Lacná kniha Salinger (-90%)
"J. D. Salinger tíz évig írta, majd haláláig keserülte a Rozsban a fogó-t. A könyv megjelenése előtt második világháborús veterán volt, poszttraumásstressz szindrómával; a háború után mást se keresett, mint sebzett pszichéjének gyógyírját. A "gimis s
rác"-ról szóló regény hatalmas sikere mítoszt szült: Salinger, akárcsak Holden, érzékeny mimóza, túl jó erre a világra. Ezek után egész életében sikertelenül békítgette önnön két szögesen ellentétes verzióját: a mítoszt és a valóságot.
A Rozsban a f
ogó-ból több mint 65 millió példány fogyott, és továbbra is évente több mint félmillió fogy; nemzedékek számára meghatározó mű, maradandó amerikai kamasztotem. Salinger karcsú életművének - négy rövid könyvének - kulturális súlya, hordereje szinte pá
ratlan a modern irodalomban.
utolsó ötvenöt évet visszavonultságban töltötte; nagy utazásokat tett, sok viszonya, életre szóló barátsága szövődött, falta a tömegkultúrát, sűrűn példázta sok tekintetben mindazt, amit írásaiban bírált.
tős személyiség személyes vallomásával arról, hogyan hatott életükre, munkájukra, nagy általánosságban a kultúrára.
Az általunk most először közreadott anyag - több mint száz fénykép, jegyzőkönyvek, naplók, levelek, emlékiratok, bírósági feljegyzése
k, tanúvallomások, titkosság alól nemrégiben feloldott katonai iratok szemelvényei - reményeink szerint sok ténybeli pontosítást és jelentős felfedezéseket nyújthat. Kiemelten világítunk rá az életút utolsó ötvenöt évére, arra a korszakra, amely Salinger korábbi életrajzírói számára nagy részt homályban maradt." (a Szerzők)

The Lost Man
Whatever had been going through Cameron's mind when he was alive, he didn't look peaceful in death.
Two brothers meet at the remote border of their vast cattle properties under the unrelenting sun of the outback. In an isolated part of Australia, they are each other's nearest neighbour, their homes hours apart.
They are at the stockman's grave, a landmark so old that no one can remember who is buried there. But today, the scant shadow it casts was the last hope for their middle brother, Cameron. The Bright family's quiet existence is thrown into grief and anguish.
Something had been troubling Cameron. Did he choose to walk to his death? Because if he didn't, the isolation of the outback leaves few suspects...

Everything Under
'Daisy Johnson is a new goddamn swaggering monster of fiction.' Lauren Groff
Words are important to Gretel, always have been. As a child, she lived on a canal boat with her mother, and together they invented a language that was just their own. She hasn't seen her mother since the age of sixteen, though - almost a lifetime ago - and those memories have faded. Now Gretel works as a lexicographer, updating dictionary entries, which suits her solitary nature.
A phone call from the hospital interrupts Gretel's isolation and throws up questions from long ago. She begins to remember the private vocabulary of her childhood. She remembers other things, too: the wild years spent on the river; the strange, lonely boy who came to stay on the boat one winter; and the creature in the water - a canal thief? - swimming upstream, getting ever closer. In the end there will be nothing for Gretel to do but go back.
Daisy Johnson's debut novel turns classical myth on its head and takes readers to a modern-day England unfamiliar to most. As daring as it is moving, Everything Under is a story of family and identity, of fate, language, love and belonging that leaves you unsettled and unstrung.

Art Of Luis Garcia
Luis Garcia was one of the most talented artists of the legendary Spanish Invasion which transformed Warren comics in the 1970s, creating artwork that was both stunningly attractive and astonishingly realistic. Garcia drew for all the Warren titles but was particularly associated with Vampirella magazine where his innovative artwork and gift for drawing beautiful women was a highlight for several years.
But his career encompassed far more than just horror comics; starting off as an artist of seductive romance strips, he went on to find fame in France drawing for Pilote magazine, was a pioneer of autobiographical and political comics, created some of the earliest and most accomplished graphic novels and then changed careers completely to become a world class painter.
For the first time anywhere in the world The Art of Luis Garcia brings together each phase of his career to create the first comprehensive retrospective of his amazing artwork. Each chapter details his work and life with historical analysis from artist and author David Roach (The Art of Vampirella, Masters of Spanish Comic Art), together with commentary and reminiscences from Luis Garcia himself. It is a story that brings together his life as a child prodigy in S.I.’s mythical Barcelona comic studios and working as a model for romantic fotonovela’s, meeting Salvador Dali and John Lennon, moving from swinging London to Hippy Communes, hanging out at Studio 54 and teaching the techniques of Old master Painters like Velazquez.
The book is illustrated throughout with some of Garcia’s finest artwork, almost entirely shot from the original pages, and includes several complete stories, some translated into English for the first time. It is a fitting tribute to one of the most creative, ground-breaking artists in comics, and beyond.

Peter Pan
Peter Pan, the boy who refused to grow up, is one of the immortals of children's literature. J. M. Barrie first created Peter Pan as a baby, living in secret with the birds and fairies in the middle of London, but as the children for whom he invented the stories grew older, so too did Peter, reappearing in Neverland, where he was aided in his epic battles with Red Indians and pirates by the motherly and resourceful Wendy Darling. F. D. Bedford's wonderful illustrations have been beautifully coloured by Barbara Frith, one of Britain's leading colourists.
