Tato strhující kniha se zaobírá Adolfem Hitlerem, nacismem a procesem vzniku třetí říše. Jedná se o fascinující vhled, který je nejen objektivní, ale i založený na pečlivých historických výzkumech. General Erich Ludendorff was one of the most important military commanders of the last century, yet today, is one of the least known. One of the top two German generals of the First World War, Ludendorff dominated not only his superior - General Paul von Hindenburg - but also Kaiser Wilhelm II. Spomienky bratislavského rodáka A. Romi Cohna na jeho detstvo a mladosť. Narodil sa v Bratislave koncom 20-tych rokov (rodina bývala na Vysokej ulici). V prvých kapitolách sa sústreďuje na rodinný život, spomína na vtedajšie pomery v Bratislave. V druhej polovici 30-tych rokov. Na základe svojich skúseností opisuje, ako sa po nástupe nacistickej ideológie menil vzťah bratislavských úradov a obyvateľov voči židom. Ťažiskom sú osudy najbližších rodinných príslušníkov, najmä ale Cohnove osobné zážitky v priebehu holokaustu: skrývanie, útek k partizánom a život medzi nimi. Pozornosť venuje aj prvým mesiacom po oslobodení a februáru 1948 v Bratislave. Po roku 1948 emigroval do Kanady a neskôr do USA. V New Yorku sa stal významným podnikateľom v stavebníctve (vybudoval viac ako 15000 domov). Napriek utrpeniu a osudom rodiny nestratil vieru a žije naďalej ako silne veriaci ortodoxný žid, ktorý neskrýva obdiv k životu a dielu Chatama Sofera. Pôsobí aj ako mohel a urobil niekoľko tisíc obriezok. Jeho skúsenosti využívajú aj newyorské nemocnice, kam ho často volajú v zložitých situáciach ako konzultanta.
