Koutní plachty Slovenska
Koutní plachta či koutnice byla v české lidové kultuře plachta oddělující postel šestinedělky umístěnou v koutě od zbytku světnice. Toto místo nesměla za normálních okolností žena opustit, jinak mohla vystavit nebezpečí sebe, dítě i okolí, včetně lidí, zvířat, věcí i živlů. Zvyk izolovat šestinedělku byl rozšířen po celém světě.
Celobarevná publikace představuje sbírku slovenských koutních plachet ze sbírek Národního muzea. Ikonografický, umělecko-řemeslný i historický výklad provází bohatý obrazový materiál, zachycující krásu těchto nádherně zdobených, především vyšívaných památek lidové kultury, spjatých s tématy porodu a šestinedělí.

Kresby Bohuslava Martinů: Martinů obrázky kreslící
Výpravná publikace Martinů obrázky kreslící byla vydána u příležitosti stejnojmenné výstavy v CBM. Nabízí kompletní soubor dochovaných kreseb, jejichž autorem je skladatel Bohuslav Martinů. Jde o unikátní doklad jiné než kompoziční tvůrčí činnosti skladatele: kresby vznikaly ve většině v letech 1910-1920 jako určitá forma umělecké relaxace autora tvořil je čistě pro vlastní potřebu a nepočítal za svého života s jejich uveřejněním. Jsou ovšem vysoce zajímavým materiálem i pro pochopení jeho kompoziční činnosti téže doby, neboť obě sféry (hudební i výtvarná) mají mnoho společného. Publikace je ojedinělá svým obsahem, neboť některé z kreseb skladatele dosud nebyly zveřejněny a především dosud nikdy v historii nebyly publikovány jako ucelený komplet.
Čtvrtstoletí 25. mikulovské výtvarné sympozium "dílna" 2018
Publikace byla vydána k 25. jubilejnímu Mikulovskému výtvarnému sympoziu dílna. Je koncipována jako knižní publikace, která prostřednictvím rozhovorů přibližuje nejen myšlení a tvorbu zúčastněných autorů, ale také se stala alespoň dílčím dokumentem o proměnách současného českého a potažmo středoevropského výtvarného umění. Kromě textů obsahuje kvalitní reprodukce děl, jež se stala součástí sbírky současného umění města Mikulova a dokumentární fotografie z průběhu akce.

Energia kresby
Mikuláš Galanda patrí k zakladateľským osobnostiam moderného slovenského výtvarného umenia 20. storočia. Už od svojich začiatkov bol výborný kresliar a zostal ním v celej svojej tvorbe. Počas svojho krátkeho života stihol vytvoriť stovky grafických listov, bibliofílií, knižných ilustrácií a mnohých ďalších diel. Blake, Dante
Celebrated around the world as a literary monument, The Divine Comedy, completed in 1321 and written by Dante Alighieri (1265–1321), is widely considered the greatest work ever composed in the Italian language. The epic poem describes Dante’s journey through Hell, Purgatory, and Heaven, representing, on a deeper level, the soul’s path towards salvation.
In the last few years of his life, Romantic poet and artist William Blake (1757–1827) produced 102 illustrations for Dante’s masterwork, from pencil sketches to finished watercolors. Like Dante’s sweeping poem, Blake’s drawings range from scenes of infernal suffering to celestial light, from horrifying human disfigurement to the perfection of physical form. While faithful to the text, Blake also brought his own perspective to some of Dante’s central themes.
Today, Blake’s illustrations, left in various stages of completion at the time of his death, are dispersed among seven different institutions. This TASCHEN edition brings these works together again, alongside key excerpts from Dante’s masterpiece. Two introductory essays consider Dante and Blake, as well as other major artists who have been inspired by The Divine Comedy, including Sandro Botticelli, Michelangelo, Eugene Delacroix, Gustave Doré, and Auguste Rodin.

Charlotte Salomon. Life or Theatre
When German artist Charlotte Salomon (1917–1943) handed her gouache series Life? or Theater? over to a friend, she beseeched him to “take good care of it, it is my entire life.” A few months later, the five-months pregnant Charlotte was picked up by a Gestapo truck, deported to Drancy, and then on to Auschwitz, where she died upon arrival at the age 26.
The work Salomon left behind is, in a very real sense, her piece de résistance – in her own words, “something wildly eccentric.” A cycle of nearly 1,300 autobiographical gouaches, it combines creative force with pioneering personal narrative into one shattering document of self-expression.
Divided into three sections, the gouaches unveil a vivid self-portrait spanning across all facets of Charlotte's existence: from a complicated family life, marked by the suicides of nearly all female relatives; growing up in Berlin; her close relation to singing teacher Alfred Wolfsohn; the rise of the Nazis; to her exile to France in 1939. Throughout, the artist challenges these destructive forces by deploying playful pseudonyms and fantastical elements alongside emotional candor, remarkable observation, and a meticulous visual memory. Her film strip-like sequences are interspersed not only with words but also musical suggestions, making Life? or Theater? the storybook for a whole musical, years before the heyday of that genre.
Without comparison, the gouaches are a triumph of personal truth and individual expression. Published here with a selection of the 450 most important pieces, Life? Or Theatre? is an unrivaled opus magnum from a great and ambitious artist, dark with her early death, but luminous with her precision, her lyricism, and her courage.
Jasper Johns
Jasper Johns is one of the most important artists of our time. This book offers the first comprehensive study of his art since 1980, a period in which the artist has made some of his most moving and challenging work. Looking primarily at Johns’s paintings and works on paper, and drawing on conversations with the artist, Fiona Donovan provides the context for this later work and explores its visual and iconographic complexity. In the years 1980–2015, Johns’s imagery ranged from investigations of his own earlier subject matter and personal history to a much broader humanist discourse. Spiritual, moral and sexual themes run through his work, as well as ruminations on memory and mortality.
