Recover Me
Getting clean was just the beginning... DJ Fat Tony has lived a thousand lives: celebrated nightlife icon, survivor of decades-long addiction to drugs, alcohol and sex, and a LGBTQ activist who navigated trauma, abuse, and the AIDS epidemic. In Recover Me, Tony charts his journey from the hard graft of addiction to self-acceptance, affirming that recovery is not a destination but an ongoing commitment to accountability. Tony's story is marked by setbacks - dishonesty, victimhood, toxic relationships, and relapses into old behaviours - but also by moments of breakthrough and growth. He learns to navigate the complexities of early recovery, the allure of chaos and drama, and the necessity of honest self-inventory. Mixed with stories that are darkly humorous and oftentimes painful, Tony also gives advice on how to make amends, rebuild family relationships, and develop healthy boundaries, both with others and yourself. Written with expertise from integrative therapist Tara Day, the book offers therapeutic insights and reframes addiction through a trauma-informed, psychological lens to explore the nature of addiction and the lifelong process of healing. This is recovery with all the mess left in. No twelve-step sainthood, no empty promises. Just the truth about what it takes to break cycles, build boundaries, and find your own version of happy ever after - even if you still think you don't deserve it. For anyone battling addiction, shame, or just the weight of their own story, Recover Me shows that recovery doesn't end, but deeper healing is always possible.
The Wise and Their Works
The Wise and Their Works celebrates the 175th anniversary of the Great Exhibition in 2026. The men who inspired the Great Exhibition of 1851 - Henry Cole, Sir Robert Peel and above all Prince Albert himself - were at the centre of an extraordinary combination of manufacturing, commercial skill and political vision which made Victorian Britain an unparalleled success story. In this celebratory book, A. N. Wilson examines the legacy they left behind: their idealistic beliefs about free trade, decency and parliamentary democracy, and their ultimate vision of the human race at peace with prosperity spreading, while poverty and warfare were consigned to history. While their loftier ambitions may not have come to pass, these enterprising men did leave behind a little known but hugely influential organisation, the Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851, which still supports industry, science and art in the UK. Skillfully delving into this rich and fascinating history, Wilson takes us on a journey into the heart of the progressive Victorian dream, and where it has left us today.
The Art of Marvel Animation’s Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man
The official behind-the-scenes companion to the Disney+ animated seriesThe Art of Marvel Animation’s Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is a collector's item packed with photos and interviews with key creatives accompanied by sketches, storyboards, character and costume designs, animation cels, and other ephemera from the making of the series. Under the tutelage of Norman Osborn, Peter dons a number of suits on his journey to establishing himself as Spider-Man and takes on hordes of street-level villains outfitted by Doctor Otto Octavius. Run-ins with familiar heroes like Doctor Strange, Daredevil, and Iron Man establish Peter's place in the Marvel Universe and expand the boundaries of his world beyond his titular neighborhood.
Daggermouth - The Heart Duology 1
He Is Her Ruin. She Is His Rebellion.
The first thing you'll learn in New Found Haven is mercy no longer exists. Showing mercy is a weakness, and weakness will get you killed.
The second thing is this-the Veyra are always watching. From the highest glass atrium in the Heart to the windowless slum dens of the Boundary, no movement goes unseen.
The last lesson is the hardest, but you must remember it.
Love outside of your ring is a death sentence.
The city is carved into rings of privilege and poverty, ruled by the masked elite who will do whatever it takes to hold onto power.
Obedience is demanded. Rebellion is crushed.
Greyson Serel has spent his life caught between two worlds. Publicly, he's the flawless heir to the presidency. Privately, he's entangled in secrets that could topple the regime. But when he's forced into a political marriage meant to bind him tighter to the governments brutal laws, he finds himself shackled to a bride who is as lethal as she is unwilling.
Shadera is a mercenary raised to kill, not to wed. Yet when her bullet misses its mark, survival leaves her bound to the very man she was sent to eliminate. Trapped inside the corrupt heart of the city, she becomes both prisoner and wife, her every step watched, her every move tested.
Their union is no love story-It's a battlefield. As secrets come to light and betrayals fester within the walls of power, Greyson and Shadera must decide between annihilating one another or burning the city to the ground together.
In a world where passion sparks rebellion and loyalty is paid for in blood, their forced bond may be the spark that ignites a revolution. Or the fire that consumes them both.
