Tomu může napomoci kniha vzpomínek českého estetika Tomáše Kulky, pokrývající období od roku 1972 do roku 2000. Děj je rozdělen do sedmi částí, chronologicky mapujících klíčové historické události Izraele. Kulka přijíždí v roce 1972 do Izraele z Anglie, kam odešel z Československa v roce 1968. Kniha zachycuje války a politické zvraty – prožitek Jomkipurské války v roce 1973, kdy je Izrael nečekaně napaden Egyptem a Sýrií. Zvrat v roce 1977, kdy pravice vítězí ve volbách. Libanonskou válku v letech 1981-1982. Pozornost je věnována válce v Zálivu v roce 1991. Kniha se zabývá dynamikou izraelské společnosti, zejména rozdíly mezi Aškenázy a Sefardy. Engem kedvelő táblácskáit hálásan köszönöm, nagyon jó vasárnap estét szerzett velük, kérem, vissza ne vonja őket. És mint láthatja, a reményt még nem adtam fel, itt vagyok.
