Being before God offers a thorough account of Cornelio Fabro's Thomistic reading of Soren Kierkegaard's theology, speaking both to systematic theology and Kierkegaard studies. Italian Stigmatine priest and Thomist philosopher Cornelio Fabro is well known for his work on the metaphysics of Thomas Aquinas. Yet despite also authoring many studies on Soren Kierkegaard, Fabro remains virtually unknown among Kierkegaard scholars outside of Italy. Being before God sheds light on the influence of Kierkegaard's writings on Fabro's Thomism and provides a detailed historical account of Fabro's contributions to Kierkegaard studies and systematic theology. Drawing upon rare archival material, including materials that have never been translated into English, Joshua Furnal speaks to Kierkegaard's relationship to Catholic theology, the Kierkegaardian aspects of Fabro's Thomism, and Fabro's Thomistic approach to Kierkegaard in turn. Being before God also highlights how Fabro's work brings together ideas from both Aquinas and Kierkegaard to broaden the horizon of contemporary theology. Through his meticulous research, Furnal contends that, despite his lack of modern recognition, Fabro remains one of the most important European interpreters of Kierkegaard in the twentieth century.

Na počiatku bol nápad predstaviť kresťanstvo ako niečo prirodzené, blízke životu, ako vôňu kávy, chleba či rozkvitnutej lúky.
Ježiš prišiel na zem predovšetkým preto, aby žil život naplno. Poháňala ho radosť, že Boh nebol nikdy tak blízko pri človeku a nikdy neodhalil tvár tak výrazne.
V rukách držíte knihu minizamyslení určenú na rok, keď sa počas nedieľ číta hlavne Matúšovo evanjelium.
Prečo názov Matúšov rock? Okrem lásky autora k hudbe názov vyjadruje aj charakter evanjelia. Matúš ho písal až s rockovou vervou. Napokon, evanjelium znamená dobrú zvesť. A tá je hudbou pre uši.

Autor nechává promlouvat kněze, starce i obyčejné lidi, kteří hledají Boha v realitě často drsné, ale prostoupené nadějí. Drobky jsou sbírkou, která neidealizuje, ale v drobných záblescích ukazuje krásu věrnosti, sílu modlitby a křehkost lidského zápasu o víru.
The Visible Word of the Unseen God
From the late first century to the end of late antiquity, three rival traditions—pagan, Jewish, and Christian—found themselves at odds over one issue in particular: the nature of the relationship between divine reality and the material world. In this context, the Evangelist John constructed his bios of Jesus as a narrative apologia addressed primarily to Jews whose objection to the worship of Jesus was essentially the same as their longstanding objection to pagan iconic worship. The Visible Word of the Unseen God argues that John wrote his Gospel for readers inclined to regard Christian claims about an incarnate Messiah as an illicit intermingling of the invisible reality of God with the visible creation. As such, the Gospel is best read as an act of scriptural reasoning that portrays the incarnation as a recapitulation of Israel's encounter with God at Sinai, where the visible appearance of God in his Word formed the basis for proscribing any attempt to contain God's presence in images. John designs his narrative to enable readers to hear the words spoken at Sinai as the life-giving words of the Logos and to see the incarnation, crucifixion, and resurrection as the definitive repudiation of idolatry—the climactic revelation of God's visible glory as his presence in his Word. An appreciation of this core feature of John's Gospel serves as a striking counterpoint to a reductive secularism that strips reality of all but stuff and the self-creating human words we inhabit. At the same time, John is no ally to those critics of secularism who trace its rise to Reformation-era iconoclasm. John does not offer a ressourcement for post-secular reenchantment but rather an entirely different conceptual world. As John renders the world, God is not absent from his creation but neither is his presence diffuse within it. Rather, the Creator is and always has been present in his Word. Through the incarnation, crucifixion, and resurrection, the Word has become the sanctuary that human beings coinhabit with God and share in the life he lives and speaks.

Rané upanišady (asi 7. – 5. stor. pred n. l.) patria k najstarším dochovaným filozofickým textom na svete. Predmetom filozofie upanišád je sebapoznanie, t. j. poznanie vlastnej podstaty, ktorú nazývajú Átmá alebo Brahma. Upanišady predstavujú základ mnohých indických filozofických a náboženských systémov. Hoci vznikli v dávnej minulosti, ich myšlienky nie sú vzdialené ani súčasnému človeku. Prehovárajú k ľuďom naprieč tisícročiami a kultúrami.
