Obrazy & sochy
Katalog výstavy autorů nejmladší generace, malíře Tomáš Honze a sochaře Martina Žáka.

Henri Rousseau
Henri Rousseau (1844-1910) is one of the most important representatives of naive art. His paintings, characterized by a pronounced exoticism and a childlike awkwardness, can be understood as avant-garde. From the famous jungle paintings to numerous portraits and his cityscapes, one can discover Rousseau's work, which remains true to his simple but imaginative style.

Art Nouveau - Glasgow, Amsterdam, New York
Art Nouveau developed in very different forms between the 1880s and the First World War, starting in Western Europe. Organic lines and plant forms, building in iron, glass, and concrete, as well as the idea of the "Gesamtkunstwerk" (Complete work of art) can be found in London, Glasgow, and Riga as well as in St. Petersburg and Moscow. But above all in the Scandinavian countries and in Eastern Europe, Art Nouveau often developed into a young national style of its own, frequently with a return to regional traditions. In other countries, such as the Netherlands or the USA, the path seems to lead directly into Modernity, especially in architecture.
Viera Kraicová – Obrazy
Viera Kraicová (5.júl 1920, Modra – 29.apríl 2012, Bratislava) bola významná predstaviteľka slovenskej maľby a ilustrácie, ktorej tvorba sa vymyká generačným nástupom a škatuľkám súdobých výtvarných tendencií. Hoci bola výtvarne a výstavne činná už od štyridsiatych rokov, začiatok jej zrelej tvorby v rámci slobodného autorského hľadania sa datuje až do konca päťdesiatych a začiatku šesťdesiatych rokov 20.storočia. V tom čase založila s kolegyňami z pražských štúdií Skupinu 4 (1958 – 1966) a začali spoločne vystavovať.
A művészettörténeti ismertetés számtalan csodálatos festmény, rajz és grafika révén kel életre; ezek a kis könyvek igazi képes albumok, szemet gyönyörködtető kiadványok.
John Craxton
Uplifting and engaging, this story recounts the life and career of a rebellious 20th-century British artist
Born into a large, musical, and bohemian family in London, the British artist John Craxton (1922-2009) has been described as a Neo-Romantic, but he called himself a "kind of Arcadian". His early art was influenced by Blake, Palmer, Miro, and Picasso. After achieving a dream of moving to Greece, his work evolved as a personal response to Byzantine mosaics, El Greco, and the art of Greek life. This book tells his adventurous story for the first time. At turns exciting, funny, and poignant, the saga is enlivened by Craxton's ebullient pictures. Ian Collins expands our understanding of the artist greatly-including an in-depth exploration of the storied, complicated friendship between Craxton and Lucian Freud, drawing on letters and memories that Craxton wanted to remain private until after his death.
Vermeer
Despite numbering at just 35, his works have prompted a New York Times best seller; a film starring Scarlett Johansson and Colin Firth; record visitor numbers at art institutions from Amsterdam to Washington, DC; and special crowd-control measures at the Mauritshuis, The Hague, where thousands flock to catch a glimpse of the enigmatic and enchanting Girl with a Pearl Earring, also known as the "Dutch Mona Lisa". In his lifetime, however, the fame of Johannes Vermeer (1632-1675) barely extended beyond his native Delft and a small circle of patrons. After his death, his name was largely forgotten, except by a few Dutch art collectors and dealers. Outside of Holland, his works were even misattributed to other artists. It was not until the mid-19th century that Vermeer came to the attention of the international art world, which suddenly looked upon his narrative minutiae, meticulous textural detail, and majestic planes of light, spotted a genius, and never looked back. This 40th anniversary edition showcases the complete catalog of Vermeer's work, presenting the calm yet compelling scenes so treasured in galleries across Europe and the United States into one monograph of utmost reproduction quality. Crisp details and essays tracing Vermeer's career illuminate his remarkable ability not only to bear witness to the trends and trimmings of the Dutch Golden Age but also to encapsulate an entire story in just one transient gesture, expression, or look.
Prostredníctvom hlavného textu Daniely Čarnej a hlavne bohatého obrazového materiálu ponúka čitateľovi a divákovi vizuálny zážitok z objavovania rôznych vrstiev obrazu.
Celobarevná výpravná monografie malíře a ilustrátora Miroslava Pospíšila s úvodním slovem Milana Krejčího.
Peter Blake: Collage
Peter Blake (b. 1932) has remained constant and groundbreaking in his exploration of the medium of collage throughout his career spanning seven decades. Most recognised for his iconic 1967 cover for The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album, Blake already understood the potential of collage as an art form as a student at the Royal College of Art in the 1950s, where his reputation as a founder and key proponent of the Pop Art movement was established.
