Zahrady ve městě - Urban Gardering
Nikdo je nezval, a přesto je komunální politika více méně mlčky toleruje: partyzánské zahradníky ve městech, zelené anarchisty, okupanty nevyužívaných pozemků. Mladí i staří obyvatelé měst, unaveni všudepřítomnou šedí, zabrali komunální půdu, založili zahrady a záhonky, aby zde pěstovali zeleninu a květiny. Živelní zahradníci dobývají města.
Na jedné straně touha po návratu k přírodě, na druhé straně asfalt. Z těchto protikladů vznikala, jak na mnoha konkrétních případech ukazuje novinář Martin Rasper, po celém Německu malá sdružení, která zakládala zahrady všude tam, kde se našlo volné místo. K takovým plochám patří například zanedbané parky, stavební proluky mezi domy, opuštěné průmyslové plochy, dvorky v zadních traktech, dopravní ostrůvky. V Berlíně si městští zahradníci dokonce přivlastnili kousek nepoužívané části letiště Tempelhof. Protože však nikdo neví, jaké škodlivé látky mohly půdu kontaminovat, vyrábí si noví zahradníci ze starých umělohmotných pytlů, zbytků fólie a plastových popelnic bedničky na pěstování zeleniny a budují vyvýšené záhony. Výběr rostlin záleží na jen a jen na náladě zahradníka: najdete zde sléz a měsíček, stejně jako rajčata, různé druhy salátů, cukety a samozřejmě i bylinky do kuchyně. Vedle bobulovitých keřů a ovocných stromů rostou brambory a dýně. V samotných komunách mezitím nastala změna způsobu myšlení.
Autor píše s nadšením o městě Andernach, kde na zelených plochách roste místo květin zelenina, kterou si mohou obyvatelé města zadarmo sklízet. Na okrajích měst vznikají nové formy zemědělství. Jejich obyvatelé si mohou pronajímat předpěstované záhony a za pevnou částku dostanou tolik ovoce a zeleniny, kolik potřebují. Za obhospodařené záhony získají i podílové listy.
Autor velmi názorně popisuje, jak různé projekty fungují, jaké jsou mezi nimi rozdíly a jaké se nabízejí možnosti pro vlastní aktivity. Dává praktické tipy na zakládání vyvýšených záhonů, vysvětluje, jak získat sadbu a vyrobit kompost, zakládat smíšené kultury a pěstovat včely. Není to jen pouze radost z kontaktu s přírodou, co se do města zpátky vrací. Autor vysvětluje, že se jedná také o získání kousku nezávislosti cestou samozásobení, o zachování původních druhů rostlin, které by v průmyslové krajině neměly žádnou šanci na přežití. A máme tu nové hobby. Amatéři s chutí zkouší, jak a co roste a čemu se nedaří. Chuť experimentovat doprovází radost z úspěchu. Vítáni jsou všichni, Němci stejně jako migranti. Děti se začínají znovu učit, jak vypadá a roste to, co se později objeví na jejich stolech. Vandalismus tady neznají. Vládne zde duch společné odpovědnosti. Martin Rasper právem považuje tento druh městského zahradničení za politickou záležitost, protože probouzí pocit společenství, sdílené odpovědnosti a spolurozhodování. Lidé si opět berou kousek svého života do svých rukou. Kniha o netradičním zahradničení inspiruje a láká k napodobování.
