Herbarium Amoris Floral Romance
The beauty of plants and their sexuality
The notion of plant sexuality was initiated by Swedish botanist and physician Carl Linnaeus (1707–1778). Working with his collection of over 20,000 specimens, Linnaeus grouped flowers and plants in a Calendarium Florae, and systematically classified plant species by the number and arrangement of their reproductive parts, drawing direct parallels with human sexual organs. Highly controversial at the time, the assertion that a plant’s stamens and pistils mirror human genitalia resulted in a 'sexual revolution' in plant taxonomy.
Swedish photographer Edvard Koinberg creates a modern visual counterpart to Linnaeus’s work, approaching the subject with equal passion and dedication. Having cultivated several hundred plants in his country house, Koinberg photographs each delicate bloom in his studio under perfect lighting conditions, depicting the life cycle of various flora as they bud, flourish and wane, resulting in a modern Calendarium Florae, a visual calendar that charts the year through flowers.
In Herbarium Amoris, Koinberg captures the lyricism and refulgent eroticism of the floral word in vivid close-ups, shot against dark backgrounds, the dew glittering on outspread petals, the most delicate of vegetal forms infused with unbridled life force.

Dušan Kállay - Magical World
Expressed in prints, paintings and drawings, Kállay’s metaphors of our fate assume the viewer’s fresh powers of unrestrained imagination. His entire work is inspired especially by the eternal human desire for knowledge and control over the world, encouraging man to fly, to discover the laws of nature, to penetrate the essence of insect life and birds’ nests, and based on the knowledge of these laws to project cathedrals and spires touching the heavens.
Birds of the world
Building on more than twenty years' experience travelling and photographing in some of the world's remotest places, Gilles Martin offers in his new book a magnificent photographic collection of some of the most charismatic birds on the globe. Through this book, the reader is invited to plunge into the incredibly rich universe of our feathered friends. Here one can admire the capacity of emperor penguins for survival, applaud the artistic talents of Oceanic birds of paradise, learn how to identify a variable buzzard or distinguish a tree pipit from a meadow pipit, and much more. With nearly ten thousand species scattered throughout five continents, bird societies swarm with diversity. We have long been fascinated by birds' ability to fly, but they possess a multitude of other faculties of which many people are unaware. Birds of the World is structured around twelve major themes that enable readers to observe birds' evolution, migration, survival, and perception of the world. Myriam Baran-Marescot's text provides all the information and advice required for observing, identifying, and protecting birds. The result is a thrilling and informative journey into the vast avian world.

Decade
A successor to Phaidon's award-winning "Century: One Hundred Years of Human Progress, Suffering, Regression and Hope" (1999), "Decade" provides a comprehensive visual overview of the last 10 years in world history. Adhering to the same standards of historical accuracy and scholarship as its predecessor, this book offers a sensitive anthology of 10 years in photography that will appeal to readers of all ages and interests. "Decade" presents 500 engaging photographic images, both iconic and idiosyncratic, selected by acclaimed photo editor Eamonn McCabe and arranged in chronological order to tell the story of the first decade in our new millennium. The shorter historical span of this book, compared to "Century", allows this sequence to explore more deeply developments in art, architecture, sport and technology, alongside key moments in international political affairs, so that the reader encounters surprising moments from our history alongside those familiar from coverage in the mass media. Global in scope, these photographs tackle subjects ranging from the World Trade Center attacks of '9/11' to the AIDS epidemic in Africa, from the first tests of the Hadron Collider at CERN, Geneva, to the death of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. Award-winning documentary photography sits alongside the new 'citizen journalism', which has seen ordinary bystanders capture historic events equipped with nothing more sophisticated than a mobile phone camera. Each image is accompanied by both a short descriptive and an extended, historical caption, to provide a wider context within which to understand these often beautiful, always surprising, photographs. 15 historical and thematic essays are also included, exploring the events, trends and social phenomena that have characterized the decade. Engaging with debates in photography, while providing a visual record of world events both regional and international, this book provides an extraordinary insight into our recent history - dramatic, nostalgic, intimate and educational by turns.

