Úpa známá i neznámá
Knihou o řece Úpě navazujeme na podobně pojatý svazek věnovaný Metuji. Sledujeme v ní tok řeky od pramene až po ústí do Labe a cestou si všímáme mnoha zajímavostí, jež se vyskytují jak na samotné řece, tak především v blízkém sousedství, vymezeném množstvím jejích přítoků. Zajímavý je už prostý fakt, že Úpa pramení vysoko v Krkonoších a svoji pouť končí v rovinaté nížině kolem Jaroměře. V okolí řeky najdeme vedle přírodních krás cenné památky sakrální a lidové architektury, historická města i obce, zámecké stavby i hradní zříceniny, rozsáhlé pozůstatky důlní činnosti, množství mlýnů a elektráren, ale nelze nezmínit ani doklady intenzivní průmyslové výroby v první polovině toku Úpy. Naše kniha není vlastivěda ani průvodce, chtěla by sloužit jako pozvánka na svébytný výlet do krajiny označované jako Poúpí. A protože k výletům patří také fotografie, které mají umocnit dojem, najde jich zvídavý výletník v naší knize přes čtyři stovky.
Veľká Morava
Ako blesk z jasného neba vstupuje do Európskych dejín v 9. storočí Veľká Morava. Je jedna z najvýznamnejších ríš, štátnych útvarov vtedajšej Európy.
Na posteri Veľkej Moravy sme sa snažili priblížiť udalosti, okolnosti a tie najvýznamnejšie osobnosti, ktoré sprevádzali slávy a pády Veľkej Moravy. Obrázky okolo znázorňujú Veľkomoravský príbeh od prvej písomnej zmienky o Moravanoch v roku 822, cez samotný vznik zlúčením Moravského a Nitrianskeho kniežatstva. V časovom slede zachytáva podstatné politické udalosti na Veľkej Morave, v kontexte s historickým rivalom Slovanov Franskou ríšou sa snaží priblížiť udalosti tohoto obdobia. Na posteri sú znázornené hlavné sídla podľa predpokladaného vzhľadu, tie viac či menej významné hradiská. S čo najväčšou presnosťou sme sa snažili vyznačiť diaľkové, spojnicové cesty.
Uvedené sú len potvrdené veci, snažili sme sa vyvarovať nelokalizovaným alebo dohadovaným, napr. kostolom, rotundám, hradiskám, atď.. Vzdialená doba, udalosti, pri ktorých sa dá opierať nielen o archeologické podklady, ale už aj o písomníctvo, nám však dáva celkom presné indície a obraz o Veľkomoravskej spoločnosti. Geografické názvy a názvy miest sa nám až na výnimky nezachovali, preto sú uvádzané na mape hlavne pre lepšiu orientáciu súčasné názvy.
Fotografie nálezov v dolnej časti ponúkajú autentickejší obraz o živote na Veľkej Morave. Spodná čas tiež približuje život bežného ľudu a remeslá. Význam Veľkej Moravy dokazuje aj fakt, že Cyrilometodské duchovné dedičstvo a historický odkaz Veľkej Moravy sú hneď v úvode zakotvené v Ústave Slovenskej republiky.

Čo by to bolo za cestovateľa bez správnej výbavy? Medzi tú základnú nepatria len turistické palice, topánky a batohy.
