Discourse on the Method
The Discourse on the Method is a philosophical and mathematical treatise published by René Descartes in 1637. Its full name is Discourse on the Method of Rightly Conducting the Reason, and Searching for Truth in the Sciences (French title: Discours de la méthode pour bien conduire sa raison, et chercher la verité dans les sciences). The Discourse on Method is best known as the source of the famous quotation "Je pense, donc je suis" ("I think, therefore I am"), which occurs in Part IV of the work. (The similar statement in Latin, Cogito ergo sum, is found in §7 of Principles of Philosophy.) In addition, in one of its appendices, La Géométrie, is contained Descartes' first introduction of the Cartesian coordinate system. The Discourse on the Method is one of the most influential works in the history of modern science. It is a method which gives a solid platform from which all modern natural sciences could evolve. In this work, Descartes tackles the problem of skepticism which had been revived from the ancients such as Sextus Empiricus by authors such as Al-Ghazali and Michel de Montaigne. Descartes modified it to account for a truth that he found to be incontrovertible. Descartes started his line of reasoning by doubting everything, so as to assess the world from a fresh perspective, clear of any preconceived notions. The book was originally published in Leiden in French, together with his works "Dioptrique, Météores et Géométrie". Later, it was translated into Latin and published in 1656 in Amsterdam.Together with Meditations on First Philosophy (Meditationes de Prima Philosophia), Principles of Philosophy (Principia philosophiae) and Rules for the Direction of the Mind (Regulae ad directionem ingenii), it forms the base of the Epistemology known as Cartesianism.

On Connection
This is a book about connection. About how immersing ourselves in creativity can help us cultivate greater self-awareness and bring us closer to each other.
Drawing on two decades of experience as a writer and performer, Kae Tempest champions the role of creativity - in whatever form we choose to practice it - as an act of love, helping us establish a deeper relationship to our true selves, and to others and the world, we live in.
Honest, hopeful, and written with piercing clarity, On Connection is an inspiring personal meditation that will transform the way you see the world.
Eyes on Me
He's a voyeur-it means he likes to watch.
In Garrett Porter's line of work, that's a gift. Asone of the owners of the Salacious Players' Club, he's comfortable on the sidelines and has always felt that he works best alone.
Until he stumbles on a cam girl app and finds himself watching the one person he should stay far away from: his step-sister, Mia Harris.
There are three big problems with this.
One, Mia and Garrett can't stand each other.
Two, she has no idea he's the man on the other end of the video.
And three, he's hooked-on the app, and on her.
Now Mia has awakened something in Garrett. She has him wanting and doing things he said he'd never do again, like opening up and getting attached. He's falling for her, but she's falling for the man he's only pretending to be.
If he's going to make this right, he has to do more than just watch.

Notes on Heartbreak
Dark, fierce and raw, Notes on Heartbreak is a love story told in reverse, starting with a devastating break-up.
As Annie Lord deals with her broken heart, the book constantly revisits the past, from the moment she first fell in love, to the months that saw the slow erosion of a bond five years in the making. We feel Annie's pain with her, join her as she begins to heal, and cringe or laugh in recognition of our own experience as Annie charts her attempts to move on, from disastrous rebound sex to sending ill-advised nudes, stalking your ex's new girlfriend on Instagram and the sharp indignity of being ghosted.
This stunning exploration of love and heartbreak from cult journalist and Vogue columnist Annie Lord, is so much more than a book about one singular break-up. it is an unflinchingly honest yet lyrical meditation on the simultaneous joy and pain of being in love that will resonate with anyone who has ever nursed a broken heart. It's a book about the best and worst of love: the euphoric and the painful, the beautiful and the messy.
Perfect for fans of Everything I Know About Love, How to Heal a Broken Heart, Conversations on Love and Three Women.

