Štvrtá publikácia Aurela Hrabušického a Filipa Vanču z edície Osobnosti slovenskej fotografie tentoraz predstavuje výber z tvorby Ivana Matejku (1942). Tento výrazný fotografický talent sa už v mladosti stal priekopníkom výtvarne orientovanej fotografie na Slovensku. Výtvarní (tzv. umeleckí) fotografi sa po rokoch diktátu socialistického realizmu usilovali oslobodiť fotografiu od verného reprodukovania skutočnosti s cieľom vytvoriť autonómne výtvarné dielo. Matejka patril medzi tých, ktorí v tomto smere zašli najďalej. Na rozdiel od svojich kolegov takmer nikdy nezasahoval do technologických procesov pri vzniku snímky, ale vystačil si so základnými funkciami fotoaparátu. Zanedbané kulisy reálneho socializmu sa v jeho podaní zmenili na detailne rozvrhnuté, rafinované estetické objekty. Máloktorý fotograf pritom vyťažil zo spustnutej reality a civilizačného odpadu toľko krásy.
