Hanyo (The Housemaid)
The upwardly mobile Kim family employs a young woman to help manage their new house. Mr. Kim begins an affair with the nameless ‘housemaid’, who soon drags the entire family into a terrible tragedy… The director Kim Ko-young played a formative part in South Korean cinema’s “Golden Age” of the 1960s and 1970s; his 1960 masterpiece, Hanyo (The Housemaid), rescued and restored after almost being lost, is today widely regarded as one of the greatest South Korean films of all time. Directors such as Park Chan-wook, Im Sang-soo, Kim Ki-duk, Ryu Seung-wan and Kim Jee-woon have all praised the film, and Bong Joon-ho has referred to Hanyo as “the Citizen Kane of Korean cinema,” citing it as an inspiration for his film, Parasite (2019). Housle jako vedoucí člen skupiny smyčcových nástrojů měly v dějinách hudby mnoho funkcí. Tato publikace je zaměřena na jejich roli sólového nástroje, jednak v instrumentálních koncertech, jednak v četných skladbách s partnerskou účastí většinou klávesového nástroje nebo bez doprovodu. Výklad sleduje houslovou tvorbu od počátků v raném baroku ve všech významných vývojových proudech a provenien¬cích. Věnuje adekvátní prostor tvorbě prvních velkých houslistů, zvláštní pozornost samozřejmě soustředí na velké barokní syntetiky Bacha a Händela, na představitele vídeňského klasicismu, kteří dovedli žánr až na práh romantismu, a na klíčový zjev houslového génia Niccola Paganiniho. Ani u pozdějšího vývoje autor vedle skladatelů, kteří dospěli ke svrchované syntéze sólových houslí s orchestrální či klavírní složkou, nezanedbává bohatou tvorbu komponujících virtuosů přispívajících hlavně k využívání technických možností nástroje. Zákazům navzdory (1969–1989) mapuje třiaosmdesát hudebních alb, která vznikla mimo oficiální vydavatelství a mnohá z nich totalitnímu režimu navzdory. Nahrávky se pořizovaly na koncertech, ve zkušebnách, později v domácích studiích. Jen osm z nich vyšlo v letech 1978–1987 na deskách v zahraničí.
Je to hudba velmi různorodá; někdy měla prostřednictvím podzemní distribuce zřetelný společenský dosah, jindy se stala kultem pro vyhraněný okruh posluchačů. Většinou však za ní stály mnohé dramatické příběhy a přes nelehkou dobu rozhodně nebyla nouze ani o zábavné historky. Výběr je zaměřen na oblast undergroundu, alternativy a nové vlny: Plastic People, DG 307, Umělá hmota, Svatopluk Karásek, Charlie Soukup, Psí vojáci, Národní třída, Extempore, Švehlík, Amalgam, Kilhets, trio Janota–Fidler–Richter, Lesík Hajdovský a Manželé, MCH Band, Zikkurat, Jasná páka, Dvouletá fáma, Precedens, Visací zámek a další.
Kniha není koncipována jako vyčerpávající monografie o neoficiální hudební scéně a neklade si nárok na úplnost. Autor však sbíral poznatky čtyřicet let, čerpal z rozhovorů s více než stovkou zúčastněných hudebníků, vycházel i z archivů Státní bezpečnosti a běžně nedostupných zdrojů, jako jsou dobové kroniky, deníky, soukromá korespondence, samizdatové časopisy.
Příběhy více než osmi desítek hudebních alb tvoří přehlednou a informacemi nabitou encyklopedii svého druhu, která zachycuje podstatnou část naší neoficiální hudební scény sedmdesátých a osmdesátých let dvacátého století.
