody can be extraordinary, there are winners and losers in society, and some of it is not fair or your fault." Manson advises us to get to know our limitations and accept them. Once we embrace our fears, faults, and uncertainties, once we stop running and avoiding and start confronting painful truths, we can begin to find the courage, perseverance, honesty, responsibility, curiosity, and forgiveness we seek.
There are only so many things we can give a f**k about so we need to figure out which ones really matter, Manson makes clear. While money is nice, caring about what you do with your life is better, because true wealth is about experience. A much-needed grab-you-by-the-shoulders-and-look-you-in-the-eye moment of real-talk, filled with entertaining stories and profane, ruthless humor, The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F**k is a refreshing slap for a generation to help them lead contented, grounded lives.
Lacná kniha God of Small Things (-50%)
Set in Kerala in the 1960s, The God of Small Things is about two children, Estha and Rahel, and the shocking consequences of a pivotal event in their young lives, the accidental death-by-drowning of a visiting English cousin. In magical and poetic language, the novel paints a vivid picture of life in a small rural Indian town, the thoughts and feelings of the two small children, and the complexity and hypocrisy of the adults in their world. It is also a poignant lesson in the destructive power of the caste system and moral and political bigotry in general.

Are You There, God? It's Me, Margaret
Meet Margaret. She's going through all the same things most teenage girls have to face; fitting in, friendship and first bras.
Life isn't easy for Margaret. She's moved away from her childhood home, she's starting a new school, finding new friends – and she's convinced she's not normal.
For a start she hasn't got a clue whether she wants to be Jewish like her father or Christian like her mother. Everyone else seems really sure of who they are.
And, worst of all, she's a 'late developer'. She just knows that all her friends are going to need a bra before she does. It's too embarrassing to talk to her parents about these things.
So she talks to God instead – and waits for an answer...
How Emotions Are Made
'Fascinating . . . a thought-provoking journey into emotion science' The Wall Street Journal
When you feel anxious, angry, happy, or surprised, what's really going on inside of you?
Many scientists believe that emotions come from a specific part of the brain, triggered by the world around us. The thrill of seeing an old friend, the fear of losing someone we love - each of these sensations seems to arise automatically and uncontrollably from within us, finding expression on our faces and in our behaviour, carrying us away with the experience.
This understanding of emotion has been around since Plato. But what if it is wrong? In How Emotions Are Made, pioneering psychologist and neuroscientist Lisa Feldman Barrett draws on the latest scientific evidence to reveal that our common-sense ideas about emotions are dramatically, even dangerously, out of date - and that we have been paying the price. Emotions aren't universally pre-programmed in our brains and bodies; rather they are psychological experiences that each of us constructs based on our unique personal history, physiology and environment.
This new view of emotions has serious implications: when judges issue lesser sentences for crimes of passion, when police officers fire at threatening suspects, or when doctors choose between one diagnosis and another, they're all, in some way, relying on the ancient assumption that emotions are hardwired into our brains and bodies. Revising that conception of emotion isn't just good science, Barrett shows; it's vital to our well-being and the health of society itself.
