Reloaded – The Good, The Bad & The Rugby
THE HIGHS. THE HEARTBREAKS. THE HANGOVERS. THE PERSONAL. THE VULNERABLE. THE DOWNRIGHT ABSURD. IT'S TIME TO RELOAD. The rugby boys are back – and this time, it’s personal. Alex, Mike, and Hask return with their second book, ready to tackle everything from rugby highs and lows, to the absurdities of everyday life. As was widely predicted, our first book, The Good, The Bad & The Rugby – Unleashed, did not win a Pulitzer Prize. It did, however, scoop Sports Entertainment Book of the Year at the 2025 Charles Tyrwhitt Sports Book Awards (and sold quite a lot of copies), so here we are again, back for a sequel. What more have we to say? It’s a fair question. Hask can mine more new material from a trip to the supermarket than most people can from an entire lifetime – and you won’t be surprised to learn that he hasn’t just been hanging around Asda since our last book came out. He recently turned 40, he’s been through much personal turmoil, he’s done an awful lot of DJing – and he’s had a lot of arguments. Expect much of that, and even some thoughts on rugby, in the following pages. As for Tins, you’ll find out about his early days in rugby, how he had to fight to make it, what he thinks of the state of the game, and his plans to get it back on track. Meanwhile, Alex will tell you all about his career in broadcasting, from making (‘disgusting’) tea and coffee, and presenting some of the greatest rugby matches in history, to getting binned by Sky. We should end by begging you to pardon our previous flippancy. It was, of course, lovely to win that award, as well as very surprising. In fact, The Good, The Bad & The Rugby will never stop surprising us, and its continuing success is largely down to you – our wonderful listeners, viewers and now readers. We do hope you enjoy what follows and that you keep coming back for more. Winners of the Charles Tyrwhitt Sports Book Awards 2025 Sports Entertainment Book of the Year, for their previous book The Good, The Bad and The Rugby – Unleashed.

The Rain Catcher
Two years after writing the memoir of Judge Sara Hastings, 31-year-old Diane Montgomery finds herself at a crossroads. In the quiet solitude of her Kitty Hawk beach house, she contemplates the decisions that have brought her here: the choice to abandon her career in journalism to write a novel, the decision to move her and her daughter halfway across the state, and the ultimate decision - moving on from the loss of her husband. But when she meets Nathan Garner, a 37-year-old artist who has recently opened a gallery near the beach, she is taken aback by the stirring of something familiar in her heart. Something that whispers of second chances and sunlit futures. That is, until Sara Hastings passes away, leaving Diane to grapple with a grief that is both new and hauntingly reminiscent of the past. Arriva The Shires
Serving the main towns of Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire and South Bedfordshire and with Green Line routes into Central London, Arriva The Shires had around 350 vehicles by the early 2010s. In 2013, the Milton Keynes fleet was absorbed into The Shires licence, around the same time as a guided busway opened between Luton and Dunstable. Following Arriva’s changes to management and licences, the Hertfordshire operations and garages moved to Kent Thameside in 2016. At the same time, the London-contracted services passed with Watford Garage to Arriva London North, leaving the company to serve south Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire. It was all change again in 2024 with the closure of Aylesbury and High Wycombe garages, leaving a much-slimmed-down fleet based in Luton and Milton Keynes on the Shires licence. With 180 colour images and informative captions, Gary Seamarks details the vehicles operated over the last twenty-five years, many of which have cascaded in from the Midlands fleet, along with new rolling stock for use on the Luton Busway and the Green Line 757 between Luton and its airport into Central London.
Colorblind
With this book, Amy Motlagh considers how racial thinking underpins cultural practices in Iran and the Iranian diaspora. Despite cultural traditions depicting black people and the documented presence of black Iranians, many have insisted that race is not an important aspect of Iranian culture, that "blackness" does not exist in Iran. Instead, it is the notion of being "Persian" that binds all Iranians together. But, as Motlagh argues, the word "Persian" masks a long racial history that depends on the specter of blackness to define what is truly Iranian. Colorblind critically examines how these concepts express themselves in folklore, ethnography, literature, and films to show how understandings of race and slavery have moved from home country to host, and from host to home. In particular, ambivalence surrounding the concepts of "race" and "blackness" prevents Iranians from fully interrogating their own racial thinking, even while some diasporic Iranians position themselves as racially liminal and non-white. By closely examining these efforts, as well as the cultural and historical foundations they were built on, this book reveals how ideas about race and slavery in Iran have forged a specific conception of modern Iranian cultural identity.

The Arab Bureau
A fascinating study of the British Empire’s Middle Eastern intelligence section during the First World War, drawing on government files and secret publications. In the midst of the First World War, an extra- ordinary intelligence unit operated from Cairo’s Savoy Hotel, combining the skills of archaeologists, academics and soldiers to revolutionise how Britain gathered information and shaped events in the Middle East. Overshadowed by Lawrence of Arabia, the Arab Bureau’s true significance has remained hidden in plain sight ever since. This fascinating study uncovers the Bureau’s remarkable story through newly discovered Arabic documents and previously overlooked archives. At its heart lies an astonishing find: Thawrat al-Arab, an ambitious Arabic-language book and the longest piece of British propaganda produced during the war. From the Arab Bulletin’s secret intelligence reports to sophisticated propaganda campaigns, the Bureau was decades ahead of its time. The team—including archaeologists fresh from desert digs and scholars fluent in local dialects— developed new methods of cultural intelligence that would influence future generations. Eamonn Gearon’s compelling narrative reveals how this unique organisation navigated the complexities of Arab politics, tribal rivalries and Ottoman intelligence, while developing techniques that resonate with today’s challenges in intelligence-gathering. Essential reading for anyone interested in intelligence history, the Middle East or how innovation occurs in wartime, this book transforms our understanding of a crucial moment in world history.
