The Passionate Spies
How Gertrude Bell, St. John Philby, and Lawrence of Arabia Ignited the Arab Revolt—and How Saudi Arabia Was Founded. This is the true story of how three British Secret Service agents from the Arab Bureau in Cairo helped General Edmund Allenby defeat Germany’s ally, the Turks, and end World War I. TE Lawrence, better known as Lawrence of Arabia. reignited a failing Arab Revolt by training and leading a guerrilla force of Arab irregulars to take the port of Aqaba on the Red Sea. The Passionate Spies details the forgotten nomadic life of the Bedouin tribes and their raiding parties; the founding of oil-rich Saudi Arabia led by King Ibn Saud; and his double-agent, the treacherous Major St. John Philby whom spymaster Major Gertrude Bell of the SIS had trained in spy-craft; as well as the critical moment that David Lean featured in his famous film in which young Captain Lawrence discovers a secret back door into the Turkish interior. Experience the exciting adventure story of how these three British Intelligence officers rekindled the failed Arab Revolt, and also helped to found modern Saudi Arabia. Follow Lawrence of Arabia and the team of Middle Eastern specialists in British Intelligence—chosen by the new Colonial Secretary Winston Churchill in 1921—which included successful travel writer Gertrude Bell, who became the first female officer in Britain’s army.
Arne Slot
Arne Slot has been tasked with a role at the helm of one of the most prestigious clubs in the game: Liverpool FC. Having showcased his ability to compete at the top tier of Dutch football, he brings his tactical acumen and characteristically aggressive, high pressing football from the Eredivisie to the Premier League. Slot delivered remarkable performances at more than one club in the Netherlands and garnered a reputation for consistently exceeding expectations. Under his innovative leadership, AZ Alkmaar finished second in the league – and that only on goal difference – when the season was abandoned in 2020 due to Covid. In 2021, Slot took the reins at Feyenoord and led them to their first league title in six years. In four short years, he cemented his status as one of the most promising managerial talents in Europe. Maarten Meijer’s biography delves into Arne Slot’s roots, from the tiny village of Bergentheim in the Netherlands, to the formidable task of following in the footsteps of Jurgen Klopp, his iconic predecessor at Liverpool FC. With confidence borne from a career of success and a complete faith in the football he wants to play, Slot is ready to make his mark at Anfield and continue the legacy of excellence.

Notebook
The story behind Notebook starts with a minor crime: the theft of Tom Cox's rucksack from a Bristol pub in 2018. In that rucksack was a journal containing ten months' worth of notes, one of the many Tom has used to record his thoughts and observations over the past twelve years. It wasn't the best he had ever kept – his handwriting was messier than in his previous notebook, his entries more sporadic – but he still grieved for every one of the hundred or so lost pages. This incident made Tom appreciate how much notebook-keeping means to him: the act of putting pen to paper has always led him to write with an unvarnished, spur-of-the-moment honesty that he wouldn’t achieve on-screen. Here, Tom has assembled his favourite stories, fragments, moments and ideas from those notebooks, ranging from memories of his childhood to the revelation that 'There are two types of people in the world. People who fucking love maps, and people who don't.' The result is a book redolent of the real stuff of life, shot through with Cox’s trademark warmth and wit.
Bosorky
V obou vystupují výrazné ženské postavy: generální ředitelka velké společnosti Anna Šibnerová a Mathilde Spalt zvaná Zemitá, která šíří nauku o Staropanně.

Broken Republik
For many years, the post-war recovery of Germany was an inspirational story. Companies like Mercedes-Benz and Siemens became global titans, while the country's political leaders earned respect around the world. Even when the Berlin Wall fell, it initially seemed to reunify effortlessly.
But even at its peak, there were signs of trouble. So, when events started to turn against Germany, everything started to crumble. Volkswagen's emissions scandal damaged its industrial reputation, abandoning nuclear power left it reliant on Russia, and growing inequality boosted the far-right AfD.
Now updated for this edition, Broken Republik tells the compelling story of Germany's decline - where it all went wrong and how it could bounce back.

Madame Bovary (Signature Editions)
Gustave Flaubert's classic novel of a bored French housewife who goes to great lengths to escape the staleness of provincial life, freshly repackaged for the Union Square & Co. Signature Editions line. Beautiful and bored, housewife Emma Bovary is trapped in her marriage to a mediocre doctor and stifled by the banality of provincial life. A passionate reader of romance novels, she seeks to escape her existence through spending lavishly on clothing and embarking on multiple affairs. But even something as seemingly exciting as committing adultery only brings her disappointment and devastating consequences for her husband and daughter. Flaubert's erotically charged and psychologically acute portrayal of Emma Bovary caused a moral outcry on its publication in 1857. It was deemed so lifelike that many women claimed they were the model for his heroine; but Flaubert insisted: "Madame Bovary, c'est moi."
