Román o osudu a láskách české malířky a grafičky Zdenky Braunerové Zdenka Braunerová byla žena energická, bojovná, zároveň však citově křehká a snadno zranitelná, jejíž půvab, osobitost a duchaplnost přitahovaly zájem lidí kolem ní. Po mladé lásce k malíři Chittussimu prožívala vroucí vztah k Juliu Zeyerovi, vášnivě se zamilovala do Viléma Mrštíka, s kterým se těsně před sňatkem rozešla, a duchovně se upnula k F. X. Šaldovi. Vztah s mladým spisovatelem Milošem Martenem se změnil v přátelství; s ním pak byla spojena postava francouzského básníka Paula Claudela, jemuž Braunerová věnovala své přátelství a jenž se – stejně jako slavný sochař Auguste Rodin – stal jejím okouzleným ctitelem. Lina Loos byla první manželkou Adolfa Loose, družkou Egona Friedella a Franze Theodora Csokora a blízkou přítelkyní Petera Altenberga. Pro všechny byla ale zároveň břitkým kritikem a bystrým pozorovatelem. Lina Loos, spisovatelka, herečka a kabaretní umělkyně, je velmi často a nezaslouženě zmiňována pouze v souvislosti s těmito a dalšími významnými muži. Neprávem, jak ukazuje tato kniha. Jedná se totiž o nezastřený a vášnivý pohled na Vídeň první poloviny 20. století, elegantní, chytrý a vtipný.

Generál Karel Lukas
Ze severní Moravy pocházelo mnoho zajímavých osobností, které se zapsaly do naší moderní historie. Zvláštní skupinu tvoří vojáci – účastníci prvního i druhého odboje. Patřil mezi ně i rodák z Brníčka Karel Lukas, jehož osudy zůstávají poněkud zapomenuty. Jeho vojenská kariéra mu dala přitom prožít neobyčejné události a setkat se zajímavými lidmi. Zůstával přitom vždy českým vlastencem a severomoravským patriotem. Za svobodu vlasti bojoval jako legionář a v letech 1939–1945 jako příslušník československé zahraniční armády. Významným způsobem se podílel na přípravách obrany Československa ve třicátých letech, pomáhal budovat československé vojsko ve Francii a Velké Británii a jako pozorovatel u britských vojsk zažil za druhé světové války bitvu u El Alameinu a boje v Itálii. Putování jeho životem je pro čtenáře zároveň jedinečnou příležitostí nahlédnout do dosud málo známých či dokonce neznámých kapitol našich moderních dějin a uvědomit s jakou nezištností dokázali naši předkové bojovat za svobodu a demokracii. Karel Lukas své znalosti a schopnosti dal plně do služeb Československa, v jehož budoucnost věřil. Tento milovník umění a člověk s kontakty v nejvyšších patrech anglické aristokracie jistě netušil, když se v roce 1947 vracel domů po několikaletém působení jako vojenský přidělenec v USA a Kanadě, jak smutný osud ho brzy potká. Pro komunisty, kteří Československo definitivně ovládli v únoru 1948, se stal nepohodlným člověkem. Způsob a okolnosti jeho tragické smrti v roce 1949 by přitom měly být dodnes výstražným mementem dokládajícím zrůdnost komunistického režimu.
Deník
Není pochyb o tom, že původně třísvazkový Gombrowiczův Deník patří k vrcholům díla jednoho z nejvýznamnějších polských prozaiků a dramatiků 20. století. Dnes je po celém světě považován za dílo patřící do základního fondu moderní světové literatury. Dílo vznikající v Argentině bylo poprvé vydáno česky v nakladatelství Torst a dnes je již zcela rozebráno. Přítomné druhé české vydání vychází v jednom svazku a je doplněno jmenným rejstříkem.

Knihu Vincenta Šabíka (1937), literárneho vedca a kritika, pedagóga, kulturológa, estetika, germanistu, editora a prekladateľa, Čriepky do portrétu Vincenta Šikulu (vydal Spolok slovenských spisovateľov, 2015) tvoria texty literárnokritických žánrov od lektorských posudkov po analytické štúdie, ktoré by sme mohli charakterizovať ako historicky autentický „work in progress“, teda skladanie mozaiky živého receptívneho obrazu percepcie, reflexie a rezonancie spisovateľových diel očami literárneho kritika ako aktívneho účastníka literárneho procesu medzi 60. až 90. rokmi minulého storočia, teda v čase, keď sa spisovateľ Šikula etabloval ako popredný reprezentant literárnej „generácie 56“. Kritikove texty sú zároveň autentickým svedectvom o vzájomnom vzťahu literárnej kritiky a tvorby podľa modelu literárnej komunikácie v celkom určitých spoločenských podmienkach časopriestoru. V užšom zmysle by sme ich mohli chápať aj ako zrkadlenie zápasu o spisovateľa a jeho originálnu tvorbu na všetkých úrovniach estetického myslenia v kontextoch totalitnej ideológie. Kritikove texty prispievajú k prehĺbeniu chápania a interpretácie diela Vincenta Šikulu a úsilí jeho generácie.

Silu jej dávala aj láska k Božej Matke Márii a k svätému ružencu. V jej živote platí veľká kresťanská pravda, že človek je aj v utrpení milovaný Bohom.
