Geografie a mýty v Dionysiakách Nonna z Panopole
Stál-li epik Homér v 8. století př. n. l. u počátků řecké a vlastně i evropské literatury, stojí v 5. století n. l. na jejím konci epik Nonnos z Panopole píšící stále týmž jazykem i metrem a nacházející inspiraci v obrovském pokladu řeckého bájesloví. O Nonnovi - stejně jako o řadě autorů této epochy - nelze s jistotou říci, zda byl pohan, či křesťan. Tento fakt ještě umocňoval obdiv k jeho dílu i jeho zatracování. V předkládané monografi i jsou Nonnova Dionysiaka, zřejmě nejrozsáhlejší epické dílo pozdní antiky, poprvé zkoumána z hlediska úlohy, již v něm hrají geografické a mytické pasáže. Prof. Růžena Dostálová (1924) patří k předním českým byzantologům, přednáší novořecký jazyk a literaturu na FF UK v Praze a FF MU v Brně. Kromě řady překladů z antické, byzantské a novořecké literatury je autorkou knih Byzantská vzdělanost (1990, 2003), Antická mystéria (s R. Hoškem, 1997) ad.
