Ladislav Žák (1900–1973) se prakticky i teoreticky zabýval problematikou bydlení, navrhováním nábytku a později i řešením dobově aktuálního úkolu minimálního bytu pro sociálně slabé vrstvy.
Ve třicátých letech navrhl skupinu pozoruhodných funkcionalistických rodinných domů na pražské Babě, ve kterých v různých variantách uplatňoval spojení otevřených společenských místností a individuálních buněk, které rozpracoval v návrzích domů pro kolektivní bydlení. Důležitým tématem se pro něj stalo spojení stavby s venkovním otevřeným prostorem a přírodním okolím – zahradní úpravou. Později, když opustil architektonickou praxi, začal intenzivněji promýšlet otázky spojené s tvorbou krajiny a ochranou životního prostředí. První Žákova monografie potvrzuje, jak nadčasové bylo myšlení tohoto všestranného umělce.

1912 - 100 let od otevření Obecního domu v Praze

Léto 1912 se v uměleckohistorických příspěvcích soustřeďuje na širší mezinárodní kontext. Závěrečná část Podzim 1912 je mezioborová, částečně mapuje situaci v dobové literatuře - například že v tomto roce napsal Franz Kafka Proměnu - a přináší i genderový pohled.