An avid collector, Blake's collages combine junkyard treasures and found objects with images from popular culture. He revisits themes drawn from his childhood - the entertainments of the circus, the glamour of the cinema and the showmanship of the wrestling ring - weaving detailed, often humorous narratives. From his early paintings depicting assembled fragments of popular imagery, to his found-object constructions and his most recent inkjet print collages, Blake has broadened the scope of what collage can be and communicate.
Peter Blake Collage provides the first comprehensive survey of Peter Blake's work in the medium. It features a foreword by David Hockney, an essay by Patrick Elliott, Chief Curator of the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, Edinburgh, a recent interview with Peter Blake by Natalie Rudd, Senior Curator of the Arts Council Collection, over 250 colour reproductions and a newly compiled illustrated chronology.
Published in partnership with Waddington Custot.
Edvard Munch
A revised edition of the most comprehensive monograph on Munch
Though The Scream is undoubtedly his best-known piece, Edvard Munch's body of work extends far beyond this silent howl to encompass a wide practice across paint, pastel and print. The joint effort of ten scholars, and first published in 2013 to great acclaim, this volume offers a comprehensive survey of Munch's inimitable contributions to modern art. The publication covers many aspects of Munch's versatile artistic practice, with a focus on specific themes and phenomena that characterize his work. The texts offer a fresh look at Munch's oeuvre in the context of modernism, highlighting the issues that the artist grappled with throughout his career: the relationship between art and reality, the artist and the public, and Munch's misgivings about modernism and his place in the world. With a thorough bibliography, a timeline of the artist's life, and excerpts of Munch's own writing, this monograph proves to be a most comprehensive tribute to the artist. Edvard Munch (1863-1944) was born in rural Norway before his parents moved to Oslo (then called Kristiana). He grew up under the influence of frequent family illness, both mental and physical, and would later use his art as a means of expressing his turbulent psychological state. He studied at the Royal School of Art and Design in Oslo and spent time in Paris and Berlin. Most of his work managed to survive the Nazi purges of "degenerate art."
Spring Cannot be Cancelled
On turning eighty, David Hockney sought out rustic tranquillity for the first time: a place to watch the sunset and the change of the seasons; a place to keep the madness of the world at bay. So when Covid-19 and lockdown struck, it made little difference to life at La Grande Cour, the centuries-old Normandy farmhouse where Hockney set up a studio a year before, in time to paint the arrival of spring. In fact, he relished the enforced isolation as an opportunity for even greater devotion to his art.
Spring Cannot be Cancelled is an uplifting manifesto that affirms art's capacity to divert and inspire. It is based on a wealth of new conversations and correspondence between Hockney and the art critic Martin Gayford, his long-time friend and collaborator. Their exchanges are illustrated by a selection of Hockney's new, unpublished Normandy iPad drawings and paintings alongside works by van Gogh, Monet, Bruegel, and others.
We see how Hockney is propelled ever forward by his infectious enthusiasms and sense of wonder. A lifelong contrarian, he has been in the public eye for sixty years, yet remains entirely unconcerned by the view of critics or even history. He is utterly absorbed by his four acres of northern France and by the themes that have fascinated him for decades: light, colour, space, perception, water, trees. He has much to teach us, not only about how to see... but about how to live.

Georg Baselitz
A prolific artist with a protean output, Georg Baselitz has rethought the conventions of a range of media, predominantly painting and sculpture, over the course of a career of some sixty years. Born in 1938, Baselitz was expelled from art school in East Berlin in 1956 for 'socio-political immaturity', and moved to the western half of the city. By the late 1950s, he had rejected the dominant tendencies of both sides of the country and his singular achievement was to reintroduce the figure, compromised and discredited though it was by both Nazism and Communism, into art. By drawing attention to art by 'outsiders', such as psychiatric patients, and invoking a Parisian model of existentialist art and literature, Baselitz proposed an alternative European tradition that did not eliminate the human subject.
In alluding later to movements in German painting such as Expressionism as well as to artists like Munch, he also consciously rehabilitated the kind of art that was condemned by Hitler as 'degenerate'. The book follows the development of Baselitz's unique style from his earliest work through to the most recent creations of his eighth decade. Calvocoressi's masterful construction of a chronological narrative helps us to evaluate Baselitz's work in terms of the disruptions of his life - historical upheavals witnessed alongside an astonishing career.
