Bohumil Gregor.
Státní opera Praha vydává k nedožitým osmdesátinám dirigenta Bohumila Gregora knihu Aleny Martínkové s názvem Bohumil Gregor – Chtěl jsem sloužit divadlu. Publikace není odbornou monografickou studií, ale čtivou vzpomínkovou knihou, která se zrodila z autorčiných rozhovorů s touto výjimečnou uměleckou osobností. Od dětství a hudebních začátků popisuje umělcovu cestu až k nastudování poslední opery (Mertova La Roulette) ve Státní opeře Praha. Vyjadřuje nejen umělcovo celoživotní krédo, ale ukazuje i konkrétní postupy při studování a realizaci jednotlivých operních děl. Speciální kapitola je věnována práci na operách Leoše Janáčka, který byl jeho hudebnímu naturelu nejbližší. Kniha je doplněna vzpomínkami mnoha umělců, kteří s Bohumilem Gregorem spolupracovali (např. Dalibor Jedlička, Daniela Šounová-Brouková, Jana Jonášová, Hana Jonášová, Eva Děpoltová, Jiří Nekvasil ad.) a obsahuje bohatý, mnohdy doposud nepublikovaný fotografický materiál. Dirigent Bohumil Gregor (1926–2005) byl jedním z největších operních dirigentů druhé poloviny 20. století. Stal se výraznou osobností opery Národního divadla, působil v Královské opeře ve Stockholmu, ve Státní opeře v Hamburku a od roku 1986 byl hlavním hostujícím dirigentem Nizozemské opery v Amsterodamu. Hostoval pravidelně ve velkých amerických a evropských operních centrech (San Francisco, Washington, Philadelphia, Berlín, Kolín nad Rýnem, Curych, Ženeva aj.). Českou hudbu – především Janáčka, ale také Smetanu, Dvořáka a Martinů prezentoval na četných evropských festivalech. V letech 1999–2002 zastával funkci hudebního ředitele Státní opery Praha. Nastudoval zde světovou premiéru opery Bubu z Montparnassu Emila Františka Buriana, následovaly opery Polský žid Karla Weise a Hamlet Ambroise Thomase. Připravoval hudební nastudování opery La Roulette Zdenka Merty (světová premiéra 17. 3. 2005), na jejíž partituře s autorem dlouhou dobu úzce spolupracoval. Mistr Bohumil Gregor zemřel 4. 11. 2005 ve věku 79 let.

Predložená práca De musica má ambíciu interpretovať fázovanie dejín európskej hudby pomocou semiotickej koncepcie, založenej najmä na myšlienkach Charlesa Sandersa Peircea. Stredoveká európska reflexia začlenila hudbu do systému siedmich slobodných umení (septem artes liberales); v dobe vytvorenia tejto väzby bola hudba súčasťou matematického, „číselného“ kvadrívia a vytvárala si úzke vzťahy predovšetkým so svojimi kvadríviovými príbuznými – s aritmetikou, geometriou a astronómiou. Túto stredovekú kvadríviovú musiku skúmame v časti musica symbolica, keďže požadované väzby tónov a čísel vytvárali symbolicko-mimetický vzťah, založený na ich dohodnutej, teda konvenčnej väzbe. Symbolickej hudbe naša hudba vďačí za svoje základy.

Monografia približuje jeden z kľúčových piesňových žánrov tradičnej slovenskej vokálnej kultúry. Na Slovensku sa v porovnaní s inými regiónmi strednej Európy zachoval najpočetnejší repertoár obradových piesní spojených so slávením letného slnovratu – predovšetkým tzv. jánske piesne viažuce sa na obyčaj pálenia ohňov. Hoci tieto piesne predstavujú už len zlomkový repertoár, pútali pozornosť zberateľov aj hudobných skladateľov-upravovateľov od 19. storočia ako archaický piesňový žáner, ktorý dokladá historický rozmer tradičnej slovenskej kultúry a približuje formy prieniku kresťanských a predkresťanských prvkov. Autorka na základe archívnych prameňov aj vlastných terénnych výskumov prináša obraz jedného z ťažiskových piesňových žánrov výročného cyklu. Rituálny kontext spevu týchto piesní sa síce nezachoval, ale na základe hĺbkovej analýzy poetiky textov a hudobnoštýlových znakov bolo možné získať významné poznatky, ktoré na tento rituálny kontext odkazujú
