A čo sme my? Sme prach túžiaci po dosiahnutí neba. Naše sily sú chabé, no mocné je tajomstvo milosti, ktorá je prítomná v živote kresťanov. Sme verní tejto zemi, ktorú Ježiš miloval v každom okamihu svojho života. Ale vieme a chceme dúfať v premenu sveta, v jeho definitívne naplnenie, kde nebude viac sĺz, zloby ani utrpenia.
Témou Jubilejného roka 2025 je nádej, čnosť, na ktorú sa často zabúda, hoci je ústredným prvkom v živote veriaceho človeka. Pápež František svojimi gestami a slovami nezlomne svedčí o nádeji. Chápe ju ako duchovné konanie človeka, ktorý nekapituluje pred nocou zla vo svete a nevystačí si s chabými slovami útechy. Toto vydanie Biblie v Slovenskom ekumenickom preklade je súčasťou série Biblií rôznych formátov a prevedení pod spoločným názvom SLOVO na cestu životom. Týmto pomenovaním knihy kníh chceme zdôrazniť, že tu máme Božie slová, ktorými ak sa dáme viesť, môžu nás sprevádzať na ceste životom vo všetkých životných situáciách. Hodnota a vážnosť slova aj SLOVA sa vytráca. Dnes „dať slovo“ – prísľub, vysloviť záväzok, nič neznamená. Slovo stratilo svoju moc, prestalo mať svoju váhu, prestalo byť pevné, nemenné, ako sa hovorilo „chlapské“. Mnohokrát sa slová prekrúcajú a znevažujú, a to tak slová ľudské, ako aj Božie slovo. Zo vzájomnej komunikácie nám vypadli slová ako láska, odpustenie, potešenie, pravda a mnohé iné, ktoré nás majú spájať a posilňovať. Musíme sa vrátiť k SLOVU, aby sme sa naučili správne žiť aj komunikovať. Je potrebné dosiahnuť, aby slová, ktoré sú obsahom tejto knihy, prebývali medzi nami, a tak Ježiš – vtelené SLOVO – prišiel do našich životov.
Slovenský ekumenický preklad
Slovenský ekumenický preklad Božieho slova – Biblie vznikal 19 rokov (1988 – 2007). Preklad z pôvodných jazykov zabezpečovala Slovenská biblická spoločnosť, a na tejto práci sa podieľali biblisti, prekladatelia a jazykovedci zo všetkých kresťanských cirkví na Slovensku. Práve toto slovo dokázalo spojiť ľudí z rôznych kresťanských spoločenstiev a tradícií do jedného veľkého pracovného celku, v ktorom pôsobil Duch Svätý podľa slov Písma z Jn 17,21: „aby všetci boli jedno, ako ty, Otče, si vo mne a ja v tebe, aby aj oni boli v nás, aby svet veril, že si ma ty poslal.“
Predhovor k 4. opravenému vydaniu slovenského ekumenického prekladu
Okrem opráv toho, čo sa napriek najlepšej snahe o bezchybnosť v texte objaví, sa trojčlenný tím biblistov zameral na prepracovanie textu Novej zmluvy v duchu väčšej konkordantnosti. Už pri vydávaní študijnej Biblie, obsahujúcej text tretieho opraveného vydania, bolo totiž cítiť, že je dôležité verne prekladať kľúčové pojmy, vďaka ktorým môže čitateľ vnímať prepojenie medzi biblickými miestami, ktoré pri veľmi voľnom, prerozprávanom preklade zdanlivo nesúvisia. A tak krížové odkazy uvedené do predošlého vydania teraz môžu lepšie plniť svoju funkciu poukazovať na podobné myšlienky roztrúsené na iných miestach Biblie. Najviac sa to týka textu synoptických evanjelií – Matúša, Marka a Lukáša.
Pre ľahšie rozlíšenie priamej reči boli na žiadosť mnohých čitateľov do textu celej Biblie vložené úvodzovky. V priamej reči sa neraz ťažko rozlišovalo, ktorá z biblických postáv práve hovorí. Najťažšie sa to napríklad sledovalo pri prorokovi, ktorý hovorí raz sám za seba a inokedy podáva Boží výrok. Doteraz úlohu označenia priamej reči čiastočne plnili pomlčky, ktoré však majú aj iné vetné funkcie. Popri úvodzovkách prvej úrovne („“) sme použili aj úvodzovky druhej (‚‘) a tretej úrovne (» «), aby sa dali ľahšie rozlíšiť citáty v citáte.

Kniha Boh je všetko vo všetkom je prepisom poznámok k prednáškam, ktoré otec Thomas Keating dával v roku 2012 počas Výročnej konferencie Contemplative Outreach v Snowmass, v Colorade. V kláštore, kde odišiel do večnosti – v opátstve sv. Josepha v Spencer, v Massachusetts –, dal Thomas Keating v júli 2018 súhlas na publikovanie týchto poznámok. A my sme veľmi poctení, že sme tak mohli urobiť. Ako vždy, aj tu nás otec Thomas vyzýva a zapája do svojej náuky a jej rozsiahlosti, a okrem iného píše o: nekonečnom súcite a milosrdenstve Boha; troch stupňoch transformujúcej duchovnej cesty; novej kozmológii, ľudskej prirodzenosti, vede a ich vzťahu k spiritualite; posolstve kríža pre našu dobu; význame vykúpenia; a mnohom ďalšom... Božia láska a povzbudenie neustále žiarili z náuky otca Thomasa. Keď rozprával, vychádzal z vlastnej živej skúsenosti, a možnosť byť v jeho prítomnosti toto poznanie potvrdzovala a oživovala. Jeho život odhaľoval skúsenosť, ktorú sme aj my ostatní chceli poznať! O autorovi: Thomas Keating (†2018), trapistický mních, centrálna postava hnutia Centering Prayer (modlitby súhlasu) a zakladajúci člen Contemplative Outreach. Už počas svojich štúdií na Yale University objavoval bohatstvo kresťanskej mystickej tradície. Poznávanie tejto hlbokej tradície, bystré vnímanie reformy, ktorú priniesol II. vatikánsky koncil zvlášť vo vzťahu k iným náboženstvám, ako aj osobné hľadanie, v ňom nechali vyklíčiť celoživotnú túžbu prispieť k obnove kontemplatívneho rozmeru kresťanstva. Renewing Theology
This comprehensive study investigates the role that Ignatian spirituality has played in the renewal of academic theology using three prominent Jesuits as case studies. Over several centuries, spirituality has come to define a field of concerns and themes increasingly treated separately from those of academic theology, as if the latter had little relation to the former. This raises the question for us today: How is spirituality related to the practice of theology? In Renewing Theology, J. Matthew Ashley provides an answer by turning to Ignatian spirituality and three prominent twentieth-century theologians who embraced its spiritual resources: Karl Rahner, Ignacio Ellacuría, and Jorge Mario Bergoglio—that is, Pope Francis. Ashley begins his investigation by considering the historical origins of the widening separation between spirituality and academic theology in the Christian West. He provides an initial overview of Ignatian spirituality, focusing on the openness and multidimensionality of Ignatius of Loyola's Spiritual Exercises, presented here as a text in which the conditions of modernity that defined its author's world are present, at least incipiently. Ashley then offers three case studies in order to show how each Jesuit—Rahner, Ellacuría, and Pope Francis—responded to the challenges of modernity in a way that is uniquely nourished and illuminated by themes constitutive of Ignatian spirituality. Their theologies, Ashley suggests, evince a particular clarity and force when the Ignatian spirituality that animates them is foregrounded.