DAGGERMOUTH is a dark dystopian romance perfect for readers who love true enemies to lovers, The Hunger Games, marriage of inconvenience, The Handmaid's Tale, rise of the oppressed, and political intrigue that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Ukazuje, jak kdysi ústřední postavení plodné bohyně Země – matky a dárkyně života – postupně nahradily kulty mužských božstev spojených s mocí, válkou a zákonem. Autor zde zkoumá mytologické kořeny judaismu, křesťanství, islámu a zoroastrismu a sleduje jejich vzájemné ovlivňování v průběhu dějin.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales
Explore the Stories Behind the LegendsFirst introduced in 2011 by Brian Michael Bendis and Sara Pichelli, Miles Morales reconceived Spider-Man as African American and Latinx, and his debut marked a new direction in the saga of a beloved character. Miles Morales as Spider-Man is a coming-of-age tale of a smart, affable teen coming into his power. From his reluctance to becoming a super hero to his desire to help others, to the rocky balance between his school life and super hero responsibilities, Miles is always at the precipice of making tough decisions—choices whose consequences are as weighted in his personal life as they often are for the survival of the world. Illustrated with full-color art, Ytasha L. Womack’s entry in the Marvel Age of Comics looks at the hugely successful reimagining of one of the most popular super hero characters of all time.
Invitation to Faith
In a world where life’s problems can feel overwhelming, how can we live with peace of min? o you ever wonder:• Why doesn’t life go the way I want?• What awaits us after death?• If God or Buddha exists, why do wars and disasters still occur?“Life is a workbook of problems to be solved,” teaches Ryuho Okawa—renowned spiritual leader and best-selling author. Just as the lotus blooms beautifully in muddy water, we too can allow our inner flower to blossom, no matter the hardships we face. God or Buddha never burdens us with a load heavier than we can bear. The path to enlightenment involves not only attaining wisdom by solving life’s problems but also cultivating a selfless, pure love for others—grounded in the knowledge that this world is not the only world, and that life continues beyond death. This transparent, unconditional love reflects the teachings of Hermes, the Greek god of prosperity and mysticism, who taught that true love should be as pure and transparent as the wind, asking nothing in return. Bridging the Eastern Buddhist path of enlightenment with the selfless love of Western Hermetic thought, Invitation to Faith presents a contemporary, universal faith—one that unites belief in a higher power with daily self-improvement. It encourages us to live in a world of Truth, goodness, and beauty.
Etika mezikulturního a mezináboženského dialogu
Impossibility of Nothingness
In an extraordinary late flowering, these new poems — written in his nineties — are still characteristically and unmistakeably the crafted work of Ian McDonald, and they are also remarkably other.McDonald’s hallmark qualities are all still here: a capacity for genuine compassion; an exploration of the complex nature of love; a profound engagement with the natural world; and character vignettes, powerfully drawn, empathetic but never sentimental, that are an essential archive of a disappearing Guyana. These late poems bring new angles on McDonald’s perennial themes. There is the exploration of memory and intimations of mortality, a focus on grandchildren, the garden and the sheer wonder of being alive at the poet’s great age. But in addition, there is something new-minted and unrestrained about the language of these later poems that is remarkable. These poems are, if anything, even more surprising, moving and inspirational than those pieces beloved by generations of Caribbean readers. There is a kind of carefree truthfulness about the poems in The Impossibility of Nothingness. Richly imagistic, the poems feel elemental, written without the constraint of wanting approval or applause but because they demanded to be written. As he says in the final line of the short title poem – which is an assertion of the possibility of momentary joy in even the bleakest of situations – “I record this just in case it’s true”.

Urban landscapes in Iron Age Iberia
Urban Landscapes in Iron Age Iberia provides an up-to-date synthesis on the urbanism of Iron Age hillforts and oppida of Iberia. The emergence of large and complex fortified settlements is a characteristic phenomenon of the period between the Late Iron Age and the expansion of the Roman Empire (4th–1st centuries BC) in extensive areas of Central and Western Europe. In this geographical context the Iberian Peninsula has a key position between the Atlantic and the Mediterranean. A vast Spanish and Portuguese scientific literature has revealed a very diverse scenario with different paths for the development of complex urbanism, in some cases presenting clear alternatives to the Mediterranean models introduced by Phoenician-Punic, Greek, and Roman influence. The book integrates a series of novel contributions from across Iberian archaeology, with an explicit examination of urban structures using a rigorous multidisciplinary approach. Together they demonstrate the potential value and relevance of archaeological data for Urbanization Studies.
