Brassai
Brassai (1899-1984) was a key member of a group of European and North American photographers who, over the course of the 20th century, managed to redefine the identity and enrich the potential of photography as an artistic medium.
The main theme of his work was Paris, the subject matter for some of his most significant and renowned images. He captured vibrant images of the daily life of the city, especially the vitality of its night-time atmosphere, in a vivid expression of the powerful artistic dimension of his perspective. The evocative capacity of his images achieved unquestionable recognition that spread from artistic photography circles to the tourist industry and the commercial photography circuit.

Dějiny fotografie by mohly být zároveň dějinami zápasu o její uznání jako takzvaného vysokého umění. To přišlo velmi pozdě a se stejným zpožděním se na fotografii začalo nahlížet jako na sbírkový umělecký předmět hodný zájmu historiků umění.
V domácím, ale i ve světovém kontextu byla jednou z prvních institucí, jež fotografii v tomto ohledu vzala na milost Moravská galerie v Brně, kam do čela sbírky fotografie nastoupil v roce 1968 Antonín Dufek a jako emeritní kurátor zde působí dodnes.
Z velké části to byla právě jeho činnost, která české (a slovenské) fotografii vytvořila pevné místo v rámci dějin umění a také dokázala českou fotografii zviditelnit a proslavit v zahraničí.
Tato publikace je tak poctou osobnosti Antonína Dufka a jak jinak, je zcela věnována fotografii.

Susan Meiselas (born 1948) studied at Sarah Lawrence College and Harvard University, taking up photography in the early 1970s. She is credited with being one of the first to work with color in documentary photography, a controversial decision when she was shooting the conflict in Nicaragua in the late 1970s. Meiselas joined Magnum Photos in 1976 and has worked as a freelance photographer since then.

Flora Magnifica

Joel Meyerowitz - Where I Find Myself
Where I Find Myself is the first major single book retrospective of one of America's leading photographers. As the title indicates, it is organized in inverse chronological order and spans the photographer's whole career to date.
It covers all of Meyerowitz's great projects: his work inspired by the artist Morandi, his work on trees, his exclusive coverage of Ground Zero, his trips in the footsteps of Robert Frank across the US, his experiments comparing colour and black and white pictures, and of course his iconic street photography work.
The text is all by Joel Meyerowitz himself and the book coincides with a major retrospective show in Berlin
Hopper, Dennis