Sebastiao Salgado, Africa
Sebastião Salgado is one the most respected photojournalists working today, his reputation forged by decades of dedication and powerful black-and-white images of distressed people taken in places where most wouldn’t dare to go. Although he has photographed around the globe, his work most heavily concentrates on Africa, where he has shot more than 40 reportage works over a period of 30 years. From the Dinka tribes in Sudan and the Himba in Namibia to gorillas and volcanoes in the lakes region to displaced peoples throughout the continent, Salgado shows us all facets of African life today. He knows exactly how to grab the essence of a moment and his images artfully teach us the disastrous effects of war, poverty, disease, and hostile climatic conditions. This stunning book brings together Salgado's photos in three parts: the first concentrates on the southern part of the continent (Mozambique, Malawi, Angola, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Namibia), the second on the Great Lakes region (Congo, Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya), and the third on the Sub-Saharan region (Burkina Faso, Mali, Sudan, Somalia, Chad, Mauritania, Senegal, Ethiopia). Texts are provided by renowned Mozambique novelist Mia Couto, who describes how today's Africa reflects the effects of colonization as well as the consequences of economic, social, and environmental crises.

Rose C'Est Paris
Ceci n'est pas un livre, ceci n'est pas un film...This title includes urrealist visions, confused identities, obsession, fetish and seething desire. Bettina Rheims and Serge Bramly's Rose, c'est Paris is both a photographic monograph and a feature-length film on DVD. This extraordinary work of art, in two different but interlocking and complimentary formats, defies easy categorization. For in this multi-layered opus of poetic symbolism, photographer Bettina Rheims and writer Serge Bramly evoke the City of Light in a completely novel way: this is a Paris of surrealist visions, confused identities, artistic phantoms, unseen manipulation, obsession, fetish, and seething desire. Equal parts erotica, fashion shoot, art monograph, metaphysical mystery, social and cultural archaeology of the French capital, and neo-noir arthouse film - Rose, c'est Paris is the steamy tale of twin sisters, known only as B and Rose, and a third principal - the city itself. An abduction leads to a detective story that unfolds in the streets, cafes, cabarets, museums, abandoned factories, and grand hotels of Paris. What happened to the missing sister? Was there a plot? Was she really kidnapped? Is she alive or dead? Is it in fact a case of mistaken identity? Rheims and Bramly create a series of extraordinary tableaux suggesting all these possibilities and many more, featuring a host of celebrity figures including Naomi Campbell, Michelle Yeoh, Monica Bellucci, Charlotte Rampling, Valerie Lemercier, Ines Sastre, Anna Mouglalis, Audrey Marnay, Anthony Delon, Rona Hartner, Jean-Pierre Kalfon, Azzedine Alaia, Louise Bourgoin, and Helena Noguerra.

Henri Cartier-Bresson The modern century
Henri Cartier-Bresson is one of the most influential and beloved figures in the history of photography. His early work helped define the creative potential of modern photography, and his unerring ability to capture life on the run made his work synonymous with ‘the decisive moment’ – the title of his first major book.
Released to accompany an exhibition at The Museum of Modern Art, Henri Cartier-Bresson: The Modern Century is the first major publication to make full use of the extensive holdings of the Fondation Henri Cartier-Bresson in Paris – including thousands of prints and a vast resource of documents relating to the photographer’s life and work.
The heart of the book surveys Cartier-Bresson’s career through 300 photographs while a wide-ranging essay by Peter Galassi, Chief Curator of Photography at the Museum of Modern Art, offers an entirely new understanding of Cartier-Bresson’s extraordinary career and its overlapping contexts of journalism and art.
The extensive supporting material – featuring detailed chronologies of the photographer’s professional travels and his picture stories as they appeared in magazines – will revolutionize the study of Cartier-Bresson’s work.
The final section of the book – which runs to more than eighty pages of often newly discovered and systematically ordered reference material based on the hitherto unexplored archive of the Fondation Henri Cartier-Bresson in Paris – is almost a publication in itself.