Hegarty on Advertising
A revised and expanded edition of the book described by Books Monthly as 'an absolute gem. A bible, in fact'.
If the future is going to be creative, then Hegarty on Advertising points you in the right direction. Written by one of the world's legendary advertising men, this best-selling book contains five decades' worth of wisdom from the man behind hugely influential campaigns for brands such as Levi's, Audi, Boddingtons and Lynx.
In this new and improved edition John Hegarty reveals what lies behind a great idea and effective advertising, the ingredients of a successful brand, the right way and the wrong way to run and launch an advertising agency, why you should always question the brief, the art of pitching to a potential client, the central role of storytelling in advertising, the impact of new technology in a rapidly evolving industry, and the importance of dealing with succession. And if that isn't enough, read the final chapters on winemaking and The Garage Soho, a startup incubator that he has co-founded, to find out what happens when an advertising man becomes the client and has ideas sold to him.
Both a credo for creativity and a brilliantly entertaining memoir, Hegarty on Advertising provides unparalleled industry insight through stories and anecdotes about the agencies in which Hegarty has played a vital role and the many characters with whom he has worked along the way. Packed with straight-down-the-line, generous, engaging and witty advice, it will be of immense appeal across the whole creative spectrum, from those who want to work in advertising to chief executives who understand the power and value of ideas that sell.
Walking Monuments - rusky - tested on kids
Toto šarmantné mesto je hlavným mestom Slovenskej Republiky. Leží medzi riekou Dunaj (ľudia ho volajú aj „Krásavica na Dunaji“) a úpätím Malých Karpát. Úžasná blízkosť Viedne a hranice s Rakúskom, Maďarskom (tieto krajiny môžeš vidieť z hradného kopca voľným okom) a Českou Republikou robia návštevu ešte zaujímavejšou. V priebehu dejín videla Bratislava prichádzať a odchádzať mnoho kráľov, armád, umelcov a učencov. Čo ostalo, sú krásne pamiatky. This charming town is the capital of Slovak Republic. It sits between the river Danube (people call the city also “A beauty at the Danube”) and the foothills of Carpathian Mountains. Striking proximity to Vienna (70 km) and the border to Austria, Hungary (you can see these countries from the hill castle with a naked eye) and Czech Republic make the visit even more attractive. In the course of history Bratislava has seen many kings, armies, artists and scholars coming and going. What stayed are the beautiful monuments.

To je on! O té, co si říkala Toyen (audiokniha)
To je on!

Notes on Grief
A personal and powerful essay on loss from Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, the bestselling author of Americanah and Half of a Yellow Sun. 'Grief is a cruel kind of education. You learn how ungentle mourning can be, how full of anger. You learn how glib condolences can feel. You learn how much grief is about language, the failure of language and the grasping for language' On 10 June 2020, the scholar James Nwoye Adichie died suddenly in Nigeria. In this tender and powerful essay, expanded from the original New Yorker text, his daughter, a self-confessed daddy's girl, remembers her beloved father.Notes on Grief is at once a tribute to a long life of grace and wisdom, the story of a daughter's fierce love for a parent, and a revealing examination of the layers of loss and the nature of grief.

QED-nezvyčajná teória svetla a látky
"Feynmanove prednášky museli byť úžasné – sú zhmotnené v rovnako úžasnej knihe, ktorá je sugestívnym úvodom do QED, okoreneným vtipom autora. Každý, komu sa páči fyzika, by si ju mal prečítať. Nielen preto, aby detailne pochopil kvantovú teóriu, ale i preto, aby trochu nazrel do histórie." (Pedro Waloschek, Nature)
Rock on Film
When the use of Bill Haley's "Rock Around the Clock" turned 1955's Blackboard Jungle into a teen sensation and a box-office smash, it proved the opening shot in a cinematic and cultural revolution. Starting with Elvis Presley and the teensploitation films of the '50s and '60s, in Rock on Film award-winning author and former Rolling Stone editor Fred Goodman takes readers on a wide-ranging journey through film and pop history. Along the way, he measures the transformative impact of the mid-'60s landmarks A Hard Day's Night and Dont Look Back and how they seeded an almost unbelievably broad genre of films made by increasingly ambitious musicians and filmmakers across the past seven decades.
From the carefree to the complex, the mindless to the mind-bending, rock films have staked out their own turf by simultaneously celebrating innocence and challenging artistic and social conventions. With an insightful round-up of fifty must-see rock films spanning crowd-pleasers, art-house favorites, underground gems, and undisputed classics, Rock on Film surveys the nearly seventy-year canon of a genre like no other.
A series of original interviews with Cameron Crowe, Jim Jarmusch, Penelope Spheeris, Taylor Hackford, and John Waters illuminates how rock has influenced the work of some of the most divergent and thoughtful directors in movie history. Illustrated throughout by more than 150 full-color and black-and-white images, Rock on Film brings the history of music in the movies to vivid life.
